I just read on the OZ that Apolo will be on the show which begins March 19. Could this really be happening? Somebody pinch me because this like a dream come true! Since the source of the info is a gossip columnist on E!, and the info is not up on Apolo's site or the Dancing with the Stars site yet, I am going to try to reserve my excitement until I see or hear some firm evidence. Ahh, I just got that blurb from E! in a google alert. I love DWTS & Apolo's presence will make it all that much better!! Tabs & I used to talk about it every week after it aired. As much as I'd love to see him work it, I seem to recall a fairly recent interview in which he was asked about reality shows, and asked if he'd do DWTS...and he said no!!! But, maybe he's since changed his mind...or maybe they offered him a very nice sum of $$$!! I watch the show regardless, but I think it would be fun to watch him take a stab at ballroom!! Here is what I got in the google alert, I've only posted Apolo's reference below. The link to the entire article is below. www.eonline.com/gossip/kristin/blog/index.jsp?uuid=b4bab56b-6b17-46d8-9d6d-0df3eb1cf55dFrom Janey: Have you heard anything about the upcoming Dancing with the Stars this March? Jennifer Aniston might guest star?
Yes, and Elvis and the Easter Bunny, too…In an alternate universe, they are doing the cha-cha. In this universe I can tell you I've just heard exclusively from an ABC source that Olympic speed-skating champ Apolo Ohno has signed on for the new season.

Christy, I thought I remembered him saying that he didn't want to appear on the show either - that it was "cheesy" and not "authentic to who he is." I thought that was a strange thing to say since he likes to dance. I've said before that I would like to see him dance by himself, to one of his favorite songs. But I love Dancing with the Stars and ballroom dancing in general, so I hope this is true.

Yep, I know he used to breakdance...and I've seen him breakdance...but that's a far cry from ballroom dancing!! Haha!! Should be interesting. Though, it would be fun to see him let loose a little and get down by himself.

Here's the quote I was thinking about from a USOC interview in September, 2006: Have you ever been approached to be on a reality TV show?“Yeah, but I don’t know. Some reality shows are so cheesy.” No ‘Dancing with the Stars’ in your future?“Ah no! No way! Nothing like that. It would have to be authentic to me at least a little bit. But I think there’s an opportunity. I like watching ‘The Contender’ so I think we should do something like that.” Link to full article: www.usoc.org/11499_49193.htm

Yep, that's the article I was thinking of. If it's true, I'd love to know what changed his mind...

Yep, that's the article I was thinking of. If it's true, I'd love to know what changed his mind... I'd like to know that, too. Maybe he'll talk about that. If it's true, he is going to look great out there on the dance floor, that's for sure. I must stop thinking about this now as I said I wouldn't until I had proof. heh heh.

I hope it's not true...DWTS is way too cheesy of a show for AAO to be on...stick to skating Apolo! I'd rather see him on The Amazing Race (he said he'd like to do that show.) No tight tight pants, wide open shirts, sequins, ruffled shirts *shudder*...it's looks so *coughgaycough* I admit, I watched the show last season...lol but it's not the best reality show ever.
I'll wastch if he's on it, but...*puts head in hands* I'd rather have him skating!

excuse me for bursting anyone's bubble but, I dislike the idea of Apolo being in any reality program. This sucks. In my opinion, people that appear in reality programs are sorta desperate for fame. ok...... maybe not so desperate but, they do want it no matter what. I very much dislike this kind of programs. They suck. All I see in those shows are "has-beens". He's not a "has-been". He's this atheletic dude. Wot the hell. It's so funny. I could believe it when I read it. Crap...... wot is he doing? anyways, that was a nice chat.

TMZ has leaked several of the upcoming cast members of DWTS. No mention of Apolo...yet?? Guess we'll see. www.tmz.com/2007/01/22/dancing-with-the-stars-cast-revealed/TMZ has exclusively learned the names of several celebs set to do the cha cha cha on the new season of "Dancing With the Stars."
Country crooner Billy Ray Cyrus (that's "Hannah Montana's" dad for you tweeners), former "90210" star Ian Ziering and Muhammad Ali's daughter Laila Ali will join former *NSYNC member Joey Fatone in trying to wrestle Emmitt Smith's Season 3 crown.
Despite earlier reports, one star who will not be shaking her royal groove thang is the original Fergie, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York. Fergie's fellow countrywomen, Sharon and Kelly Osbourne, were set to join the cast but have since backed out.
A rep for "Dancing" had no comment, saying "We can't confirm any castings at this point."
