ok, I have a serious problem...........................................................I am completely addicted to the Twilight books by Stephanie Meyer.
I am super fvcked. I cant seem to put the bloody book down. Just a week and a half ago, I went in a book shop and saw the book. I had heard all the buzz around the book and also about the film version of it. So I though, now that J.K. Rowlin broke my heart (again) when the last Harry Potter book was written and published, perhaps I should give this book a go and read wot the hellz is all this babbling. I read the first chapter and thought "well...this doesn't seem that interesting enough to have a film about. So I put it down and continued living. The next day I though, Ok...let me read on to see of anything with more interest comes up. Holy fvck in the sky!!! the bloody book is killing me extremely softly. I read it in less than 3 days and that was because I had to get up and do stupid and insignificant things, compared to reading the book, such as going to the loo, eating, working. Then, I went into reading the second book and even though the content of the book was hurting me because I was able to relate with the character because I was there once too, I couldn't put it down. It was as if I was waiting for him to appear. Those who have read the book could understand wot I mean. But, after I found out that there's only 4 book in the series. I stopped at number two. I'm scared to read them all in one go. wot will i read then? Harry Potter is finished and I would be left alone again. So.........I started reading the first book for the second time. oh sh!t.........am doomed.

I have become completely addicted to this series of books by author George R.R. Martin called "A Song of Ice and Fire." So far, it's 4 books and all of us fans are insanely awaiting book 5 of the series. In all, it's supposed to be 7 books. What can I say about these books? That I like them just as well if not BETTER than I did the Lord of the Rings and I LOVED those books! The song of Ice and Fire series is based somewhat on the British Isles War of the Roses, but it's in a fictional land named Westeros and it has elements of Medievel life such as armor, kings, queens, battles, etc. as well as fantasy elements such as dragons, giants, sorcerer (esses), magic, you name it. There's sex, adultery, incest, betrayal, battles, scheming, wining, dining, serious plot twists. And another thing that really gets you seriously involved in it; each chapter is told my a certain characters point of view. And it's different each chapter. It follows what I can tell by so far at least 3 years period of time. The books were so good, I read through them really fast ( and no, they are not short books, I think the longest is like more than 700 pages ), but Martin's writing is so absorbing that you just don't want to put them down. I found myself reading morning, noon and night, whenever I had a free period of time, I had my nose in these books. Book 1 is "A Game of Thrones", book 2 is "A Clash of Kings", book 3 is "A Storm of Swords" and book 4 is "A Feast For Crows." The up and coming book 5 is to be called "A Dance With Dragons." I'm thinking of buying some of these little figurines a few companies have made from the characters in the books and I am going to buy the calendar based on the books available at amazon.com. Hell, I even friended George on my Live Journal. I want to keep on top of ANY updates he can give us fans of WHEN that next book is coming out. We all are just chomping at the bit for it! LOL! Yep, they're THAT good. I know, I am a serious book geek. I think I've read more books this entire year than I've read in the last 5. And they all were pretty d**ned good books, too.

I've heard those are good. I may have to pick that up sometime in the near future. As I said, since January of this year, I have just gotten on a book reading kick that I'm glad has happened. I used to be an avid reader for most of my life. Then, getting married and having a child, I mostly focused on being a good mom to my daughter and taking her to the library and reading kids books to her, etc. Now, at 11 years-old, she's a book person, too, and smart, as well, I'm proud to say. She just got her first report card from her first term at school ( 5th grade ) and she got all A's except for one B+. Not bad. I'd like to think that somehow, with the love of reading and learning I raised her in, that I had a hand in that. But I digress...once she got old enough to read to herself, she got me back into reading stuff that was not really so "childish", like the Harry Potter series ( which I just LOVE, along with the movies ) But, I also got her into a few "kid friendly" series books, too, like C.S. Lewis' "Chronicles of Narnia", Susan Cooper's "The Dark is Rising" series and Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy. I guess what I will do next is put up a "book recommendation" of all the books I've read this year and then, leave it to all of you to go and scope them out to see what they are all about. If I did that in here, It'd go on forever... 1. His Dark Materials trilogy-since it's a trilogy, it's three books: A. The Golden Compass ( also known as "Northern Lights" in some areas) the movie was "crap" compared to this book, big disappointment. B. The Subtle KnifeC. The Amber Spyglass2. The Dark is Rising Series-this is five books and again, the movie of "The Dark is Rising" was just totally AWFUL! A. The Dark is RisingB. GreenwitchC. Over Sea, Under StoneD. Silver on the TreeE. The Grey King3. The Chronicles of Narnia-this is 7 sort of short books A. The Magician's NephewB. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe ( movie ) C. Prince Caspian ( movie ) D. Voyage of the Dawn Treader ( the next to be made into a movie ) E. The Horse and His BoyF. The Last BattleAn adult reading list: C.S. Lewis adult trilogy: Space Trilogy-this is 3 books, obviously A. Out of the Silent PlanetB. PerelandiaC. That Hideous StrengthSingle books: 1. The Time Traveler's Wife-by Audrey Niffenegger 2. The Memory Keeper's Daugther-by Kim Edwards 3. The Kite Runner-by Khalid Hosseini 4. The Lovely Bones-by Alice Seabold ( Peter Jackson of the LOTR movie fame is doing a movie of this. Should be out next year ) 5. Duma Key-by Stephen King Next on my reading list: The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman ANDThe Brief and Wonderous Life of Oscar Wao-by Junot Diaz ( this book won the Pulitzer prize for Fiction this year ) So you see, I have been a HUGE bookworm this year. I read all of the above books AND that George R.R. Martin "Song of Ice and Fire" series. What can I say? I've been wracked with bad health issues this year and I do spend some time doing "real life" stuff and the computer but I can always find time for a good read. I hope I helped some of you out with some good recommendations. I love to hear how others feel about the books I've read and have come to love.

I just got done reading Sherrilyn Kenyon's book called One Silent Night. (I read it before I ordered the book Acheron...so I know one or two things that happened, just not the detail. Oh well, I've been wanting to read Ash's story for ages, finally his book is here) Now I am reading an Eloisa James book.

I finished reading Duma Key (LOVED it!), and for a while my reading life was kind of in limbo. I started reading Twilight, don't really get what the fuss is all about, and at the same time I'm absolutely -devouring- the Da Vinci Code.

Stephen King's collection of short stories called "Just After Sunset." The man is a genius, plain and simple. "The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao" by Junot Diaz, I just could not get into no matter how hard I tried and let's face it, if something is not enjoyable for you to read, WHY keep doing it, right? It was like something I "had" to read in college that I didn't want to, yeah, it was THAT painful. I'd not recommend it. How it won a Pulizter last year, I'll never know.

Debbie Macomber, "Twenty Wishes," "China Witness: Voices from a Silent Generation" by Xinran (yep, that's for the history class.), aaand also, partially for the sake of random re-reading, "A Journey."
