This is a thread to discuss Apolo's appearance on Project Runway.
With training camp just completed in Vancouver, and since TV shows are apt to shoot a couple of weeks ahead of the airing date, I've been wondering if Apolo is in NYC this week shooting?
And also, what will he wear? The brown suit? One of his signature designer grey t-shirts and dark suitcoat? Something from Michael Kors? THE SHOES?
What do you think?

Will Apolo be on just for 1 show?

i watched the end of this week's Project Runway, where they do a preview of next week's show.
My guess from reading comments here and there is that they are going to be challenged to create a look for a given country's set of duds for the opening and closing ceremonies. I mean, I can't imagine designing Phelps's speedo.
At one point, Michael Kors, in viewing one of the entries, says "what is this...Seargeant Pepper meets the Czech Republic?" Also, one of the designers made a comment that this challenge was not like what he was about, so it may be a stretch for some.
If my guess is correct, taking it a step further...I wonder if they would all design for the US, or be given different countries ,.... or pick they're own.
Sandra Bernhard was a bore as a judge...SHe never smiled, you would have never known she was a comedianne, and she was so over-made-up that her face could have been at a costume party.
It made me wonder if they would use the same strategy with Apolo...not mention him until they introduce the judges, and just have him make a few comments on seeing each entry. I hope not! I'm HOPING that since it is an Olympics theme, they are going to invite him into the Parsons studio to be introduced to the designers and have Tim and Apolo introduce the challenge to them. .... much like they did with Sarah Jessica Parker a season or so ago....
Another thing I wondered about was whether or not Apolo would open himself up to give constructive criticism and not just politely smile and make a few comments. It would be great if he threw his head back and said "I wouldn't be caught dead wearing that!".
Or another thought...wouldn't it be great if APOLO was the model and we saw him wear 10 different desings? And then he could also weigh in wish his opinion when all of the designers were doing their critique...(think of when AO appeared on morning television, modeling the 2006 uniforms and presenting one of the hats to Matt Lauer). Wow...that means we would get to watch 10 different designers "fit" him.
I don't know...this seasons' Project Runway so far is a real bore...hopefully they will use Apolo to spice things up...we'll see him throw his head back and show that great smile and beautiful teeth, and once again he'll dazzle us all.

AAO, I made the same observations and wondered some of the same things last night. I was hoping for a glimpse of Apolo in the preview and was so disappointed that they didn't give us even a taste of him. Oh well, at least I know where I'll be next Wednesday night.

It would be great if he threw his head back and said "I wouldn't be caught dead wearing that!". I'm wondering the same thing! It will be interesting to see to what degree Apolo is willing to level with the designers. Evidently Bravo is running a promo that shows Apolo skating on inlines. I haven't seen it yet.

blogs.fashionclub.com/my_weblog/2008/07/last-nights-epi.html"Next Wednesday's episode entitled "Rings of Glory" features guest judge Apolo Ohno, five-time Olympic medalist and winner of the hit show Dancing with the Stars. My guess is the challenge will have the designers creating an outfit for or inspired by Ohno that is wearable for the Olympics. This should be interesting... " www.sacbee.com/static/weblogs/ticket/archives/014239.html"The contestants must design an outfit for the world's largest sporting competition, inspired by one of its most decorated participants. Guest judge? Speedskater and "Dancing With the Stars" winner Apolo Ohno."

LOL. I'm watching Shear Genius on Bravo and they had a short promo for Project Runway. The narrator says something like "And guest judge...Apolo Anton Ohno." And then they cut to a shot of Apolo and Tim Gunn. From what I can remember, Apolo was wearing blue...like navy. And then Tim says, "Wow" as Apolo walks up. I don't know what that means, but it looks good! I'm excited.

I saw the promo...it must be about 7 seconds long...VERY brief. They had a big white banner with the Olympics rings hanging....in the Parsons sewing room perhaps? Apolo whizzed by on inlines, looked like to be in a track and field house with a track oval. I thing Tim was at this oval and Apolo skated up to him and stopped abruptly just in front of him...I think that was Tim doing his "WOW"! (THink of Apolo skating into Rachel Rae's stduio last fall)
His smile seemed very self-conscious...a tad uncomfortable?
Like I said, it was extremely brief. I'd have to see it again a few times to really prove to myself that what I think I saw is what they showed!
But since the only commercials that Bravo shows are pretty much limited to its own programming schedule, that shouldn't be difficult!

I saw the promo too but I was in the kitchen and almost missed it.
I agree, it was a quick glimpse and I want more!!!
I'm glad that it looks like we'll see more of Apolo than just at the judging.

I've been watching SYTYCD, and Apolo is on opposite the final competition episode. What to tape, what to DVR, what to watch live.... SOOOOO happy to have such a dilemma!

In past experience I have found that the episode repeats the next day, one hour earlier. So, I can watch Apolo on Wednesday at 8 pm CST and again on Thursday at 7 pm CST. I can hardly wait.

Evie, you're absolutely right. Actually, PR is aired at various times throughout the week...tonight I'm watchingt Episode 2 and 3; over the weekend they re-ran all 3 of them. It almost like Bravo-TV doesn't have enough TV programs to fill 7/24 hrs/week. Reruns on reruns of Kathy Griffin, Sheer Genius, Flipping Out, etc. In looking at bravotv.com, there seems to be an internet features of comments by about the show by the guests, contents, etc. As I'm looking at it now, www.bravotv.com/Project_Runway/season/5/watch_what_happens/index.phpIt's called "Are you seeing what happens after the credit rolls?"...But oh-oh, just realized its sponsored by American Express, and you need your card #, or need to sign up for one. I'll keep my eyes posted, as I have a card.... It's a 30-minute program, had a host that I didn't realize...with Sandra Bernhardt and Emily (she lost). It's live right after the show (after that you are watching the tape); you can email into an address that they show; right now she's answering a question from a viewer about her first job... So Get ready Apolo-seekers! You too can watch him on a live program and email in. The next question is that we need someone who is saavy to be able to download this video for us. Someone just emailed Sandra a question about what is her most favorite piece in her closet right now (she said nothing, she's bored with her clothes)....do you think Apolo will say....his SHOES? Another intereting point...the judges made their decision without her...and asked her to go along with it. She didn't agree with who the winner OR the loser was.

Here's a sneak peek of PR . The only thing they show of Apolo is him skating around the track and stopping by Tim Gunn and there the preview stops. However, there is a great shot of some powerful legs that we all know and love. video.bravotv.com/player/?id=282564
