For those of you who would like one, I'm getting some embroidered patches made for The Rocker Fund to attach to the below jacket to wear at the events for those who would like to show their support of the skaters. If you would like to have a patch, please pm me. In the meantime, you can go to the below website and order a jacket in your size in the 'Sky' color. (It's actually more of a gray blue than the picture) I bought one, and it is just the most warm, cozy, unbelievably soft jacket that would be perfect for the oval. It is somewhat tailored, so it fits nicely too. These jackets have limited supplies, so if you want one, you should probably jump on it. Price- a whopping $29.95 Can't beat that! EDIT: I'm going to make them an iron on, but given the nap of the jacket is similar to chenille, I doubt it will iron on wellPlease plan on whip stitching the patch a tad to get it to stay put. ;Doooooo! ooooooo! ;D I got mine today! It's such a preeeeetty color, and it's so soft! It's blank on the front, except for the zipper and pockets - looks like it's just begging for a white patch! Just a thought - if you like things a little looser, or plan to wear several layers under it, you might want to go for one size larger than you'd normally wear in, say, a sweatshirt.

Just so we make it clear to everyone, you can have a patch and put it on whatever you choose. I'm not that anal about it! LOL It would be nice if you like the jacket and we looked like a united front, but it's more important that people notice the logo and ask about The Rocker Fund so that they go to the website, read up on the skaters and hopefully donate to one...or more. After all, this isn't about us, it's about getting some 'advertising' out there for the skaters.

I've gotten several comments on the jacket from Sierra trading post, and I need to make it clear to everyone it is no wear near as 'form fitting' as the picture indicates. It's the same as any fleece jacket you would buy. Lori is right though, if you wanted to put several layers under it, you might consider getting the next size up. For those of you going to Vancouver, we found this jacket from LL bean, much more versatile for dicey weather, but more expensive. I myself, being here in snow country, LIVE in this sort of thing, but for someone living in LA, it might be a bit overkill. We're going for the French blue Here's the link. www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?categoryId=42364&storeId=1&catalogId=1&langId=-1&parentCategory=504733&cat4=504728And once again, you don't have to wear either, they're just an option. You can put a TRF patch on anything you want.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to put my patch onto a blue fleece vest that I have.
I have so many blue fleeces and ski jackets that I'm going to use the vest... I'll layer that over my US speedskating black micro-fleece pullover that I purchased at the Oval.

Here is the 'proof' for The Rocker Fund patch. They had to split the type into two lines, as it was too small to embroider so they had to enlarge it. Obviously a 'fade out' is not feasible with thread, so the swooshes are in lighter colors to kind of create the effect. If you would like a patch, please pm me. My only request is that you donate to a Skater - or several. This months SOTM, Dan Fiorenza has gotten the short end of the stick, with OZ's comments being down so long. It's up to YOU my GA sista's to 'represent'. Every singe one of the skaters who have participated in The Rocker Fund, will be at American Cup 1 (except for Skylar, who pulled out of donations.) Wish them well!

i'm glad i checked out this site! i can't wait for my next paycheck! :hehe: but i was wondering if we could make out moneyorders? lol...i don't order checks! (my dad says i don't belive in them)...i think i'm going to need help with the mailing process too! (i want to donate to everyone! lulz) Padfoot, I don't see any reason why you can't use a money order - Mtnme, do you think this would work? As for 'I want to donate to everyone!' All I can say is 'YAY!' (Or 'I double-dog dare ya!) LOL!~ As for the mailing process, just check out the donation instructions below each skater's bio. If you have any questions, Mtnme or I will be happy to help. Jean- So glad you joined. Most of us here are relatively new ST fans, and whenever a skater or family member contributes it gives us a unique perspective that we appreciate more than you know! Thanks! I havent done any donation I didn't know school was going to be so expensive this year *and i'm in community college!* and school messed up my financial aid so i din't get that either...it's been awful...but hopefully by late october i'm doing awesome *or okay* with less expenses and I'm back on teh ball with the donations...I like the second patch...and that would so go on my backpack!

Well, we met many skaters this last weekend, the many of which said they would like to be included in The Rocker Fund, but hadn't gotten their information to us yet. I think for a lot of them, it's that bio page that hangs them up. Most of the skaters are pretty self effacing. They would rather have their teeth drilled than write about themselves. Not to mention they are all pretty busy. So I have a solution that would be fun for everyone. All of you here at GA have always come up with some thoughtful topics and interesting questions. So I put it out to all of you to come up with questions for a "You Ask the Skaters" that will be posted on The Rocker Fund as a template for them to go by. Heck, you can even pick out which skaters you would like to answer them if you like. (... and no picking Apolo ...been there, done that! LOL)That way you all will learn more about each of the skaters as individuals, and they don't have to bang their heads against the wall trying to think of what to say. THEY get to choose which questions they prefer to answer. Sound like a fun idea? I hope so, because I now have an empty page for skaters on TRF just begging for some info!

UPDATE........UPDATE........UPDATE.........UPDATE.........UPDATE.........UPDATE.........UPDATE.........UPDATE
I am happy to announce that all of you in the name of The Rocker Fund have donated $2400 to the skaters so far. ;D
We who attended American Cup 1 got to be on the receiving end of all of the skaters appreciation, and I just want you all to know how much these skaters and their families appreciate your generosity, and how much you have helped them with their expenses. Thank you for everyone who participated, and we hope that others will be motivated to join us in this pursuit, no matter how small the donation.
Many of you will be at the World Cups and hopefully will have a chance to meet some of the skaters on team USA. I'm sure you will be as endeared by the skaters as we are, and no matter what, you're going to have a blast- and that is a guarantee!

OK, I'm a disorganized dork...I admit it. I've been going through pm's looking for addi's for everyone who wanted a Rocker Fund patch sent to them, and so far, all I can find is sak755, skaterswaltz, and lilyover70. ( bad mtnme...no biscuit....) ...and to Debbief and Wildfire, I just KNOW you have sent me this info several times....what can I say, my pm box runneth over...I am now compiling a master GA address list so as not to have to make everyone continue to do this for the chronically organizationally challenged (ie- me). So please pm me again with your info.... For those of you attending either SLC or Vancouver, you might as well send your cell phone #'s too, so we'll have a way to get in touch with everyone at the events. I promise- this is the last time I'll have to ask you. I may just get a dedicated, hard-bound, written, address book just for GA (So in case the computer nukes itself, I won't have lost them yet again! ) My apologies ....

To get the creative juices flowing, Debbief has allowed me to post her questions...and I'll add a few of my own.
Step up guys, I've got skaters e-mailing me and they don't know what to write about themselves, so lets help 'em out.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Debbief's questions:Here are some questions that will be pretty easy for the skaters to answer: When did you start skating? How did you get interested in short track? How do you manage school, training & a social life? How many hours do you train per day? What other sports are you interested in? What are your hobbies? -------------------------------------- mtnme's questions:Have you traveled outside of the US for competitions, and if so, which where your favorite countries and why? What is the most exciting experience you have had doing short track? Do you hold down a job in addition to training, school, and social life? What would you like to do in the future after you are done with skating? What motivates or inspires you? What's your favorite thing to do when you're not skating or when you have some spare time? What are your goals for the next year? Where would you like to go that you have never been to? What's your favorite (pick one or all) movie - book - color - food _________________________________________________________________________________________________ OK, Your Turn!
