karma to you #1fan. I thought OZ wasn't up and working...I live in Vancouver and didn't see any pictures in the press, but then I must have had my head under a rock because I missed the chance to go watch them practice in Surrey. Didn't see that they were there until the day they were leaving. Too busy watching TV I guess. At least I saw him there! Musical Mom

Thanks Lori for the info on SLC World Cup. I'll have to remember to bring that address with me 'cause I will still be in the Big Island.

I just did a tally from this thread, the Yahoo Group, and my PM's - it seems that so far we'll have a dozen or so from GA at each World Cup and at Nationals, plus some of the OZ 'regulars' and a few from some of the other boards - a lot of the same peeps as last year plus some new faces. In total, it's about as many different people as last year, but we're split between 3 major events. A fun group, to be sure... GOOD TIMES! 'Looks like it's just going to be a handful (or less) of us at AmCup1 though - I guess I didn't do a very good job of 'selling' that one

Hi All, I just got off the phone with Speed Skating Canada and I'm very excited. Got put on the press list (told them I was a free lance writer) for attendance at a Meet Canada's Short Track Team event on July23 at the Pacific Coliseum. Figured it would be a way to check out the venue, parking, etc. Athletes will be training on the ice from 10:30 to 12 noon and they will be available for interviews directly after the training session. Doubt if I'll get an interview and I don't have a good camera, but will take some snapshots on my throw away, get them developed and then scanned to my computer for posting. The following athletes are listed as being there: Charles Hamelin, Jean-Francois Monette, Francois-Louis Tremblay, Kalyna Roberge, Tania Vicent and Amanda Overland. They even plan to serve refreshments! Don't know what I'll get but will give it my best. They had no news on tickets for October yet. Said to check short track web sites. Musical Mom

You're welcome Wildfire, Since I don't really have any formal press credentials, it should be interesting. I told the truth though because I really am a "free lance writer"....I write on the fan boards! Sometimes it's true, "Nothing ventured, nothing gained!" Maybe this is the beginning of a whole new career .....I could submit articles to our local press and on line. hmmm? I wonder.. MM

Hey Lori, maybe this time you'll get the close up photo of Mr Gorgeous Hamlin.... I'm still chuckling at your "frozen in tracks" moment when he looked at you and smiled....

Hi Lori; Since I'm past the age of swooning( well mostly with the exception of Apolo and his force field), I'll do my best to get a close up picture of Charles Hamlin for you. Maybe I can borrow a digital camera for the occasion, if not I'l get a snapshot. It's the least I can do. MM

I'm counting on you, and I'm sure I'm not the only one! First and foremost, though - HAVE A GREAT TIME! Thanks for posting the link to the Vancouver organizing committee - that's the site I've been checking, but I haven't been checking it every day, so it'll be good to have more 'eyes' on it! There's a woman at one of the hotels who's gonna call me if they get the contract as the host hotel (she thinks they will). I assume that if for any reason they don't get the contract, that she'll be able to tell me who does.

OK, it is me, the PIA. My DH does not want to see Apolo skate (he's jealous and I am sticking with that story). My best friend does not want to travel right before Christmas and honestly I don't either. But I have my travel and hotel set up for St. Louis.
I am going to see Apolo skate, plain and simple. If he is not skating I am not interested. That said, what are the probabilities he will skate in Vancouver? I could fly into Seattle, free on Southwest, and then drive to Vancouver...looks like a 2 hour drive.
So, short track experts, is Apolo likely to skate in Vancouver???
