I want to know how many of these "21 Suggestions for Success" Apolo incorporates into his life. 1)Marry the right person. This one decision will determine 90% of your happiness or misery. 2)Work at something you enjoy and that's worthy of your time and talent. 3)Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully. 4)Become the most positive and enthusiastic person you know. 5)Be forgiving of yourself and others. 6)Be generous. 7)Have a grateful heart. 8)Persistence, persistence, persistence. 9)Discipline yourself to save money on even the most modest salary. 10)Treat everyone you meet like you want to be treated. 11)Commit yourself to constant improvement. 12)Commit yourself to equality. 13)Understand that happiness is not based on possessions, power, or prestige, but on relationships with people you love and respect. 14)Be loyal. 15)Be honest. 16)Be a self-starter. 17)Be decisive, even if it means you'll sometimes be wrong. 18)Stop blaming others. Take responsibility for every area of your life. 19)Be bold and courageous. When you look back on your life, you'll regret the things you didn't do more than the ones you did. 20)Take good care of the ones you love. 21)Don't do anything that wouldn't make your Mom (or in this case, your Dad) proud. tdavis GREAT WORDS for all of us to live by, not just Apolo! Thanks for posting it.

I think Apolo has followed suggestion #1 so far, at least in a negative sense. He hasn't rushed into marriage, and that bodes well for his future wisdom in choosing a mate.

These are great words, tdav, great post!
Apolo probably does all of them, although not sure about #9. And what does it mean to commit oneself to equality? (#12)

Sometimes Apolo reminds me of my dog Cochise. Cochise is unusual looking, but very very beautiful. He can be reserved, but once you are his friend, the affection is boundless. He has dark, thoughtful eyes that miss nothing, and can pierce straight to your soul. He is focused, and never loses his determination in the face of adversity. He is pure muscle, and always ready to roll when it's time. And most of all, Cochise is loyal and full of love for his family and friends. No wonder Apolo puts me in mind of Cochise. You'll never think of "dog" as a pejorative term again, will you?

I don't know if this really "describes" Apolo or not, but I thought it was nice. I'll let you guys have your takes on it:
"I don't think you should be considered a celebrity because you can catch a ball, throw a ball, sing, talk, but because of what you have done in your life to better someone else's." -Oprah Winfrey

I love that quote, tdavis. It's obvious Oprah takes that to heart, and so does Apolo.

I know this doesn't belong here and I'm probably starting something I'm going to regret, but I can't stand those stupid people on YouTube. I was watching some of his Olympic races and all that and those people are so adamant that he cheated and cheats and always will cheat, and the things they say on there about him. I know everyone has there opinion but it really makes my blood boil and it makes me want to break something. *sigh* Okay, I'm done. I just needed a place to vent. I'm calm now. That feels better. (I've got to stop reading those comments. I know it's not true and I just can't let it get to me)

But it doesn't matter who thinks otherwise cuz you know and everybody here knows, that Apolo doesn't need to cheat to achieve greatness. He has heart and determination! That gets you everywhere in life!
