I have officially retired from skating. I can't say whether or not it's forever. I have recently moved to Phoenix and am attending the university of Phoenix. I am ready to start the next chapter of my life and am excited to see what the future holds. Maybe in time I will miss my past life as a speed skater and return. I am having fun being normal and not having to workout all day long...lol...I am however training for 5k's and 10's and doing random races. I will always be a competitor no matter what I am doing, its hard to get rid of that.

I want to say thank you so much to the people who support the athletes of the Rockerfund. Having your support has made all the difference in my skating career. It truly is amazing to have fans that will go out of their way to make sure you have what you need to be the best at your sport. Not only do you support the athletes on World teams and Olympic teams, but you help support the ones working and striving to be one of those athletes. Hopefully one day thanks to your help and support the dreams of those skaters will come true. I can't even put into words what your letters and contributions to my skating have meant to me. You have opened your hearts and showed us that you value what we do. You honor us by just believing in our abilities to accomplish our dreams. I am forever grateful for all you have done. Thanks again for loving the sport that I love.

Julian Wood is Skater of the Month for April, and will be our last SOTM due to lack of fan interest and participation. Please give whatever you can and send him out with a bang.

Julian suffered a horrendous injury during a skating practice while he was living with Lori (girl next door) which had her sitting vigil at the hospital during a very scary operation and scenario. He cut through 4 muscles, nearly severed his Achilles tendon and was a mere heartbeat from slicing his femoral artery. That's a heck of an injury to come back from, and yet, not only did he come back, but he won a silver medal at Junior Championships which earned him a spot on the Junior World Championships Team that competed in Taipei. He also won gold in his age-class at last March's Nationals. He's still got a ways to go in recovery, but he certainly is doing MUCH better than anyone ever expected.
We'll be seeing great things from Julian in the future.

The TRF website will stay up as an archive, and all are welcome to continue to support the skaters who have not retired. Also look to the National Skaters tab, which has links to the individual skater's websites, where you can often find donation info, blog posts and/or addresses to order skater merchandise - like T-shirts.

The Ice & Times blog, Rocker U and the Boots and Blades forum will continue on as the place for posted ST and skater news and info

Thank you so much to all the fans who have participated in donations to the skaters over the past two years. They appreciate it more than you know. Your generosity has made it possible for them to continue training when they weren't sure where they were going to get the money to do it. You helped them pay for ice time, coaching fees, much needed equipment and travel costs.

I need to make a special thank you to Lindsey who generously allowed us to start TRF on her site. In doing so, you not only are fans of Apolo, but many of you became fans of short track and the other skaters as well. The majority of donations came from members here at GA, and you can all be proud of that.

So Thank you again to all of you.
