Thank you soooooooo much! Unfortunately, even though I replayed it four times, it was still just a series of still photos with voices, but it was still fun to see. It seems to me Apolo has been working on his starts, because he's often the first one off the line, even if he doesn't take the first position (like in the longer races where he might hang back.) I still don't understand, skaterwaltz, how the rank on the splits can differ from a skater's actual position on the track. Why would Apolo be listed as third when he's first, etc? I'm also really glad C. Hamelin was there behind Apolo the whole way. Gave Song a North American block he'd have to pass, though I'm sure the guys didn't collude at all. It seemed to me Song wasn't quite keeping up with them throughout the race. I didn't even see an attempt to pass. But Apolo skated it tight, and denied his competitors! I also had to laugh at how excited the commentators seemed during the race, talking fast and high pitched. They seemed rather subdued after Apolo won.

Sorry for posting so much, but here is Lori's schedule (posted on page 2 of the original thread). Given that last night started an hour early, do you think tonight might as well? Here's hoping... since I'm on the east coast and with setting our clocks back tonight and church tomorrow, I won't be able to stay up late! ------------------ Based on the time difference, (17 hours Pacific; 14 hours Eastern), I converted the schedule ~ hope I got it all right! PROGRAM (all times to be determined unless otherwise indicated) Friday, March 7th, 2008 7:30PM (Pacific); 10:30PM (Eastern) 500 m Ladies and Men session 11:50PM (Pacific); 2:50AM Saturday (Eastern) Relay Men 5000 m semi-final Saturday, March 8th, 2008 5:20PM (Pacific); 8:20PM (Eastern)1000 m Ladies and Men session 10:30PM (Pacific); 1:30AM Sunday (Eastern) 3000 m Super Final Ladies and Men session 11:10PM (Pacific); 2:10AM Sunday (Eastern) Relay Ladies and Men Final AWARDS CEREMONY

With a gold under Apolo's belt, whatever happens tonight will be lagniappe! Our men and woman are doing the USA proud. In 2010 Korea is just going to have to "Deal with it"! Wouldn't it be a sight to behold to have Apolo skating with two teammates against one Korean? "The Perfect Race" would take on a whole new meaning. Best wishes tonight to Team USA and to our Canadian neighbors as well. No injuries, please!!!
AND, many thanks to such loving fans who stay up all night to pull for our team. Our flag is only a symbol of the love and support that comes from people like you. When one of our own is standing on the podium saluting our flag, it is YOU that is being saluted. I feel certain Apolo and his teammates are feeling your love all the way to S. K.
I will end with one simple prayer to a member of the team who has trained as hard as the men, represented the US twice in an Olympics, has endured illness and loss, and has been a supportive friend to Apolo for many years...has been there for him through all his triumphs....,but just keeps missing that golden ring....or medal I should say.

Yup! That entire post was beautiful, Guest! Linmiste, I'd say just keep checking - there's no way to be sure of the start time.

Wow!!...that pretty much sums up how your post made me feel, Guest! Thanks for stopping by to share that with us all! That would be the "perfect race" (LoL no "twin" skaters for Apolo!). And whoever this friend of Apolo's is, I wish him the best as well. GO TEAM USA tonight!!! Hope I can watch tonight with y'all!

I didn't even check if Canada made it. But lol that Russia and Great Britain did. Even they have to be going, "How in the world did that happen..."

canadianpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5h9S_qV9pnP2Obr0J-yi4t1HtZQ6AFrom the Canadian Press Canadians Hamelin, Roberge capture medals at world short-track championships13 hours ago GANGNEUNG CITY, South Korea — Charles Hamelin of Ste-Julie, Que., and Kalyna Roberge of Ste-Etienne-de-Lauzon, Que., won silver and bronze medals respectively, at the world short-track speedskating championships. American Apolo Anton Ohno won the men's 500-metre title with a time of 42.568 seconds. Hamelin was second in 42.625 while South Korean Kyung-Taek Song took third in 42.632. Canadian skaters had won this event at the past three worlds. "I had a great start and was right behind Apolo but I missed my opportunity to pass him early in the race during the slower laps," said Hamelin. ''He then increased his speed and I focused on keeping pace with him while protecting my second place position." Hamelin has been battling the flu this week and got off to rocky start Friday when he was disqualified in the first round in the 1,500-metre event. "I'm happy with my performance considering I wasn't in top shape," said Hamelin. "All my races were strong, I had good starts and led most of my races. "After (Friday), I was disappointed and I was determined that I would have a good day (Saturday)." Chinese skaters took the first two spots in the women's race. Meng Wang was first in 43.888 seconds, with compatriot Qiuhong Liu second in 43.973. Roberge was third in 44.018, the third straight year she has captured a medal in this event. "Kalyna was strong in every round today," said Yves Hamelin, Speed Skating Canada's short-track program director. ''In the final she was alone against three Chinese skaters and that was big challenge. "Kalyna had a great strategy to put herself on the podium and she was really happy with her performance."

I feel like BIll Murray in Groundhog day... I'm watching Koreans tap a maple tree for sugaring, and not understanding a thing they are saying. wwitv.com/tv_channels/7653.htm
