For someone who seems to like expensive watches, shoes, and gold jewelry, Apolo is not very fashion conscious about his clothes. I can tell because he doesn't have his suits altered to fit him perfectly, and he buys a lot of baggy shirts. I mean, if he can afford to spend hundreds of dollars on funky shoes, you'd think he could get a tailor to custom-make his clothes. Like how he was dressed in the Gentlemen's Quarterly shoot. In defense of our boy as we call him ... he just came into the spotlight from DWTS. He went from skin suits, which I must say he knows how to pick 'em. Well there was one goofy one. But he looks great on the ice. So he maybe doesn't always hit the mark. Give him a chance to grow. Maybe fashion isn't a priority for him. Just guessing. But I understand what you're saying. Sometimes I would see him in something and think oh Apolo come here let me help you with that. But he's still cute with or without clothes.

I love a guy who dresses down, but then again, I've always been partial to the 'cowboy' type. If Apolo was a perfect fashionista, why would he need us?
(Can we pretend that this is a deep thought?)

I may be mistaken but I thought that I read some where (when it came to the ugly suit) that the speed skating organization designs/picks the skin suit, not the athlete. They are even told where the corporate sponsors logos go and where the athletes can put their own personal sponsor logos. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

It IS a deep thought - an exploration of how casual can look just as stunning as formal. My cuddle-muffin is movie-star handsome. (No, I have no rational explanation for why he is with merely-pretty me.) When he is dressed up, he is breath-taking. But I find the moments that I cannot take my eyes off him often involve a pair of athletic shorts and a t-shirt with the sleeves cut off. I feel the same way about Apolo. He looks amazing in his "fancy" clothes, but he is right-down irresistible in his regular duds. Of course, since no deep thought would be complete without a bit of humor, let me just say that both Apolo and my cuddle-muffin could walk around wearing nothing but a doily to cover their dingus, and they'd still look great. Maybe even better than great.

breeze...of course while he's in training, it's the typical jock wear. remember, he's still a celeb in training. do you think he'll revert back to un-tailored, off the rack suits after wearing that gorgeous fitted gucci suit? i think not

So when I said Apolo looks great with or without clothes ... if I'd only thrown a doily over his dingus I would have fully contributed to this thread. And if I were to crochet that doily my technique would be very spacious.

Last night, as I was peeling potatoes, I realized how very much Apolo resembles said spuds. A seemingly simple and humble tuber on the surface, yet beneath the skin there lies enormous complexity and value.
There is easy-going Apolo, just kicking back (boiled salt potatoes with a little butter). There is contemplative Apolo, pondering the mysteries of the universe (spicy curly fries). There is warrior and competitor Apolo, ready to slay the dragons (the potatoes that keep the vindaloo from being so hot that it burns layers of skin off the inside of your mouth). There is Apolo the son, with his deep love for his Dad (a baked potato, earthy and hearty). There is Apolo the team player, unique yet still part of something bigger than himself (mashed potatoes made with extra sharp white cheddar).
I think you get the point. Our sweet spud is a man of many faces and many places, just like a good tater. A veritable party in your mouth, if you will.

Wow, elle, that was very poetic and, um, deep. I was thinkin' some deep thoughts, too, but more like the kind Snug came up with earlier (fully intended as humor)... Ever notice Apolo's apparent fixation with water? That's right. FIXATION. Think about it.... 1) He skates on the ice (frozen water). 2) Before that, he was a swimmer (in the pool filled with water). 3) He grew up in Seattle, one of the wettest cities in the nation (rain is comprised of... you guessed it, water). 4) In fact, he finds rain very agreeable and romantic as I recall from a former quote (romantic=rain=water). 5 & 6) When he went on a vacation, he went to an island (surrounded by water) and went surfing in the ocean (the largest body of water there is). 7) On another vacation to Japan, one of his favorite experiences was the natural hot springs (ancient, steamy water). 8 & 9) When he's not on vacation, he's workin' up a sweat (sweat = water + salt), which makes you thirsty (for water). 10) And after he's done sweatin', he's got to shower (under running water). 11) And when he wants to get really relaxed, what does he do? He soaks in a bathtub (full of water - & hopefully bubbles). Not sure what one does to "fix" a water fixation. Perhaps in Apolo's case, it serves the greater good *pictures how good it makes us all feel to envision him relaxing in the bathtub, hopefully with bubbles*. Common sense dictates that the best sort of cure for water and wetness is air, so being that he's a Gemini, which is, ironically, an air sign, perhaps he should consult an astrologer or at the very least read and follow his daily horoscope. He just needs me to complete his fixation. I'm an Aquarius---the water bearer.

Apolo reminds me of a rose, he started DWTS like a small bud and ended up blooming into something amazing

For some reason I thought that said "water beaver." I'm having x-rated thoughts about Apolo and a wet beaver. Okay--that's gonna get me banned.

I want to know how many of these "21 Suggestions for Success" Apolo incorporates into his life.
1)Marry the right person. This one decision will determine 90% of your happiness or misery.
2)Work at something you enjoy and that's worthy of your time and talent.
3)Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
4)Become the most positive and enthusiastic person you know.
5)Be forgiving of yourself and others.
6)Be generous.
7)Have a grateful heart.
8)Persistence, persistence, persistence.
9)Discipline yourself to save money on even the most modest salary.
10)Treat everyone you meet like you want to be treated.
11)Commit yourself to constant improvement.
12)Commit yourself to equality.
13)Understand that happiness is not based on possessions, power, or prestige, but on relationships with people you love and respect.
14)Be loyal.
15)Be honest.
16)Be a self-starter.
17)Be decisive, even if it means you'll sometimes be wrong.
18)Stop blaming others. Take responsibility for every area of your life.
19)Be bold and courageous. When you look back on your life, you'll regret the things you didn't do more than the ones you did.
20)Take good care of the ones you love.
21)Don't do anything that wouldn't make your Mom (or in this case, your Dad) proud.
