I also love Candice Olsen's show, Divine Design. She is such a doll ... and a genius. Angelina - I didn't even realize you would get Divine Design where you are. Isn't Candice the bomb? Are you familiar with Sarah Richardson - another Canadian? Her show "Design Inc." is my favorite of the decorating shows. www.designinc.ca/home/The amazing thing about Sarah is that she has she has no interior design education. She graduated with a BA in Visual Arts in Toronto and then started working as a set designer in television. A friend who also worked in TV asked if she wanted to host a television show and that started her career. The Designer Guys are quite good too to say nothing of being eye candy! design.designerguys.com/dg/theguys/theguys.php Lexi, these shows look great. I'll have to check and see if we get them here on the east coast. I love these types of shows. Do you get Colorsplash? David Bromstad is a doll and yes Candice is a bomb. Love her. I wish she could come over my house for dinner. Oh and David too, of course.

butterfly, I went WHOA as well! Blew me away! I'm also a huge HGTV junkie. Right now I like Colorsplash, David Bromstad's show. He was last season's "Design Star." I also love Candice Olsen's show, Divine Design. She is such a doll ... and a genius. I'm eagerly awaiting the next Project Runway as well. angelina, I'm a huge HGTV junkie too. Colorsplash with David Bromstad, what can I say ... YYUUMM ... he's soooo cute and talented and seems soooo sweet. Right he was last years Design Star to get his own show. Last night was the final show for the new stars ... I think I'm going with Kim for the win. How about you? Divine Design with Candice Olsen is fabulous. She is brilliant and like you said a doll and a genius. My husband says she is the best designer on tv. He loves her show. I wish she could come an decorate my home for me. We're having a house completely gutted an renovated to live in and I sure could use her help. Getting back to David Bromstad ... if I could have two pictures on my wall besides my husband, of course, it would be Apolo and David. Girls if you haven't seen him you have to check him out. I have to learn how to put pictures on here so I can share him. I'm really not suppose to be online and doing any typing. I had totally stopped a month ago, doctors orders, I had deleted my account, lost all my Post Cout and Karma but I had to stop. But then I thought maybe I can just read a little. Then I just recently started in little dribs and drabs. But I could not hold myself back when I saw that you like Color Splash with David and Divine Design with Candice Olsen. We have something else in common. Cool. Can a professional designer weigh in??? We are just as addicted to the HGTV shows, though some certainly make us raise an eyebrow. They do things a "non TV" designer could never get away with... ( "What do you MEAN you just painted my great grandmothers heirloom Chippendale dining set -worth beaucoup dinero (sp)- white? !!!! Are you insane I'm calling my lawyer!!!....") For good common sense design on a budget- Designed to Sell always does a great job! Rule #1, get rid of the clutter! Less IS more. David is great too. (But he needs to stay out of the kitchen) Color is the cheapest, easiest way to change a rooms charachter. Remember what I said in another thread about that "beige" thing.... Then there are shows that do things that look great on camera, but would never function on a day to day basis. ( yeah, so you PAINTED your sofa...looks good on camera...but you're gonna have flaked paint all over your a$$ if you dare sit on it....) And then there are the terrifying: (TV show designer:"Yeah, we'll just take this wall out, open up the space- it'll be easy and cheap!") (Professional Designer: "AAAGGHHH!!!, That's a load bearing wall!!!! It's holding up your ROOF!!!! And you took it OUT!!!!! RUN!!!!! SAVE YOURSELVES!!!!!) I may regret saying this, but should we start a thread called "Ask the design lady?"

tippytappytoes, I'm glad you're better and I hope you will continue to feel better.
mtnme, I didn't know you are a professional designer. Awesome! I like Designed to Sell, too.
I just watched the Design Star finals, and wow, Kim is so clearly the winner in my book. Not only was her design superior, but her hosting skills are as well. Todd's designing and hosting kinda give me a headache. I've put in a pitiful 2 internet votes for Kim. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for her.

I agree with a lot of what you said. Some of the things they do definitely don't fly and are structuraly unsound. What I mostly like about David is that he is so gosh darned cute and very likeable but now Candice is a good designer. She is in a league of her own kind a like Apolo. You know what I mean. She's not a flim flam designer. She's sound. My husband and I sit there a see a lot of stuff that we go yuuuck to that; it isn't even close to nice. I know there's different strokes for different folks. It might not be my style or taste but if it looks nice I'll be fair and say that turned out nice. Might not be my cup of tea but to each his own as far as taste. But paint on a sofa ... that's a nada. Your a designer .... that's cool mtnme. Try out for the show Design Star.

She's the better hostess. I think the deadline is at noon today? I think that announce it tonight too ... not sure though. Modification made here: The announcement show is Sunday night on HGTV at 9:00 p.m. est ( I think )

Lexi, yes, we get the whole gamut of HGTV shows. I think I've seen a couple of episodes of Design Inc. but I'll be on the lookout for more. I love Sarah, but her 'sidekick' Tommy makes the show. He's got the best lines. Lexi, these shows look great. I'll have to check and see if we get them here on the east coast. I love these types of shows. Do you get Colorsplash? David Bromstad is a doll and yes Candice is a bomb. Love her. I wish she could come over my house for dinner. Oh and David too, of course. Hi Tippy - Sorry to say I don't think Colorsplash is available in Canada. I'm disappointed because a few of you have mentioned it and it seems like an awesome show. I need to have some discs fused in my neck and I've been suffering with a migraine since Aug. 7th. They put me on a new medication ... Amerge ... and this morning thank God, I woke up and my head is feeling better so let's hope and pray and cross our that it has passed. Yikes!! This sounds awful. I hope you're feeling much better soon. Has Amerge been making a difference? Are you guys familiar with Eric Villency? Now this guy needs his own show instead of popping up on other people's shows. When he's on the screen, I'm a drooling mess! I may regret saying this, but should we start a thread called "Ask the design lady?" What a great idea - though I think you'll regret having made the offer since you know I've already PM'd you a few times with my design ideas/questions. I'm with Tippy - you NEED to try out for the Design Star show. We'd all be cheering you on!

I'll have to check it out.... Do I get an "Extreme Makeover" before I try to audition?

That's incredible...way to go! I know that was insane! I wonder what he did different than the other contestants because it just seems impossible for anyone to lose that much weight in one week. I loved Bob's reaction! I also thought it was pretty cool he also was the first to reach the trainers when they ran that mile. Pretty good for a 62 yr old man! I'm looking forward to see what happens with the black team next week.

Lexi, I'm not familiar with Eric (but I think I should start getting familiar). What shows is he on? He's a former Calvin Klein model and heir to the Villency fortune. Plus he's well educated and not riding on his family's coattails. Hard to beat that. He's appeared in a few of the HGTV show "Small Space, Big Style". Here's a bit about him: (CUT AND PASTE ALL OF LINK IN BROWSER)www.homeandgardentv.com/hgtv/decorating/article/0,1793,HGTV_3545_1454567,00.html www.one2onemag.com/main.php?do=usermenu&action=home&menu_id=4ac7f70ed17f220f62b7b45dbdd9bba0&story_id=dc49ef7d520bf8454fe603957a266ddeDo I get an "Extreme Makeover" before I try to audition? I doubt very much you'll need that. People in your business are all about style and often set the standard!

Thanks for the info, lexi. I hope he at least continues to pop up on a few shows ...
I forgot to mention earlier, it was awesome that the Design Star finals were filmed in Hawaii. I had no idea they were here. David and Vern, too! Gah!
I guess the voting is closed now. You know, I really think the producers want Kim to win. They had her present her room last (usually the "pimp spot"), yet for the voting, she was assigned the letter "A". I really hope she does win; I think she's great.

I wouldn't be too sure about that!!! Remember where I live! I'm more apt to be in shorts and hiking boots! (...but I do where them quite stylishly ) Once you move from a city, you get out of the habit of dressing up. (hmmmm, that winter white suit is really quite lovely - but I need new studded snow tires...) and when you are constantly battleing several feet of snow, I'm certainly not wearing high heels much! Guess I just have to clean up my act.....

But um yea the Amerge really cracked the case of my migraine that I'd had for 27days out of 36. Today is my third day migraine free. I still have other issues with my neck but that's another story that I won't repeat here. I wish you got Colorsplash I know you'd like David B. Eric Villency sounds familiar, I'll have to keep my eye open for him. Oh there's this other show it was on last night with Vern Yip .... I love Vern Yip. I cried last night watching his show. It was the best makeover and you just had to see it. He helps people that are needy. Wonderful program. He's an HGTV designer. I think the show is called You Deserve It or maybe not but that's what he always says to the people. Gotta go Lexi.
