I've missed the last two seasons of Idol, but so many people are talking about it at work that I had to check it out this time around. Am I the only one who thinks that David Archuleta has this in the bag this year? He is one adorable kid...with loads of talent and personality to boot. I also like Michael Johns and Ramiele. Early prediction: David for the win. Michael the runner up.

BUT...this johns guy is very polished and very savvy...12-13 years between them...that's alot of experience gained or lossed (which ever way you see it). now on the girls side, there's 3 gals that i know will be around for awhile (depends how everyone improves).

Hey, Lexi! Yeah, I really enjoy Idol, though I did not watch much when Apolo was on Dancing. I couldn't keep up with two shows, and Apolo was my addiction. But, I have watched AI this season, and I really like David Archuleta, too. I hate to say anyone has it "in the bag" because the show relies on viewer votes, and you just never know. But I'd agree with you that David, Michael Johns, and Ramiele should/hopefully will be in the top three. I also think Jason Castro is a strong contender, with Carly Smithson and Syesha rounding out the top six (for me). My problem with lots of the girls is that they're blond and slender and I can't tell one from another. (And yes, I'm caucasian and I was blond when younger.) They all just seem the same. Nothing stands out. Overall, however, I've really enjoyed the singing and the personalities. I would really like to see Danny go this week -- just a little too bizarre to be an American Idol.

Fan, I think it could easily be a toss up between David and Michael. I'd be happy either way, but I just have a feeling David's got the tween vote and the judges pimping on his side. Not that it's not deserved - he's the whole package. He certainly got my attention and I'm long past that tween phase. Michael is one of the best contestants I've seen on the show in years. I just don't know if the public 'buys' an older Idol. Taylor Hicks went nowhere. Michael's hot to boot. I look at him and I think of a young Michael Hutchence....one of the hottest guys ever in rock 'n roll. Linmiste, I agree about the difficulty in dividing your attention between two shows. I've been skipping Idol for awhile in favor of DWTS, but I'm not too impressed with the cast this year. I may just catch it here and there and devote my time to Idol. I'll only allow myself to get sucked into one show at a time. I get you about the ladies. A lot of them are similar....and young. I think Randy hit the nail on the head when he said this was the year for the young ones to bring their game. Thanks for the reminder about Jason Castro because he impressed me a lot. David Hernandez did too. I just learned that David H. has a past as a stripper. Should be an interesting season.........

I agree that it should be an interesting season... unless someone I think should move on gets voted off early and someone whom I think should leave stays on and on.... When I think of past Idol winners, I often forget Taylor, even though I voted for him. I just thought he was the most interesting of those left at the top. But, I can see that as a recording artist, he might not sell to many albums. Michael Johns, however, has the "cool" factor that would probably carry him far, as long as he ends up in the top three or four on AI. I will definitely tune in to DWTS the first week. Once Julianne is gone (which I expect with Adam as her partner), I'll basically be watching for Derek's sake. I think I'll be more into AI, but you never know. The way I justify watching so much TV is that I do my ironing and mending during the shows! Lexi, I think you're in a different time zone, and I don't want to spoil anything for you by posting before you've see Idol. I'm on Eastern Standard Time, which is the time on this website (I think). Where are you?

I'm probably the first to see the show actually as I'm in the Atlantic Standard Time zone (ie one hour ahead of you).
We'll probably have to hold back our thoughts on tonight until tomorrow as Fan is PST and we don't want to spoil it for her. I'm excited about tonight.

i never 'got' taylor hicks that season...his 'soul patrol' was just a gimmick he played to the hilt to cover his actual lack of talent...he had personality but to become a recording artist you have to have a beautiful voice NO? i was an elliott fan that season...yes he wasn't much to look at but he has the voice and humbleness that i adore! and i knew daughtry has a sh*t load of talent and was going to make it regardless.
this season...david a, michael j, ramiele and i like jason c for his looks
eta: spoilers do not bother me....but there are others here in the pst

Thanks for adding the profiles Fan!
I have to admit I'm not fond of Amanda at all. I don't think she nor Brooke will last much longer.

#1Fan, thanks for posting the profiles as I am not able yet to place the names with the face. I don't know if I'll be watching the entire season as I'll probably be more drawn to DwtS (I'm actually excited about several of this season's contestants), but I think AI has a fairly good group this time around--wasn't too thrilled with last season's finalists (though I must confess I don't watch the show religiously so that may not be a completely fair estimation--and the final seemed to lack a certain spark and not much anticipation for me over who would win--did anyone expect Blake to win?) My favorites are Michael, Ramiele, and Syesha. One final note: Paula is still perplexing
