Kentucky Derby winner, Barbaro, broke down earlier in the race for his bid to win the triple crown, (which now, has officially have not been won in 28 years) He sustained two fractures in his ankle, from the hind leg. He was led off of the track, but prognosis does not look good. The vets will do all they can to repair the injury, and save the gallant horse for breeding, but again, these types of injuries are delicate matters, and do not have happy outcomes. Please have the great horse in your prayers to recover from this most unfortunate event!

It's so cruel how they just throw horses away sometimes. I understand that the injury may not ever heal properly (horses won't stay off their feet, even if injured you know) but he's still good for breeding. His pedigree is good isn't it? I hope they spare him.

So do I, but it was horrible. I wonder if Apolo know's this. A fellow athlete he just watched in person gallop across th finish line two weeks ago, is now having his life hang in the balance. It's sad.

Do you know when they'll make a decision on whether to spare him or not? All I know is riding, not the veterinary side of horses. Are they worried about blood clots, etc.? Or just the boy refusing to stay off the broken ankle?
Sorry, pushy questions. I know that you understand horses.

Did Apolo actually go to the Derby??? Or did he just go to the parties like most of the celebrities.
He might not had seen him. But I saw him fall on the news, it's also sad to see them fall like that...

This is sooo weird. An Apolo website, and I'm caring more about a horse. Strange.
Carry on ladies.

I don't think Apolo went to the race Crim, just the fancy party with the high price tag. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I am. I got the feeling that he at least betted on a horse. But the race can't be seen from inside a bar/dance club can it? Who really knows the answer to that one? NOT ME! I, myself, don't gamble, so wouldn't know how the whole thing would have been handled. Sorry.

Or just the boy refusing to stay off the broken ankle? Sorry, pushy questions. I know that you understand horses. I think they already made the decision to try. Now it's up to good vets and the horse to have the strength to pull through. But hey, someone go on Apolo's board and ask how he feels about his fellow athlete getting hurt. Is is too evasive of a question?

His answer will prove whether or not he respects ALL life equally won't it Warhorse? I'm kind of nervous about his reaction.

Is it stupid to ask him? I mean, there seems to be an alarming amount of horse lovers that love Apolo. Maybe there is a secret connection among us. Maybe he likes horses too, just there was never any word on it. And I said once before, Colorado, where he trains, is stock loaded with some of the best horses in the counrty, and some of the best riding trails. It would be a d*amned shame that he never took advantage of it.

I don't think he had the time to learn to love horses in Colorado Warhorse. Maybe admire them, but actually "know' them?
He trained 6 days a week, 8 to 10 hours a day, with Sundays off. Go riding? I'm a horse lover, and I wouldn't go riding after THAT. I'd sit on my butt and relax. Don't matter how much that appy means to me, I'M TIRED! Know what I mean? He may have ridden, but I don't think It was alot. So bad for him. It's too much of a good time.

Hmmmm. I work 9 hours a day, and still have time to ride when I get home. And Sundays, my day fo rest, I spend with my horse all day long, bathing him, picking up his food and what not.
And yoy dont need to be in Colorado to learn to love horses. I started to love horses out of the blue, and it stuck forever. I went for three years befor I got on my first horse. It's something that is just there, you never really learn to love anything, it comes natural. And I'm just saying that because there are lots of horse people here, there might be some spiritual connection with Apolo and horses. He is after all, a private man, stuff that he treasures, he may not disclose to the public at hand. And on the back of a horse would be the perfect place for Apolo to escape. Who'd ever thought to look there!
