Great thread, I love all the beautiful pics. ;D I live in Arizona, completely different type of scenry. Its mostly desert, although some of northern AZ have pine trees and get snow in the winter. I had to google these because I don't have any of my own. Sedona, Bell Rock Grand Canyon downtown Phoenix

Mellie, how beautiful. what part of Texas? I have only been to Dallas, which certainly wasn't as green a lush as this! And the falls look totally different after being rebuilt! Mtnme, I live in central Texas. Most of central and south central Texas is green and lush because there are many streams, creeks, lakes and a few rivers in the area. There are about ten lakes and about seven rivers in the Austin-San Antonio metro area. I guess that's why central Texas is known as the flashflood capital of the world. mellie...it's obvious the san marcos river is the lifeline of your town/city.number1fan, I have to say that the San Marcos river is the jewel of our city, but there is another river that runs through our city. The Blanco river runs on the east side of the city, and flows into the San Marcos just outside of the city limits. We do try to take care of it and keep it clean.

Hi guys, Actually I was there in July, in a year when it was "110 in the Shade" in Texas, and the high up there was about 79F. I loved that place. I took a million pictures, so rather that post individual pictures, I'll just give you the link to that part of my web site. www.sd1new.net/butchart_gardens.htmWe went to Seattle the same summer, and here is the link to some of my Seattle pictures. www.sd1new.net/seattle.htmI love to travel, and will post some of my other locations also.

Wow! Wow! Wow! What spectacular photos everyone has. I'm so jealous of the beautiful places so many of you hail from. I'll have to add them all to my travel list. As for me, I'm in the city of Halifax in the Province of Nova Scotia on the South Eastern coast of Canada. We're situated in the Atlantic Ocean and almost completely surrounded by water; no part of the province is more than 35 miles from the ocean. We're known for our Scottish heritage, Gaelic culture, ceilidhs (kitchen parties), celtic music, highland dancers and pipe bands and amazing hospitality. We're referred to as 'Maritimers'. The leader of our Province, our Premier, is only 34 years old and an accomplished musician and champion fiddler to boot. Only in Canada! Halifax is the Atlantic base for Canada's Navy and as the many sailors who live or visit here will tell you, they love our nightlife best and we proudly boast.......... Trivia: Halifax, Nova Scotia is famous for having the greatest number of Titanic victims buried in one spot. One grave belongs to J. Dawson who was a coal trimmer and part of the Titanic crew. If you recall the movie, Leonard DiCaprio's character was Jack Dawson and fans of the movie believe that one grave there, J. Dawson's, was the final resting place of Leo's character. Ironically, director James Cameron said that he was not aware of Joseph Dawson until after finishing his Titanic screenplay. Still, lovestruck fans of the movie still flock to J. Dawson's grave here and leave movie stubs, personal photos, flowers and pictures of Leonardo DiCaprio. Following the movie and several years afterwards, tour buses regularly made the rounds at the cemetary. It was mayhem as you can well imagine at the time! One of our city's most popular restaurants was the former morgue for Titanic victims and is said to be haunted. Our Maritime Museum of the Atlantic houses original artifacts from the Titanic. One of the pieces on display is lounge panelling - one piece of which many believe Kate Winslet's character floated on at the climax of the movie.

Lisam thanks for the incredible grand canyon pics. ( I still haven't been there...and I have no excuse!) My folks live in Prescott, AZ- so should be able to swing a trip eventually. Thanks Lexi, I knew I could count on you. Nova Scotia is beautiful. ( In fact, I was just thumbing through a magazine today advertising cruises to and around N.S. --someday...) Sara, haven't gotten to yours yet, but I will soon! Thanks everyone for the wonderful pics. I'm glad everyone is enjoying this thread.

kirkland, I pm you about the photobucket and multiple quotes. (lexi is on vacation this week and will probably be here intermittently.) Wow, beautiful pics, lexi! #1fan - I live in Hawaii and totally take our waves for granted! I know what you mean about taking things for granted.I've lived in various parts of the west and rocky mountains all my life. I did tend to take mountains for granted, I've always been around them. This being a tourist town, there were alway people up here wandering around town with their jaws open and a perpetual state of wonderment, which I didn't always "get". That was until my parents moved to Missouri for several years. A beautiful area to be sure, but certainly different terrain. ( To quote my dad: " We have ski hills here...emphasis on " hill") While flying back into Reno/Tahoe, I suddenly saw the Sierras in a totally different light. These massive arcs of granite and trees that virtually thrust out of the flat plains around them is an amazing site to see if you have never witnessed it before. Hopefully this thread will help everyone to see where they live through another's eyes. If anything is apparent so far on this thread, it's that every place on the globe has its' own beauty, and I am SO enjoying seeing it. Thanks everyone for the great pics! Keep 'em coming.

Shame on you Angelina. You take the waves for granted. But I don't think that's uncommon. We probably all get use to our environment and don't realize what we have until it's gone. I agree with Lexi, if you have any pics please share them. I've been to Hawaii once. Loved it too. It really is paradise.
