Lori, that was such a concise and easy way of explaining it. This is my own forum, for crying out loud, and I wasn't even sure how to do it or explain it! And that was just so easy and simple and I feel like telling myself *duh*! Hopefully kirkland can figure it out, too! Thanks!

OK. That last one was me coming in, but not signing in, and now I can't take away a picture that has no place being here, but is a nice picture nonetheless. I decided to stop whining about not being able to post a picture properly and seriously read this thread to figure it out. If I got it once, I can get it again... Lurker - I can delete that pic you posted above. Are you copying the image code from an imaging site such as Photobucket? You should be able to copy & paste that code and the pic will show up. Also, be aware that there appears to be a character limit in the linked URL when posting images here. If the image code is too long, the picture wont show up. The character limit is 100 characters - anything longer than that won't show up. Some time later.... Christy - thank you! Yes, I'm copying from Photobucket. The problem seems to be getting the url between the brackets properly and having only one set of brackets (since photobucket brings it over with it's own...) Now I need to learn about screencaps and how to do them, how to post them...

And that was just so easy and simple and I feel like telling myself *duh*! Hopefully kirkland can figure it out, too! Thanks! Thanks, Lindsey - Mtnme described 2 other ways that were sent to her very eloquently by Lexi. One involved duplicating your screen and cutting and pasting from one screen to the other. And the other one was where you use a separate Word document (rather than the message box) to cut, paste and create your post. (I use that method, too, 'cause sometimes I've gotten automatically 'logged out' in the middle of a long post, and I've lost it). The only problem with that method is that you can't 'preview' as readily while you're working on it... I think, though, that understanding what begins your quote and what ends it is key, and that's part of what got me confused at first, particularly when I was quoting a quote within a quote within a quote, and wanted to extract just one line. Just watch those brackets, and be aware of what you have between "[" and "]", and make sure the name of the person you're actually quoting is in there, and that you always have *left bracket*/quote] at the end of each quote...

This has probably been asked and answered more than once. How do you do multiple quotes in replies (using excerpts only)? As you read this, understand that when I say *left bracket*, I mean the symbol [ (when I type the symbol, the computer takes action to 'quote', and I don't want it to do that for purposes of this explanation) You have to read very carefully, and understand that something like *left bracket*quote author=kirkland board=general thread=113319888 post=123943837] BEGINS your quote - note that 'kirkland' is the author I want to quote, and watch for that closing bracket. Then remember that *left bracket*/quote] ENDS your quote. You can delete ANYTHING in between, even quotes by other people... Now let's say I'm quoting 2 different people - this is how I do it: When I have my first quote in the message box, I delete unnecessary verbage and 'preview' until I have it like I want it, but instead of POST REPLY, I'll SELECT ALL and CUT. Then I QUOTE my second poster and immediately PASTE what I just CUT, either above or below it in the message box. Then I'll play with it again, add my own comments and preview it. I just keep repeating the process for every additional person I quote. Give it a try on this thread if you like, and I'll try to help you figure out what (if anything) you did wrong. I always wondered how to do this too so thanks Lori for explaining it.

Hi All, I'm not even sure if this is an appropriate place to ask this question. If I'm being rude, I apologize. But I've been reading about the "dryice" boards a lot. Is that something here, or elsewhere. Wherever it is, can someone please help me with its internet address?

I tried it already. I asked the same question and Lori GND was kind enough to post the address. I believe this is it. apolojulianne.informe.com (make sure you wade in there with golashes and a wide brimmed hat...and possibly a shovel...)

Oh funny mtnme I was going to mention something along those lines of bringing a shovel. But then I thought well maybe some people just have to sift their own way through things. I wanted to protect her yet let her go. I wasn't even sure if it was okay to give out the site. I was hoping I made an okay call there. I don't want to send someone into dangerous waters.

Yeah tippytappy- you're a better man than I am Gunga Din! You know me- I can never resist the urge to "poke some fun". I was trying to protect her too, hence the shovel and galoshes- but if we are truly sending her into "dangerous waters" as you said, maybe that isn't enough. Maybe she should also bring a canoe...or possibly an aircraft carrier!

I'm trying to think of how to spell the words to hum for you. You know the sound. Hey mtnme, I did Google it like I wrote to her and it did worked for me ... It popped right up to Julianne in her tiger suit and Apolo. Maybe it has something to do with a persons server that maybe it doesn't work for some people. I don't know. I have Comcast if that means anything? Oh well I hope she makes it back safely. Actually, it isn't so much like a sharkey place but it's like that old movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

I just knew I had to find a shark (preferabley swimming) once I had a visual image from Tippys post! So I googled "Shark Emoticon" and clicked around until I found one...sorry I don't remember exactly where. It was emoticons for forums for TV networks. I found a bunch of fun ones- I'll post them later on the smiley thread.
