In each bracket, the top finishing team is advanced to the A Finals and the bottom team is relegated to the B Finals. Then the middle 2 teams compete in a Repechage round with the middle 2 teams in the other bracket. So, if I understand this correctly, both the men and the women will be skating in the Repechage. The men are in the #2 spot and the women in the #3 spot. Yes, that's right, Evie, here's how it should play out after Bracket 1: LADIES: China - Final A Italy - Repechage USA - Repechage Germany - Final B MEN: Korea - Final A USA - Repechage Japan - Repechage Germany - Final B By my scoring, our guys were actually tied for first place with the Koreans... EDIT: My math was wrong - I missed a 1st place finish by the Koreans. (wishful thinking, maybe...)

Lori, you are a brave soul. I wouldn't even attempt math at 5:30 in the morning Actually, for the first time I'm impressed with the ISU site. They are updating the "Team Standing" in each bracket immediately after each heat. When I figured that out, I literally put down the pen and paper that I had in bed with me and the computer.

Justsayin, thanks so much for your report, especially for checking out the foreign TV streams. I had a very tough week at work, and chose to sleep in this morning.
Dove, are you getting your stream from NBC/Universal?
Any opinions on what happened to Apolo in the 1000m?

Good morning everybody. Thank you all for the updates. I hope next week will be better for you Susie. I'm a little worried for Apolo after last week's performance. I wonder what's going on. I'll be cheering hard for Team USA this weekend.

Hey just wondering is this another event to watch the flashing numbers at sportresult.com or is there a live feed somewhere?

Hey just wondering is this another event to watch the flashing numbers at sportresult.com or is there a live feed somewhere? I am watching flashing ISU numbers. The event site has a live video feed, but access to the U.S (and Japan) is restricted. This is the link to the event site: www.knsb.nl/live-2009/wk/shorttrack/content/home/en/(there is a "live video" tab on the top of the page) A few pics from this morning...

please don't tell me only the top 2 from each heat advances It is my understanding that these heats determine the points for each country. Thus, the better that our team does, the more points that are scored. Then, the top two teams will go to the A finals and the bottom two teams will go to the B finals. (Someone correct me if I am wrong.)

Right again, Evie! The higher we finish in each race, the more points are accumulated for the team - the top 2 teams in total points in the Repechage Round go to the A Final tomorrow - the bottom teams to the B Final.
We're currently in the lead with 28 points, and it looks like Katherine just got us 5 more points in that 3000M! ;D
