Apolo retiring

i have a feeling i know apolo and i know he throughly thinks thing through it will take him a while to make up his mind on such a big decsision

I'm new to the board but......Here's what I heard in an interview on KOST radio a few days ago. Apolo said he definately was thinking about skating in 2010, but he wants to do something big. Like qualify for both long track and short track events. Apolo said that would be a big deal and he would love to go for that type of a challenge. ;D

Apparently Apolo is staying with a "buddy" in L.A. so he hasn't even been home yet.

From what I've read, Shani Davis was going to try and do that but he had a hard time switching between the two because they are different. So, with Apolo being such a good friend of Shani's I'm sure that has something to do with him even considering it. Apolo really wants to do something "big" next. That's what he said.

Apolo also said he has a hard time deciding what to do next when he's in L.A. I guess there are too many distractions there for him to even make a decision. He is such a huge competitor, and sports has been his life, I feel we will definitely see him on the ice in 2010.

Welcome to the board, under! I actually haven't heard a lot of talk about the radio show, so any new info you have to share would be appreciated, I'm sure! I'm glad to see that Apolo is still considering another go at the Olympics... and it's so "him" to want to do something great again!

Thank you for the welcome Lindsey! The radio interview was on 3/16. That's the most current interview out there I think. It was the Mark and Kim morning show (I think), and Apolo even let them both feel his thigh! They were really impressed too.

Apolo also said that during the gold medal ceremony his emotions were very high, much higher than any other medal ceremony. He said it all meant so much more to him than it did in 2002. And it sounded like he is still working out, not pumping iron, but most other workouts he is doing. Running, LandRollers, biking, etc.

Apolo was asked if Paris Hilton called him would he take that call, and he said yes he would, that he had a couple of questions he wanted to ask her. It was pretty funny!

yeah. allison baver is competing in the world championships in montreal, but apolo is not because he's "taking a break"...or something.

Yes, I agree he sounds single. Apolo has told his dad his relationship with Allison was not serious. Yuki was worried that it would distract Apolo, so it sure sounds like it is a relationship of convienence.

Apolo is very interested in a social life and what he thinks he's missing, so I'm guessing he would love to date and party for a while. Especially in the Hollywood scene. It's very attractive to him it sounds. But then again, as involved in sports as he as been all his life, I would think he would get the itch to get back to sports.

Time will tell.....
