Well, I had a terrible time deciding whom to support. I went over the backgrounds and stories several times. I compared times and experiences. Thought about where they came from and what their future looks like. And I finally came to a decision.
To he[[ with it! I sent a check to all of 'em! I even caught Skylar and she's not even official yet.
But seriously....how do you decide weather to put more money into one or two hopefuls or dilute your donation between more participants? I'm assuming that as I become more familiar with the teams that I'll settle on a skater (or two). I guess until that time I'll just spread the love around.
What's your opinion?

i've thought of that too wags...at this time, since many of us are not that familiar with the up and comers, spreading the love as you graciously have is the way to go.
wouldn't it be great to support the junior level skaters at the following events: September 27-28 American Cup I - (World Cup #1-4 qualifier) Minneapolis, MN
November 14-16 U.S. Junior ST Speedskating Championships Bay City, MI
January 9-11 ISU World Junior ST Speedskating Championships (World Junior Championships qualifier) Sherbrooke, Canada

I know, Wags, it's a tough decision, which is part of how the idea of The Rocker Fund got started. With every skater we met, we wanted to support them all. But how could we do it by ourselves? So then we got the idea of getting the rest of the fans involved. With the power of many, we all can make a difference. But how everyone chooses to contribute is up to all of you. My decision? I always support whoever is skater of the month, every month. I just consider it like any other regular monthly obligation. While my donation alone won't make a big difference in any one skaters expenses, many fans contributing even a little, can. So don't feel like you're diluting, it adds up. Because of that, every skater has gotten at least enough money to actually make a difference, whether it be more ice time, replacing equipment or traveling expenses. So GOOD WORK everyone! Of course, I too, have my favorites, and my plan is to give a little extra whenever I can to those skaters, when I can. I'm calling it, 'adopt a skater'. LOL ...but everyone can do what works for you! And by the way, I changed the site today, added 2 more skaters, (well actually, one and a half- I still need the rest of Jon Sermeno's info) plus added some news and changed the about link to include all of you. (and if I left someone out accidentally, PLEASE let me know)

Hello, everyone. My name is Jade Wheeler. I was one of the skaters up on the RockerFund website. As you may know by now, I have decided to retire from the sport and am no longer on the website for that reason. I just wanted to thank all of you for all of your generousity. Even though I have decided to change directions, most of those skaters are my friends and I know just how much all your hard work means to them. Short Track has truly amazing fans and I'm glad I got to be a part of that. Thank you for everything.

Thank you so much, Jade. You are just the type of person we thought we would be representing at TRF. When you realized that you wouldn't be skating, you recused yourself from receiving donations, and it's that honesty and integrity (among many other fine qualities) that makes us remember why we care so much. Your biography was incredibly touching, and it's heartbreaking to have to say goodbye when we've only begun to know you, but I'm sure that a wonderful future awaits you.
EDIT: Come and join us now and then as we watch lap times or (if the gods smile on us) live feeds during the competitions this season - we have a LOT of fun, and your unique perspective would be so helpful as we continue to learn about ST!

Thanks Jade/skatingintherain for stopping by and posting your thoughts. We love hearing from the skaters, (although I was sad to hear you were retiring) I thoroughly enjoyed reading about you and how passionate you are about everything you take on, including the support of all the skaters that you are so obviously proud to call your friends. I wish you all the best and every success in all your future endeavors and we look forward to you stopping by GA whenever you can.

Hello -
I just want to thank everyone who has donated to the Rocker Fund. As a parent of a skater, I can truely say that every little bit helps. With the training, equipment and travel expense's many families need the donations and sponsorship's to help keep their skater on the ice. So, again Thanks. These skater's are the present and the future of short track. With the Olympics just around the corner, this season will be exciting.

All I can say is 'YAY!' (Or 'I double-dog dare ya!) LOL!~ As for the mailing process, just check out the donation instructions below each skater's bio. If you have any questions, Mtnme or I will be happy to help. Jean- So glad you joined. Most of us here are relatively new ST fans, and whenever a skater or family member contributes it gives us a unique perspective that we appreciate more than you know!

Hi Everyone, Theresa has made two very nice logos that I'm looking into getting embroidered as a patch so that they can be attached to jackets, shirts, hoodies- whatever. ...but I'm sooooo confused, - both are great, - so I'm putting it out there for a vote as to which one we should do. Votes please.... Option #1 Option #2

Hmmm.....I like both, but if I had to vote on only one, I'd have to say I'd prefer #2...simple yet gets the message across. My opinion...=)
