Great review Lexi! ;D I heard the Toronto concert was crazy! Awesome seats you had and how cool you got to meet Jeff and get David's autograph. I'm glad you had a great time! Can't wait to see your pics! I'm glad you agree about how gorgeous Michael is! Strange about DC's attitude, I've read some negative reviews about him when it comes to meeting fans. Maybe he's moody.
Looking forward to hearing David's new single!

Hey, Lexi, Just wanted to say thank you for writing your review. I love to read these; it's my way of sharing the experience vicariously. Sigh. It seems like David A. is great at interacting with fans and I've read reports of other times that he started at the opposite end of the line, which is very smart and kind of him. [Sidenote: I wonder why he never wears shorts? I could totally see him in Old Navy.] I'm eagerly awaiting the release of his CD. Since I don't have an iPod, his single won't do me much good, except that I'm sure it will appear on youtube and I can play it endlessly when I'm on the computer. My friend and I can't afford tickets to the show... but do you think it's worth going to the venue (45 minutes away in Worcester, MA) when the buses arrive in hopes of seeing David A. (and, for my friend, Michael)? As for Cook, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say his "angry" disposition may be the length of the tour combined with a serious side of his personality. I can imagine that he feels frustrated with not being able to work on his album, when that's where his heart is. Instead, he's playing the same five songs six days a week for nearly three months. Must be frustrating. But he has to keep the bigger picture in mind: the fans gained or even maintained during this tour obligation are crucial to his future success. I feel a little badly for the other Idols, b/c they all have unique gifts, just very out-staged by the Davids. With those two due to release albums in early November, what producer is going to risk a negative return on other Idols who might be forgotten by then? I am a little concerned about the release of Davids' albums: I hope it doesn't become a competition again, with fans declaring a new American Idol based on these album or single sales. They each have a unique niche. Okay, enough rambling. Have a great day everyone!

Hey gang, this is for David Archuleta fans! The following article was printed in the LDS magazine; it's a great testament to the lovely person, who has become part of our lives... at least for some of us!
(Another article to follow after this post.)
Janet Thomas, “Just David,” NewEra, Aug 2008, 46
David Archuleta, a 17-year-old from Murray, Utah, a town centered in the Salt Lake Valley, made it as one of the top two on American Idol, a television singing competition.
In one interview given while in the middle of the competition, David was wondering about the changes that were coming with the fame of performing for millions of viewers each week. He said that he still felt like “I’m just David from Murray.”
The nation may have been surprised to hear such a pure, clear voice coming from one so young, but David’s classmates at school, and especially those in seminary, were not surprised at all. They already knew he had an amazing voice because they get to hear him sing at school programs and for seminary devotionals.
“Every time it’s his turn to do the class devotional,” says Brother Justin Harper of the Murray High Seminary, “he asks if he can sing. Then the other teachers will bring their classes in just for devotional to hear him. It really sets a wonderful spirit for class.” Even while busy and involved with the television show, Brother Harper said David reported on his daily scripture reading to keep up with his seminary class.
Mietra Aarabi, one of David’s close friends, says that David did not enter the competition to become a celebrity. She says, “David understands that he has a talent and that his voice affects people. He’s not arrogant about it. He is as humble and thankful to those who help him as you saw on the show. That’s how he really is.”
Was David the popular guy in school? Jessica Judd, another of David’s friends says, “If by popular you mean people like him, then yes, everyone likes him. At lunch, you know how everyone has their own group to sit with. You can never find David because he’s going around talking to people. He cares about you.”
The Church is a major force in David’s life. “He is so strong,” says Mietra. “He is the one that reminds us of what is right. He will keep on doing what he believes.”
“Even while he was so busy in Hollywood, he asked about the meeting schedules of wards in the area and went to church,” says Jessica.
David Archuleta is not just David from Murray anymore. The music world now knows about a great guy with an amazing voice that has a quality they can’t quite describe. Those at home in his ward, in his seminary class, and his hometown know what that is. What he believes shows.
“To have been given this opportunity and to be able to share music with people is just the best feeling ever.” David Archuleta
Fellow contestant and Church member Brooke White came in fifth in the competition.

Topic: David in People en Espanol David's in the new issue of People en Espanol.. PAGE ONE: DAVID ARCHULETA AT THE SUMMIT Boosted by his acclaimed interpretations in the TV show American Idol, the young singer of Honduran origin is pursuing his dream of connecting with whomever wants to listen By Isis Sauceda : PROUD “It feels good when people appreciate what you do,” says David Archuleta (in Los Angeles in June). The Archuleta family went several months without joining together for dinner as they used to at his Murray, Utah home. Well, it was not easy. With two of its members, Jeff, the father, and David, the second of five children, more than 600 miles away in Los Angeles, living together was impossible. But the sacrifice was worth it. After all, in the first months of this year David Archuleta fulfilled one of his most cherished dreams of singing week after week on national television as one of the favorites of the popular program American Idol. “I always imagined a scenario,” says David Archuleta, 17. Adds his mother, the Honduran Lupe Archuleta, 42: “I always had the children sing at family reunions, but clearly David was the one who stood out the most.” That is exactly what he did in the televised singing contest. And while his son did not become this year’s American Idol in the finals of the show in May - he finished in . . . PAGE TWO: . . . second place behind David Cook — he did become the first Latino to succeed, and his participation there has opened the doors to a promising career. This summer, Archuleta not only will participate in the American Idols Live! Tour 2008, but will also begin working on his first album as a solo artist. “This show was not easy for him, he just made it look easy,” says Michael Orland, pianist and musical director for American Idol, about Archuleta, who will graduate from high school next year. “He came as a genius and left as a genius. All the participants aspired to reach his level.”Despite all the applause and millions of votes he received from viewers, Archuleta still seems incredulous in the face of such praise. “I thought that nobody liked to hear me sing,” says the now uninhibited performer who grew up listening to Celia Cruz, Gloria Estefan and Selena thanks to his mom, who is also a fan of Thalia and who as a young woman lived in Miami and sang in the singing group The Sisters Mayorga. “I was always embarrassed.” However, he pretended to sing before a vast audience in the patio of his Utah home while his parents watched. At 10 years old, Archuleta had already made his television debut, and at 12 he won the talent contest Star Search in the youth division. Now, the boy who has traveled to Honduras to sing at a charity would also like to pay tribute to his Latino roots by perfecting the language of Cervantes, which he only speaks with his maternal grandmother, “because she knows my faults ,” says Archuleta, who when not in front of a microphone is listening to music on his iPod. (Among his favorite singers: Stevie Wonder, Celine Dion and Michael Jackson.) His own career as a singer was in danger when it had barely started. A year and a half ago, Archuleta received medical treatment for vocal chord paralysis. “The doctor told us: ‘There is someone up there who wants him to sing, because medically he should not be able to sing,’” recalls his father, an American jazz musician of 47 years. After therapy, the youth began to sing again despite the initial difficulties to speak and even breathe. At this time, however, no one can stop him. “I feel a connection when I hear other people sing; if I achieve that also, it makes me feel really good,” said Archuleta. “Hopefully I’ll be able to make many albums. I would love to make music in Spanish. Luis Miguel would be awesome.” : “David is a good boy. He has always been sweet, caring, respectful and obedient,” says the singer’s mother, Lupe Archuleta. “He has always been very nice.” “The doctor told us: ‘There is someone up there who wants him to sing, because medically he should not be able to sing,’” –Jeff Archuleta

You can see what a really great guy he is.

Great review Lexi, I really enjoyed it. It will be fun to watch these careers unfold. Do you think Michael Johns has a career ahead? I hope its ok for me to answer. As you may know that I love Michael and so I say YES that I think he will have a good career. He's very friendly and appreciative to his fans and takes time with them as much as he can. I've been following the tour and have read a lot of reviews on his performances and meeting fans and everyone loves him. And of course he's not bad to look at so I don't think he'll have any problems with AI fans liking his music. The only question I have is will the rest of America who are not AI fans accept him?

Good Early Morning!
Woo-hoo!... I set 2 alarm clocks to get up at 4:30 AM. I just finished listening to David Archuleta's new song, "Crush" on Z100 radio... what an amazing feeling, hearing it for the first time... it's fantastic, with a mid-tempo beat! I'm listening to David talking (at the radio station) right now! ... back to listening...

Lexi, I loved reading your concert review. I'm glad you had such an amazing time. It's so great that you got to meet Jeff and David A. And I'm glad to hear that the whole audience liked Micheal's performance. I still think he had the best voice this season. I like David Cook but I wonder what's up with his rude behavior. That just doesn't sound like him. I haven't visited his fansite lately so I have no idea what's going on. Maybe he's exhausted, or worrying about his brother, or missing his girlfriend?? I hope he gets back to his sweet self before he turns off a lot of fans.

You all know (by now) that I'm a big fan and supporter of David A., but I've been interested in Cookie too! In fact, I intend to buy his new CD too. So I'm bothered by some of the things I've been seeing and reading online about Cookie. Furthermore, I'm not crazy about his new stage persona, the 'guy-liner' harsh look! I hope that the 'powers that be' aren't trying to mold him into something that he really isn't, just to sell a 'Rock Star' image! All you Michael fans... I like MJ just as much Cookie... I love his sense of humor! But I don't think he's the singer that Cookie is. I love Jason for being himself... very unique!

What a big day for Archie... I was listening to his radio interviews here and he handled it all so well. Z100 is syndicated so David's song was heard in many large metro areas. The response has been amazing. His song is in rotation and is already at no. 4 in NYC. The best version of it was on the Utah station (there is a link to it on david archuleta fanblast site) and it is less "processed" so it sounds more like the pure David sound. The whole group went down to Wall St Fri afternoon and rang the closing bell at NASDAQ. Then it was onto the buses to head down to Atlantic City (about 4 hrs) to do tonite's show. Tomorrow Cook and david fly to LA to do the Teen Choice show and then quickly back for shows on Long Island Monday. Whew. The last few vids of Cook show him to look tired to me.. I hope he's taking care of himself. Archie seems to thrive on it all.. there is not one person he hasn't greeted, signed for or thanked. It's only the beginning.

I really hope David Cook doesn't change his image just to fit some rock star stereotype. I loved the sweet, sincere, humble Cookie that we saw on AI. I hope he realizes that he doesn't have to change his behavior in order to sing his type of music. He can be a rock star and still be the same sweet guy that he is. Not all rock stars are rude and arrogant. And I also don't like the guyliner on him.
