The great filly, Ruffian, who you named yourself from! Truly one of the greatest racers ever to step foot on a track! I hope you enjoyed the blast from the past!

I am not Ruffian and I know next to nothing about horses, but that is truly a beautiful picture of a beautiful horse, Warhorse.

Rose, that's Ruffian! She was a racehorse from the 70's who an undefeated champ. She broke down (broke a leg) in an exhibition/match race against the top male horse of the time. It was a real tragedy . My screenname is for her.

Thanks so much for explaning that to me, Ruffian. What a wonderful and tragic story. I think it is so neat that you chose your username based on this wonderful horse.

Thanks Rose! It's such an awesome/terrible story. She was really remarkable as a racehorse. And was such a looker, too. She's buried at the Belmont Park race course (where she died) with her nose pointed towards the finish line. The horse I posted for her is Sunday Silence, he was a champ in the late 80's. There's something about black horses, .

Incidently, Rose, I think you're awesome. I don't mean this to sound...strange, lol, but you just seem like the sweetest person.

;D Honestly, I visit a couple of messageboards and you're by far the nicest poster I've encountered. Everybody else it seems acts, well, like an ass, just because they're on computers and no one knows them. But you're just awesome! Also, because this post has my name in the title (and that makes me practically bust from pride), I will probably never stop bumping it. Ladies, this one's gonna be around for a looong time.

The horse pictures are truly beautiful... my guess is that we all enjoy speed to some extent! Whatever track it may be on! The picture of the horse with the blaze is absolutely breathtaking... And thanks for that backstory on Ruffian... extremely interesting. And I would like to agree that Rose is wonderful!! You bring such warmth and friendship to this board! A good example for all of us to follow. I enjoy ALL of your posts.

Oh, Ruffian and Lindsey, you are both so sweet. Thank you for your kind words. I can't tell you what they mean to me. ((((((HUG))))) to you both. I can't take all the credit for friendliness, though. The two of you and so many other members here are so nice. One of the friendliest boards I have encountered. Apolo must attract nice fans. Ruffian, that is really cool that your name is in the title of this thread. I can see why you feel proud of it.

Ruffian and Rose I love the horse photos and stories..I admit I am deathly afraid of horses..but my sis in Arizona has a freind who raises them and my sons have been raised around them..during summer visits and such.. p.s. I never was an Elijah fan until I saw an obscure movie called All I Want its great...

I must admit, I am a bit afraid to get on a horse, too. I think they are beautiful animals but the two times I actually rode one, I was nervous. I think it is great that some of you are such avid horse fans, though. I wish I was braver.
I saw All I Want, too, Lauramj. It is a good movie.

I've heard a lot of good things about "All I Want." I'll have to rent that. My favorite Elijah movies have to be Radio Flyer and North.
I'm so happy to see all the horse love! I rode a bit when I was younger but I think that I would also be a litte gunshy about gettin' back on a horse. They're big and skittish and that combo makes me a tad nervous, lol.
