Thanks Lily for the Jet blue info. It would work for those of you who just want to go to the Vancouver WC and back, Unless they let you do a bunch of one ways. And... thank you, mtnme, for the info for WC 2! ;D Regarding Jet Blue... you have the option to choose 'one-way' reservations. Unfortunately, Jet Blue doesn't fly from SLC to Seattle. That leg would have to be Southwest or others. Jetblue has service to Seattle from Long Beach or San Diego currently.

Thanks Lily for the info. Jet blue doesn't fly from Reno (drano) at all. So Southwest it is.
I'm commited now ( or maybe I should be-LOL!)
ROAD TRIP! Booked my flights. Anyone who wants to hook up with us from SLC to SEATTLE. We booked on Southwest, Monday Oct 20. 10:15am nonstop flight to Seattle. We'll rent a car and drive to Whistler and Vancouver.
Woohoo! We're having fun now!

Great, mtnme... so glad you're going!
I reserved (and paid for) Amtrak Coast Starlight from LA, several weeks ago b/c we love taking that scenery-laden train-ride! The good thing about Amtrak is that the reservation can be cancelled up to the last day if there should be an emergency... but, I sure hope that isn't necessary!

Anthony just posted this at the Yahoo Group. He works at the Hilton Garden Inn, just across the street from the host hotel. I've already made my reservation - thanks, Anthony! Hey all! For those of you who are planning on coming to SLC. The hotel that I work at will be extending a rate just for you all. The rate will be 89 per night. For those of you who stayed there last World Cup, I'm hoping that you will return and bring more people with you. For everyone wanting to make reservations feel free to email me your information. Name, dates, bed request(king or 2 queens) and address. Don't worry about a credit card. I'll just put a hotel hold on all reservations. Once I make the reservation and send you the confirmation email you can call in to add a credit card if you'd like. My work email is anthony.barthell@hilton.com. If it takes me a few days to get back to you don't worry. I'll get your reservation for you. If you have any questions feel free to contact me anytime.
Anthony

I did take the plunge Thursday night - 45 minutes before the midnight deadline - and bought my tix for the 'North American World Cup Tour'! There are 4 to 6 of us doing the circuit.
Looking at the Yahoo Group and from some PM's I've gotten, there are quite a few more who are doing either SLC or Vancouver, but not both.
For those who didn't get in on the SWA airfare deal, I'm sure there will be other opportunities between now and October. Let's all watch out for each other and post any good airfare deals we see from our cities.
Doubling up on rooms and ridesharing keeps the other costs down, and everyone who did so had a great time getting to know each other - so if you want to share a room or a car, just PM me and I'll work on it for you!

Wow, this thisis really taking off! So glad you are all able to commit and getting the group going this early. Anthony sounds like a doll...what a nice guy to get the rate.
I have a regularly scheduled vacation in August, just took my trip to SLC so I'm doubtful that I could do a week so soon. Trying to decide between SLC, Vancouver (long weekends) or St. Louis. Quite frankly, if I can only get to one I want to see Apolo. I'm not that broadminded yet to think that I'd spend big $$$ and time off from work not to see him. I guess I'm not convinced that he'll be racing that early in the season...then again I can see reasons why he WOULD be racing that early in the season...
So I just can't decide what I'll try to get to this year. Believe it or not, I'm also thinking of bypassing the US and Vancouver and heading to Austria later in the season!
Anyone seriously thinking of Austria?

Anyone seriously thinking of Austria? I would love to join you in Austria aaosmts, but I've already blown my travel budget for this year. I'll be lucky to make 2 or 3 domestic ST trips let alone breaking out the passport again. I'm committing to SLC. Looking for a roomie. I'll either drive a rental or chip in on one. Makes no difference to me. (although I can sometimes get a pretty good rate. we'll shop costs closer to time) Can't think of anything that would be more fun than the North American World Cup Tour, but just not sure I can make Vancouver. I already have too much on my plate for that week. Wouldn't mind rescheduling a few things to make the trip with you guys but some of the dates aren't reschedulable. (is that a word?) Also planning on St Louis. It's just a 5 hour drive for me so I'll have a car there. Getting excited now!!!!!

Hello from Mammoth Lakes, California, Everyone!
(We just got here tonight after the closing of the Summer Games/Special Olympics.)
I thought I'd remind travelers to Vancouver... you'll need a passport now. I suggest you get it soon so that you'll have it in time. If you have a passport that is about to expire, check with the regulations for Canada... some countries have different requirements.
... off to bed, it's been a long weekend!!!

I've been absent for some time. SO I'm a bit behind. Does anyone know who is going to St. Louis in December?
My mom and I are trying to go, but airfare is kicking us in the rear. She wants to fly non-stop and the lowest is over $1,200 for two people that includes roundtrip and does not include hotel and food.
:-[I think I'll have to miss this one, unless I win the lotto.

Don't give up yet, Apolostarr, There are deals to be had, ya just have to keep your eye out for them...plus you have several months to do that - and to save up. Southwest out of Long Island wasn't that bad, although they aren't publishing fares for December yet. There are lots of fare deals from NY, so just keep your eyes peeled. Once you're out here, there are people you can hook up with for transport and hotels. St. Louis isn't a very expensive city - as rates go. ...have faith....

expedia has good deals, thats what im looking into I found Expedia to be the highest, they were the ones with the $1,200 deal for two people out of JFK, LGA and Newark. I really hate the other two companies, though I'm sure other members have had deals but Travelocity and Orbitz have not been the best with my family and I.
