Your work is beautiful, Mtnme, but this kitchen in particular got my attention. GORGEOUS! I love the flooring, the tiles, the sink and stove, the colors. Wow! Did Amy give you a lot of free reign?

Thank you number1 and lexi, I appreciate the compliments. Actually, I didn't need a lot of free reign with Amy, She knew exactly what she wanted as far as colors and materials. It was my job to come up with a workable layout-(this one wasn't optimum), pull her ideas together and to work out all the finishing details (tile patterns, color breakdown, lighting, etc- I even did all the faux painting on the walls (another story-I ended up fauxing a two story stairway- and I hate heights!) That stove was the bain of my existance! there was literaly no full walls to put it on as there were either windows or only half walls everywhere. I had to create the angle wall to get it in at all. From a cooks perspective, I would have prefered more space between the sink and range if I could have done it. Like I said, Amy is not afraid of color-so that aspect of my job was easy!

Beautiful work, mtnme! Would love to see more. Darn, I was so distracted by the Emmys tonight that I forgot about the Design Star finale! I'll need to look for the rerun schedule. I'm not sure if anyone else likes So You Think You Can Dance, but this blog features an Access Hollywood video of rehearsal for the upcoming tour, and Lauren "outs" dating couple Hok & Lacey. my-ox-is-broken.blogspot.com/2007/09/ox-notes-september-14-2007.html

;D Last night on Design Stars ... Kim (Kym) won ... yeah. I felt badly for Todd but that's the way it goes. I'm sure he'll get some kind of great job out of this. All that exposure he got. Mtnme ... you must sign up for the new show and WIN. Just give it a shot ... what do you have to lose?

Lots of old clips and the ones of Robb were hysterical because he had such an attitude and didn't know it ... it was funny. I think they'll show it in rerun. I'll let you know if I see it on again.

A question about the stove... is it one of those with computerized controls on the top segment? My neighbor has one and said it was made it Canada... very pricey!

Wow Lily. I had no idea they'd managed to reach that far away! I'm so glad you enjoyed them. I do too, though they're very high end so it's often hard to relate to them. They've since had two 'spin off' shows: Design Rivals (pitting Steven against Chris) and So Chic (where they got more into the clothing side of 'style'). Lexi, I see on TVguide.com that Design Rivals is on currently, but we don't get it here, with our service... rats!

Steven and Chris play off of each other really well. I won't tell you any more as it will just make you more disappointed you don't get it.

Yes lily, it has the controls and fan in the top. I think the company is Heartland. Expensive- but not like a thermador. (of course if you really want to live large- you can get a le Cornue. Comes on a slow boat from france, all hand made- starts around $30,000. It isn't a range at that point- it's ART!) The rest of you: There was a design star marathon on Sat. - so got to see what you all were all talking about. I'm glad Kim won, she was the best designer by far. As for me trying out- maybe in the spring- I've got WAY too many projects going at the moment! (...and I wonder why I never have any fun until after Christmas???!!!)

Mtnme: I suspected that was your work - awesome!!! SURVIVOR starts again on Thursday!!! I sent a kick-a$$ application in one time at the urging of my friends, but I couldn't think of a good enough idea for the required audition video. And I don't have a bunch of tatoos and piercings (which always seems to impress them). In retrospect, 'Thank God' - that show does nothing for your reputation - but I still have a perverse glee in watching other people's demise, as long as it isn't me... EDIT: Will somebody please be a sweetie and let me know when the Amazing Race starts again, in case I miss it??? That's absolutely my FAVORITE show... As far as old shows, give me Northern Exposure...I wanna live in Cicely and have dinner at the Brick - preferably with Chris (John Corbett)...once upon a time when my husband was coaching in Washington I took a drive and came within 30 minutes of Roslyn (the mythical Cicely), but I ran out of time and had to either turn around or miss Mr. Girl's baseball game. NoNoNoNo....D***!

Mtnme: I suspected that was your work - awesome!!! SURVIVOR starts again on Thursday!!! I sent a kick-a$$ application in one time at the urging of my friends, but my video of a black leopard with my fist in its mouth didn't impress them...maybe because the leopard was old and toothless and I wasn't half-naked at the time. (In retrospect, 'Thank God' - that show does nothing for your reputation - but I still have a perverse glee in watching other people's demise, as long as it isn't me...) NoNoNoNo....D***! Yeah Lori, my initial response for these shows is that I may be too Normal to make it past the auditions! I wouldn't want to become just one more player in yet one more "freak show" (Kim at least had it together...) As for John Corbett- I'll TAKE him! anytime, anywhere!! On visiting "Cicely": There is something so intriguing about visiting a place that has been on film or TV. I've been to Old Deerfield in western Massachusetts where they filmed a lot of the exteriors for the most recent version of Little Women. That movie gives me the "warm fuzzies" and watching it has become one of my Christmas rituals. You sit there and say "I was on that street!" or "We went into that house!". For those of you unfamiliar with Old Deerfield - (and especially if you're into colonial history or architecture) It's a partial historic park- people still live there, but a lot of the vintage homes have been restored and they do tours. It's a beautiful area (especially in the fall) with Great Museums that focus on the colonial period...sigh...I want to go back... I need a vacation.... Lori- hope you make it to "Cicely" someday....

Old Deerfield seems like a really interesting town - I love places like that. Angelina, I'm a Lostie, too. I played catch-up just before Season 3 started, watching marathons of Season 1 & 2. You said they film it around your town. That's cool. Aren't the beach scenes off Kaena Point? We used to hike there, and it looked familiar. There are film crews nearly every day in our town or at our high school. I don't know how the students deal with it, but it's fun to see our little 'Mayberry' pop up on TV and in the movies when you least expect it.

They have filmed a few scenes right in downtown though. It's fun to identify the settings. Once they used a coffee shop in the courtyard of my office building, which was cool (The scene where Abbie gives Desmond her husband's boat). Another show filmed here is Dog the Bounty Hunter. I pass by his office every day, and usually there are people taking pictures of it.
