I MISS SHORT TRACK!!!!
My husband had an intervention and I'm in ST rehab. But I just can't kick the craving. The chill of the oval. The sight of those skinsuits. The smell of the Zamboni. Sometimes I sit late at night, huddled over my laptop, and watch the ticker numbers go by on msnbc and pretend it's lap times. 12 steps or not....I can't wait for Oct.

What a relief to hear that there are others like me! I'm not alone! I haven't been to the oval so I can onmly imagine the pain of that drug of choice...
Since I couldn't get to the oval, my drug of choice HAd to be GA, OZ, LIve Results, WCSN....
Oh, the groping around the laptop, hiding the obsession from others...
The first line of the step 1 says "we were powerloess over ST, our lives had become unmanageablel"
In december I went to my dauther's xmas part and had my laptop sitting beside me, watcing Nationals as people unwrapped. THEY ENABLED ME!
In February when I went back to dinner they automatically setup me up wiresless again, asking me if ther was any ST to watch...and there WAS that weekend.....ENABLED ONCE AGAIN.
Here it is, almost May, and I feel like i'm free-fallin......

If I didn't have GA and OZ I think I would fall apart.
A few days ago I had trouble accessing GA...it just wouldn't load for me. I had OZ but it wasn't enough. My family knew something was wrong and knew it was safer to just stay away.
Then, GA came back and I was able to get my fix. I live now for May 6 and the chance to see him again before the drought.
The only way I'll be able to make it is with your support. I'm so relieved that I'm not alone...I'm not the only one.

Well, I guess I, too, have to step up, and admit my addiction. But even worse, I have been guilty of getting others hooked on my habit. Seemingly harmless but calculated discussions with anyone who would listen, have enticed my family into coming in October, furthering Short Tracks grip on the unsuspecting. We have also threatened kidnapping and abductions of our fellow board members to ST events, slowly but surely reeling others into our web of shame, - seducing them into a lifetime of addiction. What makes my crimes all the more heinous, - I am completely unrepentant. No ten step program will I partake. Short Track, like chocolate, I refuse to give up. I have no intention or desire to end my wicked ways. I am most certain to end my final wretched days in a frozen ice rink, chocolate in one hand, coffee in the other, and with my last dying breath, utter one last cheer for an athlete of Short Track.

Hahahaha! Short Track withdrawal. I remember when we were going through DWTS withdrawal, too. Luckily we have videos and memories to get us through the rough times. Wildfire's freezer therapy sounds like a good practice as well.

I have never been to a short track event, but I am a really big fan of Apolo's, and I know this may be my last chance to see him in person. I am assuming he will definitely be in St Louis and this is the closest to New Orleans. How do I get decent tickets? (I flew to Pennsylvania to see him dance, am hoping to convince my DH to do this with/for me). Thanks! Donna

Donna The bad news first...tickets usually don't go on sale until about a month- possibly two, before the event. (...So you can save up for that airfare- YOWZA!) The good news,- nationals usually doesn't get as big a turn out as the World Cups, so everyone might be able to purchase VIP tickets again. Both events have their merits, but Nationals is much more intimate. You have a much better chance of meeting the skaters and their parents, which was part of why the whole experience was so wonderful. Just my

seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/olympics/2004421884_olynotes18.htmlSeattle still in running for speedskating trialsMoving the 2009 U.S. Olympic Trials for short-track speedskating to September is making it tougher on Seattle's efforts to land the event. Seattle is viewed by the national speedskating federation as a prime candidate to host the trials because of its proximity to 2010 Winter Olympics host Vancouver, B.C., and because it is the hometown of the Winter Games' biggest name — Apolo Anton Ohno. Other locations expressing interest are Midland, Mich.; 2005 trials host Marquette, Mich.; Milwaukee; and Salt Lake City, headquarters for U.S. Speedskating. The September date (a change from December) narrows the choices for area venues, said Ralph Morton, Seattle Sports Commission executive director. Safeco Field will be tied up with the Mariners. Everett's Comcast Arena can be busy that time of year but is still an option, along with the Tacoma Dome. Kent's new arena won't have a big enough ice surface, Morton said. The group is looking for a site with a minimum of 5,000 seats. The federation is expected to name the trials host sometime this summer. Another possibility for Seattle is an international speedskating exhibition with Ohno as the obvious draw, but that would not hold the same appeal, Morton said. "I don't think anyone would want to watch him just skate," he said. "The race would have to have some meaning."
