I was wondering if it is usual to have 6 competitors for World Cup. This is an exerpt from an article from usspeedsking: Also selected through this competition was the World Cup Team. This team includes the skaters who made the World Team, as well as additional member, the skater ranked number 6, Tina Koenig, North Ridegville, OH< for he ladies and Simon Cho, Laurel, Maryland for the men. These athletes will represent the United States in World Cup 5 in Quebec City, Canada February 1-3, and World Cup 6 in Salt Lake City, Ut, February 8-10.I was just wondering if maybe some of you more experienced folks knew if 6 is the usual number rather than the 5 that make up the World Championship team. Does this mean that Tina is taking Allison's place and Simon is taking Apolo's....or do they just have 6 competitors rather than 5. They have an alternate (or a 'spare' if you will) in case someone gets injured or they can't compete in that race for whatever reason. I think I read that last year, when Apolo was doing Dancing with the Stars and couldn't be there for one of the competitions, that gave Jordan Malone the opportunity to skate instead.

if that's the case...simon cho (6th) would take apolo's spot of the world cup team. oohhh...if i were going to slc next month, i'd sure want to see apolo competing ...i see your concern starr . I do want to support short track, i love the sport, but i think that if apolo was going to WC 5 or WC 6 it would influence my decision to make the next step. He did this in 2007 as well, competed at Nationals, skipped the two WC's after and then competed at World's. Obviously DWTS was a decisive reason for him being so busy and unable to compete at the two WC's. And in 2006 was the Olympics ..in 2005 he did attend all WC's... So it's a gamble ..I'm putting money a side just incase..but I am not investing anything yet until it's definite. Let's hope he does decide to compete in WC 5 or 6 or BOTH!

This was posted in the SLC thread, but I think it belongs here too! BTW: Lily got an e-mail from Peri Kinder at USS - she said Apolo isn't skating in Quebec, but WILL skate in SLC WC 6... thanks, Lily!~

This isn't earth shattering, but I thought it was cute. In a search for pictures for a picture thread, I came across starpulse.com. They have a couple dozen pictures of Apolo, from his DWTS days, and then on the left bar you can click on "Quotes". On that page, it doesn't give any actual quotes, but it has a link to this site. Just thought that was great! The link is here: www.starpulse.com/Athletes/Ohno,_Apolo_Anton/Quotes/ Though it doesn't give any info we don't already know!

In the future, please post news in the Apolo News, pt. 2 thread, since I don't want what happened in the SLC thread to happen here, since this is one of our longer threads...
