Are you kidding me??? I bet those blades can kill you. Like if a skater falls down on the ice and gets sliced in the neck, I bet those blades could slice a skater's throat right open. Let's not make fun of the blades

Well, that's true. I used to watch this program back in the 80's called 911 Rescue, and one story was about a hockey player who had his jugular sliced in a game. It was all caught on film, and kind of freaky. He was on the ice, on his knees and just bleeding everywhere on the ice. His buddies were so shocked and shakin, they couldn't help him. He lived, but I am sure it's a moment he would rather forget.

I read an article on speed skating (sorry, I don't remember where--it's been awhile) that said the short track skaters will do everything they can to not hurt another skater with their blades.
Even when they're falling all over the place, they do whatever they can to not cut each other.

Right I really wasn't talking about how careful they try to be.
Regardless of that, I was saying that I bet those blades can slice open somebody's throat.
No matter how "careful" somebody is, freak accidents can happen.

You know what freaks me out? What if they hit the board with their legs bent and slice their butt up crazy. Eek, I can totally picture it in my head!

A couple of years ago at Worlds a french skater fell forward in front of Rusty Smith. When he fell forward he brought his skate up and almost cut Rusty's nose off. Rusty had to have plastic surgery right away. It was a very scary.

That is true laura. It happend just after she switched from inlines. She fell and the skater behind her tried to jump over Allison. She had a cut down her face that required 70 stitches. You can see a slight scar when you are standing close to her. Those blades are so dangerous.

Wasn't it Bedard (maybe Flou) who did in fact slice his ass up after a fall and the whole rink got to witness his apparent preference for tighty-whities?

Ruffian, please change your pics of the Canadians. Bedard is giving me heart palpitataions, ( and, um, other palpitations, too). Who knew the ripples and curves that lurked under some of the worlds ugliest skinsuits. Aren't they lovely? (The Canadians, that is. Those skinsuits are an abomination, natch.) I love that series of pics (I notice you didn't include the hot one of Kalyna.) I do wonder what M. Turcotte was doing with jeans 6 inches too long on. Maybe, instead of rolling them up, he coulda just .... removed them?
