Hawaiian fan Keohinani met Apolo at his appearance on KSSK's Perry & Price show at the John Dominis restaurant.

Awww, such sweetness! Lovin the pictures! You know, I'm just guessing that winter sports aren't exactly huge in Hawaii, but he still has a gang of fans there and they've come pouring out to see him.

yes - our mayor is quite huge! he really was that much taller than apolo and that woman.
no - i'm not 5'8" i was really shocked to see how short apolo really is. i'm 5'3" but i did have heals on, so perhaps i was more like 5'5"-5'6"? i know we all commonly think he's 5'8", but reamember reading somewhere that he's 5'6"....
and OMYGAWD, susie! those are awesome pictures! d**nit, i can't believe how fricken cute you two look. he looks so relaxed, you look so happy, and your top is really awesome!

hey susie...one more question: what did you guys talk about? he's pretty easy laid back, huh? d**n, if there wasn't a line behind me, i would have talked story with him forever! were there other people waiting around you while he signed your picture? man, i would have just sat down with him and his friends and started eating breakfast with all of them!

LOL -- no, that's not me, Taryn -- I could only wish that I was there. I've been searching for more Hawaii photos and I figured that the blogs of Hawaiian girls would be a logical place to look. I'm still searching for those beach/surfing photos -- someone's got 'em.
So that you can get a mental image: I'm Caucasian, 5'6'' tall, and I have blonde hair and green eyes. I'll post a photo of me sometime.
I've seen Apolo's height listed as either 5'7" or 5'8", and I think that's about right. He had skates on when I met him, but even taking that into account I was still looking up at him by a couple of inches.

A highly respected person working as a psychologist (or anything else for that matter) would have the right mind to think twice before compromising their career. Is David a psychologist?

Susie, thanks for posting the new pics! Keohinani's blog entry was fun to read! Taryn, I agree that the outfit she's wearing is awesome (she says it's a dress -- I'd like to find one like it!) And, she says she was not even there to see Apolo and just learned who he was that day! Lucky lady! no - i'm not 5'8" i was really shocked to see how short apolo really is. i'm 5'3" but i did have heals on, so perhaps i was more like 5'5"-5'6"? i know we all commonly think he's 5'8", but reamember reading somewhere that he's 5'6".... I remember reading that, too. A reporter wrote something like, "Ohno, who is listed as 5'8", but is really more like 5'6"..." And, I remember in an NBC video, Apolo said Shani Davis is 6'4", while the info I've seen lists him as 6'2" and 6'3". I did not know if Apolo was just exaggerating the way guys do since he was trying to explain why he can't beat Shani at basketball. So, I'm not sure what is true. If their heights are not accurately represented in "official" listings, that would certainly explain the extra big difference in their heights in photos -- possibly 5' 6"/ 6' 4", or 5' 6"/ 6' 2" instead of 5' 8"/ 6' 2". I mean, 6 inches is a big enough difference, but sometimes it looks like more than that to me. I hope that made sense -- it's late here. Hee!

Yes, Bella. Noelle mentioned over at OZ that he's finishing up his PhD at UCLA. The help that he gave Apolo was in the area of sports psychology, but it seems that his academic interests have evolved or broadened since then.
Epiphaniii, I also like Keohinani's dress. One of my former roommates was from Singapore and she used to let me borrow her beautiful, exotic dresses when I was going out at night.
I wonder if Apolo got his Aloha shirts there. He looks great.

A highly respected person working as a psychologist (or anything else for that matter) would have the right mind to think twice before compromising their career. Is David a psychologist? According to a post Noelle made on the OZ a couple of days ago, David just earned his PhD in psychology. But (and this a general comment, not regarding our Apolo or David), in '06, my *hope* is that no one would fear that having their photo taken at a simple lunch would hurt their career, regardless of their relationship to their fellow diner(s). No one is doing anything unseemly in the photos, so to fear people's reactions to them would be a terrible way to live (and possible grounds for a lawsuit when it comes to employment issues!). Again I say, it is late here, so I hope that made sense!

Susie, you were lucky! One of my college roommates was from Singapore, but she didn't bring any beautiful dresses for me to borrow. She wore "American" stuff all the time. haha
