Closer than you'd think, GND. Much closer... *adjusts binoculars* Lori, am I reading this right? Ruff is actually 'stalking' you! H*** no, I won't run for the hills, I'll invite her over on Sunday - maybe she could walk here... 2pm, Ruff, Canadians in HiDef...

I'd just follow you to the hills. I'm not afraid of slight inclines...anymore. Wait, what's happening? The Canadians are going to be on TV? Is Jesus answering more of my secret nighttime prayers? Amazing! It's the WC6 broadcast on the station that nobody gets. I recorded it, and a few of the gang from SLC are coming over Sunday to watch it. I already watched some of it, and Hamelin in HD is almost as good as Apolo in HD... Sorry saps didn't broadcast the medal ceremonies, though... If you live nearby I can be bribed... Oh, crap, just realized I'm on the wrong thread - no wonder nobody's talking World Championships!!!

Made a new logo, this time I used the general colors to add some "rocker" to the graphic. What do you ladies think? *as always, graphics are 100% editable, no you can't eat them lol*

I put the logos on some t-shirts: Cafepress.com is great for doing the t-shirts and the proceeds could go towards the The Rocker Fund.

Apolostarr, I really love the first T-shirt - the one with the 'rocker' on it. I'm warming up to the name, too!

Well, we're off! The first wave of various E-mails have been sent to the various 'powers that be'. Hopefully we will hear back and have more information for you all soon. In the meantime, keep posting your ideas, concerns, interests, here so we can all discuss them. We had a few other ideas for doing some fund raising, but for now, I gotta get to work. Talk to you all soon.

Just a quick update on the happenings on this project. We have been in contact with some of the clubs that are the initial affiliation the skaters start with. (Though we have many more to talk to) Many of them are 501c3 non profit groups, meaning your donations are tax deductible and will go directly to the skaters you ask that the money go to. For those skaters who belong to clubs that are not hooked up as a non profit group, you can still donate to a specific skater, up to $11 000 as a gift, ( I need to double check those figures- or my writing just to make sure that is correct) The skater does not have to claim gifts as income. it is not tax deductible however. But at least it doesn't bind the skater up with tax issues. The bigger issue, and the more pressing matter at hand (well, ok, I think it is appalling...and the more I learn, the more I'm appalled) is the skaters that are truly in the most need of financial help. Most of us would think that the Senior level skaters on the National Team are getting enough funding from USS, USOC etc, etc,. We would think wrong. (And contrary to earlier remarks - no, they ain't rich) Many of you expressed an interest in supporting the up and coming skaters on the Junior team. An admirable concept to be sure. However, it is becoming apparent as we talk to the clubs, that the Seniors, the ones who represent us at Nationals, American Cups, World Cups, Worlds, the ones that are currently the pool of skaters from which the next team will be chosen to represent us at the next Olympics, are the skaters that find themselves in the worst financial need, sadly enough. It seems fair, that the skaters that have worked so hard to get to the elite level, who have already proven themselves, have already devoted a large majority of thier lives to skating, are the ones who deserve our first round of support. The financial squeeze on those who participate in this sport is so widespread, that if we tried to support both the seniors and the juniors, I fear we would be spread so thin for our first attempt, that we wouldn't be helping much of anyone. Certainly, you as fans will have your favorites. If they are on the Junior team and you feel strongly about donating your money to them, we will certainly give out the necessary information you need to do so. Given the information we have gathered so far, it seems that many of the skaters we spent our time rooting for at Worlds, American Cup, and National Intermediate events this weekend, are the ones feeling the largest financial pinch. I've got lots more to discuss with you all, but this post is long enough, and I really need to get some Z's. We'll chat more later. I also have an idea to avoid the 'popularity contest' thing too.

mtnme...i guess it makes sense that the senior/elite skaters would require more funds to keep themselves at that level of competitiveness, afterall they are in the class/division where all skaters want/aspire to be at.
i still would like more info on the up and comers too...those with sights on 2014 and beyond. i'm one that hates to see potential fall by the wayside. in the long run, if team usa is to become stronger, they must have more in the talent pool to select from.
m'dear, thank you so much for this information and your unwavering dedication .
