For awhile now, some of us on the board have been talking about (or threatening, depending on your viewpoint) a thread about photos of where we live or great places we have been. You can also discuss why you love living there (...or maybe you hate it, but are stuck there for whatever reason... ) I know some of you live in S. Cal. - beach pics please!!! or whatever else tickles your fancy. For those of you fortunate to live in areas that have "seasons", please feel free to post pics of the varying scenic moments during the course of a year . - Or just special places that are near and dear to your heart. As many of you know, I live at Lake Tahoe, so here are some of my favorite pics: East shore of the lake (this is the narrow end, and the lake is big, I would need a very wide angle lens to capture the whole thing, especially lengthwise. Bayview trail, one of my favorite hikes. Lots of trails follow waterfalls, you just have to know where they are. This one is on the south end of the lake, off of emerald bay (you've all seen my avi- it was already posted in large scale on introduce yourself thread) North shore of the lake - YES, the water really is this blue! Turquoise to cobalt in many areas. Kawabunga! surfs up! You can tell we are heading into fall, the wind picks up and the breeze gets brisk,. ( It was a bit nippy this morning...) This is Donner Lake. ( YES, the Donner Lake you read about in school!) It's about 15 minutes from Tahoe, in the town of Truckee. There is a cafe that has been there forever which used to have T-shirts which said " Donner Kitchen, who's for lunch??!!"...sick, sick, sick... I'm looking forward to seeing everyone else's "hometown". (Especially those of you living outside of the US- I am vicariously feeding my wanderlust....)

mtnme, your pictures are absolutely breathtaking! It looks like such a beautiful place to live. Lucky you! Butterfly, my sister lives in Pennsylvania. It has lovely scenery too- and so much history!!! (although you can have the humidity!) Post a favorite pic of where you live. I think it gives people a "visual" place associated with a person when we see a name on a post. Plus, I'm curious....

I live in West Chester, PA. I've been living here for 8 years now. Before that I lived in Brookhaven, PA. This is the front of the house: I can't seem to find a picture with the whole house.. This is the front yard: I hope this house in Virginia will be mine. It's been in our family for over 100 years. It was the first mansion on Main Street, they called it. It's beautiful. Love your pictures, btw, mtnme! beautiful!

Hey Jenna, How green it is there. Looks like spring with a cherry blossom tree perhaps? Cute little brick house. Thanks for the photos.

Hey Jenna, How green it is there. Looks like spring with a cherry blossom tree perhaps? Cute little brick house. Thanks for the photos. I just met somebody who came to our house just a half an hour ago, she was from California. She's a mormon. She said she loved it here cause it was so green. Yea, it's that green, I guess. Now the trees are changing color cause it's almost autumn. I love that time of year. I'll try to get a picture of it when it changes, it's beautiful!

mtnme, great thread for all of us to get acquainted! ;D I hope to contribute soon also... but for the next two weeks, we're helping 2 grandkids move back to their college housing (2nd year). One's going to Cal Poly SLO and the other to UC Santa Barbara, so we'll be on the road for several days... and we have to traverse the LA freeways, since we are down in north San Diego county. Once I get some free time, I hope to post many photos!

We've ridden that route on the Amtrak many times. Yes Lily, it is the train tracks. (I used to live at Donner lake and could see the train as it scooted across the top of the mountain from my living room window). I've always wanted to take that train down to Sac. by the way. Haven't gotten around to it yet...

You're a brave soul.... **eagles music playing in the background** what the photos can't portray is how powerful and loud the waves are...mother nature definitely wowed us that day! about the shrimp trucks...friends, family and locals all said we have to eat there...just pass haleiwa there are several trucks in vacant lots...we went to the most crowded one...it was worth every dollar.

During the summer, you might see the river-rafters floating down the Truckee river. Hope you get the chance, someday, to ride the California Zephyr; do try to ride it both in the summer and in the winter.
