Thanks everybody for the info regarding the laptop. It was just a thought. I have another stupid question. What is a repechage? Also the olympic trial next september '09, how many days is it? When does that ticket go on sale?

I'm planning to get Premium seating - I've asked the usual question though - "Is it assigned seating, or open seating within a special 'premium' area?". (If it's assigned seating, we'd have to get together and purchase the tickets as a group if we want to sit together). I'll let ya' know what I hear. Thank you, Lori! If they have any sense at all, it will be general seating. About the laptop -- some of the professional photographers bring laptops. They take their photos and download them right away. Here's my photo of Yuki admiring an image of his son on a photographer's laptop. (Nationals, SLC, December '07) Speaking of photography, I can't wait to give my new DSLR camera a ST workout. I'm going to spring for the lens I really want before the SLC World Cup (okay, not for the lens I really, really want. I could buy a car for that amount of money! But I'll get the lens I both want and can reasonably afford, LOL.) To the ST "virgins" out there...you have no idea. But you will. *evil grin*

I've already gotten a reply about the tickets - there are NO assigned seats. It is open seating within the Premium seating area. EDIT: Stfan, I have a couple of answers for ya'... Repechage is a 'second-chance' round. Skaters who don't advance the first time are given a second run - it's sort of a safeguard in case a skater has a rough trip through no fault of their own. I got a little more info about laptops - they're not banned, but depending on the venue, you'll probably need to obtain a password to gain internet access (like what you do at a hotel). You'll definitely need a password at the Oval. If you have a blackberry and need internet access, I'd use that instead. About Oly Trials, I haven't started thinking that far ahead yet!

National tickets are now available! Directions: Print the Ticket Order Form below. Complete all information Make checks payable to Missouri Speedskating Association Mail form with payment. It's a PDF at the bottom Really great deal on tickets! If planning on going I would send it in ASAP! Edit: I don't think that link is being nice so here's the page: sites.google.com/a/mospeedskating.org/home/Home/us-championships/ticket-information-1Thank you, Autumnsbliss - Great way to make your debut on GA! (Love your name, too! Thanks for the warm welcome! Long time speedskating (short AND long) fan, first time to post the fandom. I was SUPER excited to hear Nationals being in St. Louis, my sister lives down there and it's also her birthday that weekend! ;D So I will definitely be going down for both. Speaking of photography, I can't wait to give my new DSLR camera a ST workout. I'm going to spring for the lens I really want before the SLC World Cup (okay, not for the lens I really, really want. I could buy a car for that amount of money! But I'll get the lens I both want and can reasonably afford, LOL.) Haha, some of those lenses out there are drool worthy and yes, can definitely cut a hole in your wallet. But it's oh so worth it! Can't wait to give my DSLR a workout also on the ST in December. I have done indoor track in college but I know that speedskating on a Olympic quality will be quite a new experience. Have my Sigma 50-150mm 2.8 lens as the lens of choice and hopefully will get some great moments with athletes getting some PRs (or PB). I can recommend some great places for areas in St. Louis that even the winter you will have fun with your camera DSLR or regular Point&Shoot. If we have a winter like last year even St. Louis could get snow (very doubtful but with the wacky midwest weather we had all year can't put it past mother nature). I'm getting WAY to excited for Nationals, I about killed my friend on our run today because I was just SO excited when the ticket info came out.

Did anyone notice that in USS' e-mail announcing the new World Cup lineup it said that this team will represent the US in WC’s I, II, and III. I’d heard rumors that the US would be skipping one or both Asian World Cups, and it appears that we won’t be sending a team to Japan – maybe because it falls so close to Nationals(?) I guess this means that I'll have to cheer for Canada in that one - it'll be difficult, but somebody's gotta do it.

I did notice that, but for reason I thought they were adding it to another qualifying event instead - pardon me, my brain is on overload right now. I wonder why they are skipping. The last time they did that it was because of funding. Interesting... I wonder if Apolo will do what he did that time as well - go anyway (with a private sponsor of course). Or maybe not. Just a thought.

Good morning ST fans I was just checking my mail on a break and was lucky to get a response to a questioned I had ask last night about Nationals. Looks like cameras are safe for Nationals and most likely the WCs. As an athlete, I know being close to athletes with a flash is not very fun (even if you are a professional), plus it would be futile with the glass wall to just reflect. I will be loaded with my long and short fast lenses to keep a light load in what I'm bringing. Forgot to ask about the laptop, but I really doubt I will have time to make any use of it. Specially for how exciting the meet should be. December can't get here fast enough.

Cameras w/o flash are good for the events. At WC 6 the crowd was very rowdy, but also lots of fun. The Koreans brought a drum, the US fans just brought their voices--really didn't need anything else--but at one point the Start Judge warned everyone who had a bell or whistle to not use them inside the OVAL. It's called the "bell lap" for a reason and I don't think it was named in honor of the fan's noisemakers! LOL

Thanks for all the info and pictures everyone! I am SUPER excited too...just like autumnsbliss said! YAY! =) And thanks Gasp for the info...<leaving the cowbell home>! LoL! I completely understand that cheering is important and gets everyone pumped, and that's all that's needed. And thanks for the heads up on the "no-flash" thing as well...going to the last SLC WC I didn't know until I got there that there were no flashes allowed, and I couldn't turn my flasf OFF so I didn't get pics the first day. So good thing to remember! Thanks again!

Yeah in UT it's been shown on TV. That was the first time I've seen it, I'm sure they'll play it several more times! Wish I could have uploaded it, but it was so random and I'm not sure where I could find it?? I'll look around and see what I can do. =)
PS- I saw it on KSL (UT Channel 5). If that helps?! They tend to reach a wider audience so this is good!!!
