Nothing against Apolo, and I do want to see this, but I respect Shani even more.

If Apolo is on DWTS, he has my vote. IMHO, this is a win/win situation for him because he gets his name out to people that didn't watch the games, he gets the name of his sport out there, and he gets a good workout by dancing. I watched DWTS for the first time last season, and only to watch Emmit Smith. After the first show, I kept watching because of Emmit and Mario. Mellie!! *waves* Glad to see you chiming in. Elle, I know you have been against it from the start. Maybe you'll feel differently when you see Apolo shakin' his groove thang! NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm staying strong to the end. off course, I'm never, never sure until it happens for sure, which I'm hoping I don't have to see. In pictures anyways. We don't get those programs here where I live. But I know about them from the Internet.

If I could find a partner I would try for The Amazing Race in a heartbeat! I've travelled off and on over the years but would love to do more. I have to pace myself on a teacher's income, though. Susie, I'd love to be on the Amazing Race - I think we'd make a dynamic duo! Laura - I think we're all feeling a little unsure. But yes, it will be nice to see him on TV Guest II & Tabs - “Neither irony or sarcasm is argument.” (Samuel Butler), but it is interesting to observe, huh? In any case, Apolo seems not to be easily influenced by anyone in his inner circle. Although he may listen to their advice, in the end, he's gonna do what he thinks is best regardless of what anyone else thinks. And I wonder if Shani is really that anti-Hollywood or if it's the other way around. Shani was never the media darling that Apolo has been from the start. But that's a whole other discussion. enelyak - I know how you feel. There's part of me that wants to support his endeavors, but part of me is like, "No, no! Don't go into the light!!" Sintha - Welcome back, woman!

Not sure what to say here. I guess I just wish that when he made a statement that he would stick to it. He needs better management/PR maybe. Obviously he is going to do what he wants, no matter what, whether it be professionally or personally.

I think that sometimes comments are made (by everyone) without really thinking them through. Maybe Apolo had never really considered DWTS and didn't feel it was something that he would want to do. However, after some research into the show he realized that it could be fun as well as a great way to gain some exposure. I'm sure Apolo has a good head on his shoulders and has considered the pros and cons of appearing on the show. If he is on DWTS I wish him the very best. Let's support whatever decision he made.

I'm glad we finally know this is true as reported by Good Morning America and the DWTS site. It's nice that one of his costars is the daughter of one of his heros, Muhammad Ali. I remain convinced that this is a good move for Apolo since he wants more exposure for himself and short track in general. I am sure he will do well! The worst that can happen is that he doesn't get whatever result he's seeking by appearing on the show. But at least he will have tried, instead of mostly staying hidden away in CO and usually only surfacing (here in the U.S.) in a few short track photos once in a blue moon. I will be very happy to see him on television often. As an American fan, it stinks that I can usually only see him in still photos. Now I'm going to have to actually vote, whereas I did not in the past. Last season was my first time watching this show. I was drawn to it by Joey Lawrence but only watched the first few episodes. I am in for the long haul now, though. As long as Apolo is on, I'm watching. Links to GMA article and DWTS site: abcnews.go.com/GMA/Entertainment/story?id=2890554&page=1abc.go.com/primetime/dancing/

I look forward to seeing this...but I am little nervous about the fact that he has a new dancer as his partner (new to the show anyway) and that she is so young. But, we'll see! I was a bit nervous about that, too! 18 years old! However, I have a friend I've known since elementary school whose parents own a dance studio and she has been ballroom dancing most of her life. She started assisting in teaching classes very young. At our 5th grade graduation ceremony, a couple of the parents who had taken her classes were talking about how great a teacher she was, at 10 years old! She also began competing at a young age and she and her husband (who is also her dance partner) are very successful in domestic and international competitions. So, Apolo's very young partner may be able to pull this off and guide him to victory. Of course I'm hoping she does.

*breathless*
It's official. Hold on everyone and enjoy the ride.
Nice to see more members chiming in!
His partner does seem pretty young, but Apolo is pretty young too, and she's been dancing since she was a kid. Hopefully she's got the moves to match those pretty blue eyes.
Sintha, check out the link about to the DWTS site.

Does anyone know if the shows will be archived online like all the other ABC shows? My housemate's boyfriend took his TV to a friend's house and I have no idea when it will be coming back (even tho we are still paying for cable, lol!). I'm thinking of buying a TV, but I'd love it if they were shown online. I'll be sick if I can't watch these!

I would imagine that since several of their other shows are avilable online after they air, it would seem logical that DWTS would too. But, I've never watched any of their shows online, so I don't know for sure. I do know that for the last couple seasons, people have uploaded the dances on YouTube, pretty much every week. Most of the ones I saw though were just the dances themselves...nothing else. They did not include the judging and I personally never saw any video from the results shows...but I admit, I never really looked for the results shows because I knew how it ended & I just wanted to see the dance itself. Obviously, I don't know for sure if those same folks will do that again for this season, but if you only want to see the dance itself, it's worth checking.
