Lily - what a wonderful encounter with everyone. To see them all in their daily training routine and not competing must be a different experience. I'd like to see them all just practicing and going through their paces. I so admire how they do that day-after-day-after-day-after-day... I love how you said that Apolo was doing ice maintenance, pouring water and then sweeping it (hey, is that kinda like curling?? ) ...just doing his thing and helping out. 379 days...20 hours...36 minutes...19 seconds until 2010 (April posted the countdown clock at some point at the top of his website). www.apoloantonohno.com

Okay... (just checked in to our hotel in Beaver, Utah, after skiing all day.) I'll clarify as best I can, what went on last Saturday. All the skaters were given the day off (unexpectedly) on Friday afternoon. (Jeff and Jordan explained this all to us.) Then, ISU decided to have an impromptu drug-testing call. All the athletes were requested to show up on Saturday morning... at that time, only one person is chosen to be tested. That's the reason they (the athletes) showed up at different times... after being told they had the day off. But since everyone had to be there anyway, some of them jogged, others rode bikes, but noone was on the ice on Saturday morning. I'm sure some of them were a little disappointed to have their 'day-off' interrupted at the last minute. This worked out the best for Sam and me, as we were able to talk to the athletes on Saturday. We didn't initiate any conversation with the athletes on Monday, unless they came to speak to us.

Sam and I were a little surprised when Apolo started that... but we all know that is what he would do, pull his share! When Apolo came right up in front of us and waved, Sam had the gall to tell Apolo that he was doing a good job! Apolo just grinned and kept on sweeping!

I can just picture Sam saying that with a big grin - and Apolo grinning right back. So cute. I know you didn't take any pictures out of respect for the athletes (which is very cool of you), but I would have loved to see that moment in time. What a wonderful day you guys had!

Skaterswaltz...Yes, it was wonderful to be at the Oval. Who would've thought 2 years ago, that Sam and I would be so honored to have some of the athletes come up to us and have a personal conversation! Yes... the chats we had this weekend were of the personal nature, such as, their home lives. It was nice of them to share their lives with us!

Previously, I said that I didn't take any photos at the Oval. However, we do have *one* pic that Sam took with our non-SLR digital camera. We were sitting in the bleachers watching a martial arts tournament, to our left (out of the pic) ... and some of the skaters were jogging by! This was on Saturday morning, a non-training day. This is the one-and-only photo... by Sam! LOL Lily (we're off on another week's ski trip with family)
