Well, since the last post here is July 2007 and refers to a sighting in Colorado...I'll no a little Nationals 2007 Encounter for you. As I entered the Oval on the 2nd or 3rd day, I was heading up the stairs in the entry foyer of the Oval, he was coming down and low-fived my left hand. Actually, it was more like a hand "hug". Nice grin. I think he was glad to see the nice turn out for Nationals. And I might add he was always nicely turned out before, during, and after the races. Gasp, did we miss meeting you at Nationals? Or did I meet you and can't put two and two together and place the face to the call name? I certainly want to try and meet everyone from GA when the opportunity arises. I'm trying to go to SLC in February- how about you?

One SLC trip is all my heart can handle. LOL Petitioning NBC--the Olympic Network--to get off their duffs and give us some Worlds coverage...send your commentary to NBC Sports if you choose.

and that's a great idea about writing to NBC Sports (actually any sports media company) to ask about covering the world cup and worlds events in february and march.

Getting them off their duffs to bring ST/LT to the general viewing audience on a regular basis instead of just every four years would be a wonderful thing. I've made inquiries previously without success. I hope you get better results.

From past experience I know that you have to pound these peeps over the head with letters at the local and national level. Let's see the week of Nationals there were how many frigging football games on? The next week...how many figure skating events were on...I believe in fair and balanced reporting that includes speed skating.

I was fortunate enough to get an Apolo "hand hug" as well. That's such a perfect description! I didn't want to wash my hand ever again, LOL!

I agree..my mom has been a psycho figure skating fan for years..and there is television coverage of almost every event..they often have the same events on more than one channel!!!

Hi... Better late than never... here is my *brief encounter* with Apolo at SLC Nationals. I asked Apolo if he would autograph his bio/photo for our *Special Olympian* Grandson. Apolo was very gracious, asking what Grandson's name is and what sports did Grandson compete in, and he personalized it to "Brett"! Dumb me, I had packed my camera away so there isn't any photo of us together, except that my hubby took a *brief* footage with his video cam... and if you blink, you miss it... LOL! Yesterday, I was able to give Grandson a copy of *Muscle and Body*... and when he saw Apolo on the cover, his eyes just lit up!

Wow, Lily, I didn't know that happened! I look forward to meeting Brett someday. (I'm sure I will!) BTW, all of your posts about Special Olympics have stoked a fire that has existed in me for quite some time. It may be a few months yet before I'm able to DO something about it, but thank you for inspiring me to add SO to my plans...

Or was it Saturday... I think I was a little flustered and now I can't remember for sure which day it was... LOL! A lot of people had left already, maybe you had too with your 'roomies'. So maybe it was Saturday when you all went to Park City. I was one of the last fans that Apolo signed for, very near that hallway to the locker rooms. I do hope you get to meet Brett one day... he's now almost the same height as Sam. I'm going to post a few Floor Hockey (winter games) action photos at the "Where have you been" thread soon.
