Don't know if this is really news but it was news to me...
April updated aao.com tonight to say that she is there at SLC and will be giving updates on Apolo's races and will have pictures from the post awards news conference. Of course, she is not as up to date on the races as GA but considering aao.com has not always had updates and this is the first time that I have seen any race updates, during the races, I thought this was pretty significant.
I hope aao.com will continue to stay up-to-date.

Even though this really isn't specific Apolo news, they might talk about him, but Kelly Monaco, Drew Lachey, Emmitt Smith, Helio Castroneves, Tom Bergeron, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli are going to be on "Oprah" on Thursday, February 21 to "weigh in on past performances, their favorite moments, and what it takes to win." Here's the link (go the the Thursday, 21 show at the top): www2.oprah.com/tows/coming/tows_come_main.jhtml

Since Apolo signs up very last minute for some stuff--maybe having that extra day off allowed him to tape a segment for the show. However, if it were me in his "skates" I'd be home resting!

Thanks, mm. Here's what I wrote: Whom I want to see on LKL -- Apolo Anton Ohno, 5-time Olympic medalist in speed skating, entrepreneur, philanthropist, author, winner of Dancing with the Stars #4. His story is inspiring, his journey challenging, his worldview thought-provoking. He is modest, well-spoken, and gracious. I think he would have a lot to say about the value and the hardships of the Olympics and training, including the political aspects of the IOC; about his philosophy of life; about giving back to others; about the relationship with his Father; about his experiences and his dreams; about his investments and the future of America; about rising from a rebellious teenager to a charming celebrity. I know you have interviewed him briefly before, but even a full hour would not satisfy the inquiring minds of his fans. Thank you.
I hope that was okay!

Linmiste; That was eloquent! Should get their attention. Have you worked in PR? You really captured Apolo in a paragraph. And you gave them all the angles they need for a meaningful interview. Let's hope they listen. MtMe; Yes, lets inundate them with requests. It's time someone interviewed Apolo as the intelligent, multi-faceted, inspirational ,champion and role model that he is. I've also posted this idea on www.apoloandjulianne.comIf you think it's a good idea, go ahead and post it on other Apolo sites. I've run out of time as I'm packing for a business trip to Vegas- leave Monday, back March 1. Go for it with my blessing. Lets see what the power of fanship can accomplish! Musical Mom ;D ;D

Hi all; You inspired me to write a guest request letter as well. ( I had earlier just submitted his name, don't know why I wasn't thinking more clearly...thanks Linmiste) So here is my submission: Dear Larry King Staff I'd like to propose Apolo Anton Ohno as a guest on Larry King Live. I know you've interviewed him briefly in the past, but there is so much more to this man than being the season 4 Dancing With The Stars Champion and his fan base is ever increasing. He is multi-faceted and could offer much meaningful conversation on many topics. He is a young man of great character, dedication, and talent and is that rare type of athlete, like a young Tiger Woods, whose focus and work ethic both motivate and excite others to pursue excellence in all they do. He is thoughtful, intelligent, well spoken , unassuming and has a charming smile and sense of humor. He would draw a broad audience of all ages to the show. As you may know, Apolo is a 5-time Olympic medalist in short track speed skating and has become the face of the U.S. speed skating team which have recently moved to Salt Lake City for their training center, hired some well respected coaches and are developing into serious contention with the Korean, Chinese and Canadian speed skaters for places on the podium. Having just competed in two world cups ( Quebec and Salt Lake City) and medaled at both, Apolo and the U.S. team (both men's and women's)are currently in serious training for the 2008 ISU World Championships . These will be held March 7-10 in Gangneung City, Gangwon Province, Korea. As the senior and most experienced member of the U.S. team, Apolo will likely have much to say after the meet about the U.S. preparations for the 2010 winter Olympics to be held in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. He has been instrumental in bringing this exciting sport to the attention of a wider audience, providing leadership to his teammates, all the while continuing to train seriously to compete in his 3rd Olympics! At the young age of 25, this amazing young man has already had an incredible journey, guided by his single parent Dad Yuki, and fueled by his ever developing inner strength and dedication to his goals. He has written a book, The Journey, which tells of his travels from a rebellious teenager to an Olympic Gold medalist. As if this weren't enough accomplishment, he continues to pursue his education, is involved in various business ventures, is generous with his time and energy for youth projects, is known as being very appreciative with his fans, and has recently become a charismatic TV personality following his amazing performance on Dancing With The Stars. The camera loves him! He could easily fill an entire hour with Larry King that would draw viewers of all ages from many genres who would enjoy getting to know more of APOLO ANTON OHNO, athlete, dancer, role model and all around nice guy! How refreshing a guest he would be. Sincerely,
would love to read other submissions as well...

musicalmom, you can be sure I put in my two cents at LKL. I not only suggested an interview with Apolo, but all his short track team mates as well. Olympic athletes in general and short track in particular gets very little attention in this country. With us heading into the 2 year mark before the Vancouver games, it's time to introduce all these fine athletes to the American public. WE all know Apolo's story, and the recent articles on Charles Ryan Levielle, Allison Baver, Jordan Malone, Jeff Simon, Kathleen Reuter etc. etc, have all been very inspirational and only add to the ST legacy Apolo has been at the forfront of for so long. Olympic athletes are a dedicated and driven bunch. It's time to give them their due. I for one have heard more than I care to about Lindsey's drinking, Paris's partying, and Britany's - well everything. Let's see some positive young role models in the media for a change!

Here, Here, MtnMe Great idea to focus on whole short track team as well and what it takes to become an Olympian. As to Lindsey, Paris and Brittany monopolizing TV and Print....maybe...just maybe....if we INUNDATE WELL....we can begin to convince the media that lots of people are fed up with the sensationalism and will tune in to "good" news more readily...IMO, much of the media has gone off the rails in the last few years, virtually feeding on their own need for material by "creating" material, ie. controversy that probably isn't worth the air it travels on.....and then believing their own press!! I'm also getting tired of false "experts" giving their opinions on stuff we don't need to know, and "cutesy teams of commentators" with their rollercoaster inflections , over dramatic delivery, false jocularity or shock, and insensitive or inappropriate questions...oops, thanks for listening...I guess I've watched too much CNN these past weeks what with the elections and all. Anyway, WE are the viewers so What WE want should count...maybe we need to start telling them...here's a place to start. Bet you socked it to them! That's great. MM
