LOL. That is direct proof of what Peggy told me back in 2006 - how Jordan is an avid scrapbooker (like a girl! ). That is so cute! I need to finish my pages still...geez. How does he find time to do it?! :]

How does he find time to do it?! :] I bet it's a great scrapbook, too! Now as for me, I still have my high-school athletic clippings sitting in a bin somewhere, LOL. Does Jordan give lessons? I got a really great photo of Jordan at the U.S. Championships. I'll have to find a way to get it to Peggy once I Photoshop it.

Request:
We seem to have a bit of a breakdown in communication with donations to Jeff. Some of you gave your donations to his dad during US Championships. I've also gotten a few pm's that some folks checks haven't cleared yet, (including my own). I find myself at a loss to track the grand totals for this endeavor so that I can post an update.
I hate to ask this, as I don't usually know who donates what and to who individually, but this once, I could use a little help.
If you donated to Jeff, could you let me know (in a pm) how much ...and if your check has cleared. (If it hasn't, I need to do some research as to where the checks are and 'rattle someone's cage' so to speak...LOL)

Even the Brits are doing a little fund raising for their short track speed skaters. Seems to be a world-wide concern.
OGILVY'S FUND-RAISER FOR SPEED SKATER CLAIRE PIRIE
Mine host Tracy Douglas is getting her skates on for the novel event which will raise funds for Glamis speed skater Claire Pirie.
Sixteen-year-old Claire, a pupil at Webster's High School, is hoping to skate her way into the Great Britain squad oADVERTISEMENTf short track speed skaters, and all the money raised at the fashion auction will help her in her quest to realise her dream.
Claire has been skating for the last three years and trains with the Dundee team.
Tracy said: "Claire is the fastest female skater in the club and overall fourth fastest.
"Last year she was awarded with a trophy from the club coaches for being the most improved skater of the year.
"The better she gets the more demanding the sport becomes and she is finding it very expensive travelling all over the country to take part in competitions.
"But her family and her coaches believe she has the potential to succeed. They believe in her and think she could make it to the team, which would be great for Claire and local sport in the area.
"We have agreed to organise a fundraising event to help her funds and to help her achieve her goal."
Tracy is now making a plea to the public for donations of smart outfit's (perhaps an outfit worn to a wedding and stuck at the back of the wardrobe), shoes and handbags etc. for the fashion auction.
She continued: "We will then hold an auction of all the items, but many will be modelled on our catwalk to allow customers to see them properly.
"All items will be available for perusal before the auction starts. We will also hold a raffle on the evening, and will sell tickets to attend the event priced at £2 each."
Among the guests on the evening will be Lady Strathmore who has agreed to donate items.
If anyone has items they no longer require and wish to hand them in they can leave them in the Ogilvy Bar.
However, Tracy stresses the fund-raiser is not a jumble sale, and she would prefer whole outfits of reasonable quality.
Any items that do not sell will be given to local charity shops.
The Ogilvy Bar and its patrons are renowned for their community spirit and their efforts for raising funds for local groups and organisations.
Tracy added: "I'm sure the fashion auction could be a great night, and will kick start this year's fundraising.
"We already have a list of requests from local groups and hope to beat last year's total of £5,200 raised and given to various local charity and needy causes."

Hi All! I'm giving you all the 'Heads Up', that the Prada Bag that Wags donated and had Apolo sign is set to go up on auction on E-Bay Sunday night. (The actual listing won't show up until Lori 'pulls the trigger', but we wanted you all to know about it ahead of time.) We'll post again once it is officially up. Below the photo is the rough draft of how it will work. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ This is an auction solely for the purpose of raising money for our USA Short Track speedskaters through a grass-roots-fan-based fund-raising group called The Rocker Fund (TheRockerFund.org). We have been operating for less than a year and have raised several thousand dollars for the skaters who have elected to participate in our fundraising efforts as they pursue their athletic goals.
There are a lot of people from our short-track websites who will be following this auction, so for those who are familiar with us - I'm Lori (aka Girl Next Door) - the seller name is from back when I was selling off some of my Pfaltzgraff dinnerware...
The item offered is a genuine Prada purse, autographed by Apolo Anton Ohno during World Cup #2 in Vancouver, Canada (October, 2008) - the wording is as follows:
"Apolo Anton Ohno; 2002 & 2006; 5xMedals!"
The purse itself is roughly 5 years old, and cost $475 new. It has only been used seasonally, and has been dry cleaned yearly. It is grey tweed with woven fabric handles - approx. 15"W x 10"H x 5"D.
It is typical in celebrity autograph auctions to show a picure of the athlete signing the item, but because the autograph was not obtained with the intention of re-sale, we don't have that to offer. Instead, we'll share the fun story of how the autograph was obtained by Karen C., and how she came to donate it to The Rocker Fund. "My Meeting With Apolo" - Chapter 1 Deb, Joyce and I were stretching our legs during a Zamboni break when all of a sudden Deb pokes me and says, "There's your man. You better go say Hello." And she was pointing to Apolo. Well OK then! I went up to him and stuck out my hand and told him, "Hi, my name's Karen and I just wanted to tell you how much I admire you and enjoy your skating." He shook my hand, said "Thanks", and I walked off. When I got back to Deb and Joyce I decided that just wouldn't do. Not good enough to tell the grandkids. So....we went back to where he was standing and I started asking for a sharpie. Fortunately Joyce (bless her) came to the rescue and produced a sharpie for all of us. I went back up to Apolo and told him, "This is just how much I admire you. Would you please sign this." I hand him the pen and my purse. He starts to sign and then his eyes get real big when he realizes it's a Prada bag. He looks back up at me and says, " Uh, no. No, no I can't sign this". I say, "It's OK. It's an older bag and this is it's last season anyway". He says, "Are you sure"? And I tell him, "Yes, please." And then when he starts to hesitate again I say, "It's really OK". He starts to write on it and looks up at me and I say, "You better make this good". Then he laughs and says, "Yeah, I guess!" When he was done, I thanked him and walked off.
Chapter 2 Later that evening I decided, that with everyone's approval, I would donate the bag to The Rocker Fund to be auctioned off as a fund raiser. After much discussion we thought I should try to get Apolo's OK to do this. After all, I didn't want him to think I had an ulterior motive when I asked for his autograph. The next day I found Yuki (Apolo's dad) and introduced myself and asked him if he knew about The Rocker Fund. He said he did and I went on to explain that I had gotten Apolo's autograph yesterday and would Apolo mind if I donated it to TRF for a fund raiser. He was very gracious and said it would be fine. Anything to help the young skaters would be great. I thanked him and explained my stance that I didn't want Apolo to think I had this in mind when I had him sign my bag. Yuki said, "Oh. You had the Prada!".
So I guess Apolo told him about some crazy lady that didn't have any more sense than to ruin a perfectly good Prada! (Great impression Karen, just great!!!)Please help our USA skaters by being generous with your bids! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO BIDDERS:
Normally, the Rocker Fund takes a 'hands-off' policy toward donations - checks are sent directly to the skaters, and fund organizers never see or touch them. We depend on voluntary reporting by the skaters to determine our effectiveness. However, since this auction is an unusual situation, we are giving several options for payment - Paypal or Personal Check.
Payment instructions:
A) We ask the winning bidder to take a look at the skaters on our website, www.therockerfund.org. and choose a skater whose story touches your heart.
C) PAYMENT BY CHECK: Please make out your check DIRECTLY TO YOUR CHOSEN SKATER, and send it to me at the address that will be provided to you upon winning the auction. I will then forward the check to the skater. The process will be a bit slower than Paypal, because we will need to forward the check to the athlete, 'light the fire' under him/her to deposit it promptly, and ensure that the check has cleared before shipment will be made. I promise to give you updates about every step of the process. We offer this option in order to give you the greatest confidence possible that we will distribute the funds as promised.
B) PAYMENT VIA PAYPAL: This will expedite the process - shipment will be made (from Karen in Tennessee) within 7 days. If using the Paypal option, please let us know which skater you would like to receive your donation.
In either case, your receipt will be a thank-you note from 'your' skater, and we hope that the process will create a bond that will inspire you to come out and see him/her compete someday!

Finally. I know it took awhile to get this worked out, but what great timing it is now! With many corporate sponsors dropping out of THEIR Olympic committments, it's nice to see the fans rallying around their sport. I wonder if the final purchaser wants the authentication story signed and sealed by Apolo, he would do it.
Karen--kudos to you for your generosity. Joyce and the sharpie(s)--that is too funny. Somebody in the crowd is always prepared.
Let the Bidding Begin and/or Go to the Start......

;D thanks wags for your generosity............ I couldn't get to the bidding page with the attached link Is it working for anyone? unfortunately, the link is too long for the forum and just clicking on it won't work. Highlight the link, copy it, and paste it in the internet address box at the top of your screen. That should take you right to it. (I just tried it, so it is working) Bids are up to $100 so far for the bag!
