I don't think this has really been discussed, but I would like to know people's opinions on the FanFics (in general) on this site, because I know some people don't really like the vampire stories and I can agree that they are getting kind of 'far fetched' or 'out of control' if you will. I know. I'm writing one now (think I might delete it, or might be my only one of that type). I think I'm just going to write 'normal', sort of believable, realistic stories about Apolo. You know, just plain old fictional stories. Just want to know your thoughts, because if I do write 'plain old stories', I would really like for people to read them.

I'm definitely up for reading some plain old stories, tdavis! In fact, up until lately that's all we had here. I don't want to hurt yours or anyone's feelings, but I tend to stay away from the vampire fics. I'm not into vampires AT ALL, and I much prefer the realistic stories. Just my 2 cents.

I'm an avid reader, an Anne Rice fan, and a lover of all things creepy and weird. The stories I usually read are not based on real people though so I come to them prepared to accept pretty much anything. The operative word in fanfiction is FICTION. We all understand that it's not supposed to be real, but when it's based on a real person it can be a little off putting when the characterization is a complete 180 of who we know them to be. Not long ago, a thread was started regarding promotion of this site. Prospective members skim sites to determine if they're right for them. I can't help but wonder if fanfiction depicting their hero as bloodthirsty might make them a little uneasy. Just my 2cts.

I enjoy fanfiction in general. And it's not that I don't care for the vampire fics, I personally don't mind them, it's fiction and horror doesn't bother me, it's just that there are sooo many of them!! There are several vampire fics on here already and I'd like a little more variety. I was enjoying Lindsey's (hint, hint) very much, as well as the fics from snmphotography and crazyharryfan!

Speaking for myself here, I never meant to imply you had to stop writing it and it's not that I don't like it...I just said that I like more variety and there *is* alot of vampire stuff here. But, that doesn't mean you have to stop.
I'd just like to see some writings that aren't so "dark"...and that statement is not directed at any one person. That doesn't mean it has to be a story book romance either...it can be anything at all. It's just a general statement that I like variety, that's all. It's nothing against you and if you want to continue it, then by all means, continue.

I'm not offended and I never was. I just wanted to know people's thoughts on the stories (generally the vampire ones). I just kind of got out of the mood of writing vampire fics. I think I'm going to start just a regular old story. Then maybe finish the vampire one.

I like to read fanfic in general when my fave artist/athlete is involved, but when the fanfics all seem to be of one type it gets a bit redundant. I like variety when it comes to fanfic, and I have read every single one posted on this site.

i love fanfics.... but if they include any of the following i get a bit put off 1) easy story lines (aka no plot) 2) really far and i mean far fetched (if it's light i like it) 3) crude stuff (graphic...sexual [can i say that word here]) 4) apolo seeming mean or hateful (violence or bad language to an extreme) i dunno if these are at all used her but fanfic in general those are my things

Mates, When I said that I didn't like the vampire fan fiction, that was a personal opinion. I was in no way saying you should stop writing what ever you want to write. And other people do like it. We all don't have to like the same thing. No one should stop writing what they like just because someone else doesn't like it. I would never want to censor anything that someone writes as long it is appropriate for the age level of the youngest reader of the board.
If you have aspirations to be a professional writer, you need to grow a thick skin. You cannot let what critics, or anyone, including me (LOL) influence what you like and chose to write.

I'm not. I just don't want to write the stories if no ones going to read them. So I just wanted to get an idea of what people like.
