MT- Is that true about the slicing of the butt thing? Because that would seriously be one of my biggest fears if I were one of them. Hell, if an entire rink full of people saw my undergarments, why, I think I would just curl up in a ball and die right then and there (especially if what I was wearing was slightly embarassing, a la tighty whities). Of course, I'm all for the canadian boys flashing a little a**, provided they don't cut it off in the process.
And yes, clothes really should have been left out of this photoshoot. What purpose do they serve? First, they make them wear hideous skinsuits and then they hide their sculpted little bodies under layers and layers of clothing (jeans and sweatshirts?!? Why didn't they just put them in potato sacks and call it a day?)? Are they TRYING to tick me off?

You know what freaks me out? What if they hit the board with their legs bent and slice their butt up crazy. Eek, I can totally picture it in my head! Wasn't it Bedard (maybe Flou) who did in fact slice his ass up after a fall and the whole rink got to witness his apparent preference for tighty-whities? you've gotta be kidding me? it's so embarassing

Wow, this thread has gotten quite interesting! It went from talk of a party before the Kentucky Derby, the Kentucky Derby itself, and now the dangers of blades.
Hey, I know this is a bit off topic, but similar, and other horse enthusiasts would probably know what I am talking about. But in the world of show jumping, the horses will use shoes, and often have these screws, like an inch, sticking out of the bottom for traction for the horse on slippery footing. Well, this one famous rider, Margie Goldstein Engle, was riding her horse is a big jumping competition when the horse refused a jump, and caused her to fly over his head. But then, he all of a sudden jumped the fence, and landed with his spiked shoes, right on Margie's back and side. You are having a 1300lb horse coming down on you with rock hard hooves enclosed in sharp iron! Ouch! I've been stepped many times by horses and that hurts, but could never imagine the pain of that predicament.
To this day, she still has a brace on her ankle from the injury, which happened like 15 years ago.

As for the tighty whitey story. I didn't see it personally. I heard it second hand and can't remember which skater it was for sure. I have seen a pic of one of them (Bedard?) face down on the pads with a grimace on his face while some coach type person examines his tush. I'ld search for it, but, I have to at least pretend I have a life and take the kids out in a few minutes to try out our new inlines. If you don't hear from me again, assume I broke both arms and please send flowers. Dang, I forgot to sign in again. I AM an idiot.
