World Cup #3** is taking place Nov. 5-8, 2009 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.**As a reminder, this is the one (1) of two (2) Olympic Qualifying Events. The second being World Cup #4 in Marquette, Michigan. This Olympic Qualifying Event will determine how many individual skating spots our team will have (up to 3) and whether or not we will have a relay team as well (which will bring our total up to 5 skaters of men and 5 skaters of women, if we do qualify). TEAM USAMENApolo Ohno J.R. Celski (Jeff Simon is taking his place) Jordan Malone (Ryan Leveille is taking his place as Jordan is out with an ACL injury) Travis Jayner Simon Cho Anthony Lobello Jr. (He rounds out the team as the sixth skater that we can take to WC's) WOMENKatherine Reutter Alyson Dudek Kimberly Derrick Allison Baver Lana Gehring Jessica Smith (She rounds out the team as the sixth skater that we can take to WC's) - - - - - - The Announcement: webpoint.usspeedskating.org/files/Event_PDFs/1114_Event_OtherDoc.pdfThe Venue: Maurice-Richard Arena Website: www.coupedumonde2009.com/ (under construction as of posting) - - - - - - This is a look at the interior of Maurice-Richard Arena: I think this was taken before it was 'renovated' because in a 'newer' picture there are red, white, and blue seats and it looks larger. Nevermind, Lol. I think it's the angle of the shot.

I sure hope that that is an artsy-fartsy picture, and it's really not outside 'under the stars'!

I love the look of this venue. The fans will see things from the "top" so to speak.
Looks like the skaters will be in a more secluded area.

Yep! Maricorgi, mtnme, susie and myself. Well, suzie has to check with her boss but she's pretty confidendent. We have a hotel scoped out and a sweet deal on a 'family suite'; maricorgi and i are driving up from bean-town; susie and mtnme are flying in, and mtnme will be driving back to Boston with us to do a little sight-seeing for a few days.
You a-comin'?

Thank-you 3B and 19 for posting the event info! I just purchased my event tickets, so everything is starting to come together. Wags is joining our group and Lori has expressed an interest in possibly coming along as well. We are staying at a cute little inn about three miles from the rink. I've been wanting to go to an eastern Canadian WC for the past couple of years, so I'm really excited about it!

Tony Chung has just announced on his twitter -- shorttrackhd -- that Jordan Malone has torn his ACL and won't be at the World Cups. And that Lee Ho Suk has broken his ankel and will miss out on those as well. Charles Ryan will step in for Jordan. Ryan Bedford was actually up next to sub, but he is participating in the the long track Olympic Trials.
Jordan hasn't actually said anything on facebook, except to say that he finally got a 'real' diagnosis and was headed back to Dallas.

His mom needs to lock that boy up in the house until the Olympics. We want him injury free! The only remotely bright side of this is he won't have to take his chances in Marquette...both on and off the ice! Wear hospital masks Team USA - and NO FALLING!
Step AWAY from the PADS!!!!!
