Just chiming in here... I'm not into reading about Apolo being portrayed as evil or violent, and definitely not into the whole sadistic tone. I appreciate the creative thought that goes into that kind of fiction (it's a huge stretch to turn our all-american athletic heartthrob into a maniacal, blood thirsty vampire!), but it's just not my cup of tea. No offense to anyone. Plain old stories sound great to me. If the inspiration is there, I'd love to read what you come up with!

Glad to see this thread and an opportunity to discuss. Here's my input. I've been visiting this site and several others regarding Apolo, trying to decide if and where to join in. I think he is an amazing young man. Gifted and from what I've seen, looking to use his gifts to be the best he can be and inspire others in a positive way. I had never heard of fanfiction before, but see it on 2 Apolo fan sites. Personally, I'm not interested in reading fiction about him. There is so much good true stuff to read about him. Especially, I would not want to see anything that portrays him in a negative way (i.e., violent, mean-spirited) or that fictionalizes his "personal" life (i.e, the romance novel type stuff). I would be very unnerved to read that kind of stuff about myself, if I were him. I think I read in another thread about how he likes to keep his private life private and I think it's creepy to discuss it in a fictional way. BTW - I have only read one story here, so I apologize if this is out of line with what you all are writing. If you were portraying him as a super-hero, slap a cape on him and have him swoop down to save the day, I might be okay with that. Don't really know. I think poems and tribute kind of things are great. And a non-Apolo fiction section for the writers in the off topic pages, maybe?
What's written on a fan site does reflect on the individual it's written about. I think you have a great site here in terms of being informative and trying to support our boy. I love looking at the pics. Just not too keen on the fiction stuff.
Thanks for listening!

thanks for your input. i see wher you are coming from totally. if i were a celeb i'd hate reading about myself anyway. but to read people writting fictional stuff about my would be even more creepy (for lack of better word). however, i find it fun to write stuff like this. the way i like to write though is you could make the "apolo" into anybody it's not just him ... it's all guys really, with a hint from what i draw about him or want him to be (least that's how i portray him)

Um, you guys? Ally's not the only one writing vampire fics around here.
I also write vampire fics.
I completely understand how you guys feel about it. I was thinking of doing a 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' inspired fic next.

Ally, I was thinking of letting you take that idea for yourself too, if you like.

<just before ducking for cover>
I have never, ever, read a fanfic on any site. In fact, prior to joining this site I had never visited a fan site...I am planning on starting in on ALL the fanfics one at a time just as soon as I catch up on the rest of the information on this board. (There is sooo much of it)
I look forward to reading all that you have to offer, and thank you all for taking the time to write it, and share it with us!

some of these fanfics have gotten out of control latley. i mean it's nice to have these type of "horror" fic but now their just clogging up the fic area! It's like whoa! I'd be nice to have some nice down to earth fanfic, which I know can be tidious because you can have writers block or might not have time to write it...if you've started a vamp fanfic then just finish it...don't keep it going forever! Either...so yeah...that's pretty much it 'til now!

Hi ...I started writing this summer about Apolo and Julianne because I find their real story so compelling, and my story is my version of a speculative romance between them. It's purely fiction... but could it happen? Anyway, the writing has been distributed among Apolo fans and non-Apolo fans alike. It's basically a love story, and even if some don't know the backstory of Apolo Anton Ohno, I've been told it's a pretty good read. Most of it is PG rated, I have a few chapters R rated, and I wonder if it is appropriate to link it to where it is on a livejournal blog that has no affiliation with other message boards.

Vegas--putting up a link is fine if you've already got it hosted someplace else! We like to have things PG-13 or less here, but if you've got a warning that some parts are R rated and it's just a link, that's fine by me. Thanks for wanting to contribute to this section! I'll probably be popping over once you've got a link up to read...!
