Lori, thanks for all the info about Team Worlds posted above. You're so sweet to take time to write it up for us! Not sure I understood it all... I guess you have to be there. Does this mean we're going to be huddled around our computers again this weekend, looking for news and any possible live feed from China? Do you know if ISU will have live stats? I can't tell from looking at their website, though it lists the event and seems to be set up for putting the stats in. Good thing this is the last event this year... my husband is getting jealous.

Linmiste, I'm quite sure that sportsresult will have the data feed, like last weekend.
They're also having the North American Championships this weekend, but I'm kind'a doubting that there will be live results of any kind for that one.
If you followed the AmCup last weekend, you probably know that Travis Jayner was the overall champion. What I didn't realize was that the win gives him a spot on the National team next season - way to go, Travis!

[/IMG]
But, will we find out about it BEFORE it's on the air? I get so frustrated when he makes an appearance and it isn't on his site. I know it's not April's fault, it is Apolo's! He should be in steady contact with her and filling her in with as much info as possible in order to make sure to capitalize on our support for him. We are his best ally. I wish he was a little nicer to us! I still love you, Apolo... just give us a heads up. I don't want to miss you.
I really don't think it's Apolo's fault, he's the busier of the 2. So please don't blame Apolo, he's not the manager of his site.

I really don't think it's Apolo's fault, he's the busier of the 2. So please don't blame Apolo, he's not the manager of his site. No harm intended, whether you took it that way or not. April has said that she posts the info she is given, and if she is not given the info in sufficient time, or at all for that matter, it is not her fault that it isn't on the site. Apolo should be in charge of the site that he calls his official website and be proactive about what info is provided to his fans. I have no doubt that Apolo is extremely busy, but what I am saying is that he should put time aside to include his die hard fans in his success through his official website. If he cannot do it personally, appoint someone who can keep the events updated. Otherwise, have it just as a fan site where nothing direct is expected. It's out of love that I am frustrated. It ruins my day when I find out that he was right down the road from me... yesterday. It's nice to have a little forewarning so that his fans can make arrangements to see him or to watch on tv. A busy schedule isn't an excuse to exclude the masses of support he has gained throughout the years. For many of you that know me, I am the first to come in and defend Apolo and hold up the defenses. Sometimes I am quiet on the board, sometimes not so much, but my support and admiration for Apolo has never wavered from the beginning... since 2002!

Apoloslove, I know exactly how you feel, and I feel the same way about not hearing current news from Apolo about his activities and appearances. It's not that he's not being nice to his fans, but I think sometimes he avoids too much publicity just to have a rest, you know. I would imagine it's pretty tiring to always show his public face and answer the same questions all the time.
He has an introverted, reclusive side to him that I think is coming out again, especially after all the publicity and hype from DWTS that became a bit negative sometimes. And he's concentrating mainly on his speedskating now. His goal is to win in speedskating, especially for the 2010 Olympics, and I believe that's mainly what he cares and thinks about. Other unrelated public appearances is almost trivial to him, I believe. So, guess we are heading for a bit of a drought, like lillyover70 said.
I just hope others are able to find new current pictures and news about him to keep our spirits high until the next World Championships. I'm looking, but I'm just not very good at it. BTW, thanks to everyone who is sharing what they find.

apoloslove and breeze...i know what you mean and hear your frustration. apolo...i can only imagine how hectic your life is but in this day and age, there's no excuse for not keeping your official website current or for your fans to miss any of your appearances in person or in media. i am a very organized and detail oriented person, who would make a 'perfect' personal assistant for you . heck a gal can dream can't she .

He's a very busy man and still training for the Olympics. I'm sure he's exhausted but, rest his soul, still takes time for appearences. And if you miss him try again next time! But still a few haven't met him yet, so you're not the only one.

Hmmm....back to the PR debate. Starting with the USS. I find it amazing that the USS site only has an article about Korea and Apolo's win. No big pic on the home page of Apolo or Katherine R. One would think that the USS would learn the lesson one day and keep THEIR site current...it took until this morning to actually get an article up and running about Apolo's World Championship.
2nd: Katherine Reutter is hot as noted by the poll votes on wcsn.com. USS now has a male and female face for Short Track, so it's time for some real marketing while they are on their mini-break.
3rd: Regarding Apolo appearances. Last we heard he is signed with 15 minutes and a Lisa Perkins is his immediate rep. Unless he has changed agency, we can assume he is still signed with them. To me, it's 15 minutes job to keep the world informed as to Apolo's professional comings and goings. I would assume they do all of his bookings. If 15 minutes has done their research they should know about every Apolo board out there from a.com (sorry) to Oz and all of those inbetween. Many of the mbrs on those boards are duplicates from one spot to another. But if you just factor in the GAers and OZers there's a nice fan base whereby one could get the word out of where and when Apolo will show up again. I think putting the heat on April at the "official website" is not completely fair.
Once again I lament the fact that through our abundant resources and efforts--we are better able to keep one another informed than the peeps who are paid to do so! Thank goodness for the internet and our common bond of Apolo and the betterment of Short Track Speed Skating.
Stepping off soap box....next...LOL

Honestly, how tough was it for USS to think of that and pick up the phone? What started as an entity that just plain leaves a bad taste in every fans mouth, after finding out what I know now while researching the funding issues, I may have officially moved that opinion into extreme and outright hostility. But that's a rant for another thread. Gasp wrote: 2nd: Katherine Reutter is hot as noted by the poll votes on wcsn.com. Stepping off soap box....next...LOL
Guess I'm stepping ON that soapbox after you vacated-LOL. It does amaze when the fan sites, ANY fan site, knows more about what's going on with Apolo, than his official site, media folks, press, etc. While I can understand Apolo's desire to step away from the insanity, the media glare and just live a somewhat 'normal' life,- from a third party perspective, when his own official site is the last place you go for current information ('cause there ain't any), it just makes everyone involved look incompetent. Probably unfairly, but the impression just the same. But it certainly does appear like the guy either needs a personal assistant, ...or he just likes leaving everyone guessing. Hopping off this soapbox, going to the Skateraid thread to hop up on that one! ...I feel a RANT coming on....
