This World Cup was not on the original schedule due to funding issues. Apparently, this has been resolved as TEAM USA is now competing in Nagano too.

I heard the reason they weren't going is that it was too close to Nationals, which the skaters wanted to focus on to make the World Team. Hey, just more short track for us to watch! ;D

Fantastic news, Gasp -- thank you! ;D Team USA departs this Saturday for China, right? It will be a different kind of Thanksgiving for them, I think. I'm departing next Wednesday with my brother and sister-in-law to spend Thanksgiving in Maine. My nephew (a restaurant chef) and niece were on a Travel Channel show last night promoting a specialty of theirs -- Moose pate. Hmmmm. Could be an interesting Thanksgiving. (...I kid. Anytime my nephew is cooking, it's GOOD news, LOL!) ETA: Lobster rolls. Mmmmmm.

(West Coast restaurants have no concept on how to make this so that it's edible - probably because they are trying to make it 'healthy'. Nothin' but tastless, runny milk water with some clam and celery bits in it.... ick) Fuhgedaboudit! New England makes it the way God intended. Just suck it down and don't even THINK about asking how much butter and cream is in it! Yum....

Hey There! I just got a google alert to Peter Doucet's site that said Universal sports was going to broadcast St from Japan. I looked on both the streaming video and TV schedule and didn't find a thing- so I asked Peter "Hey, ya wouldn't tease a girl, now would ya?" I'll let you know if I get an answer. In the meantime, I also got this site, that said there would be live streaming video at least for Saturday, but I have no idea how you find out where on this site, as nothing seems to have a working link. But hey, this is a start..... sports4freelivestreaming.blogspot.com/By the way, Universal Sports has declared Apolo Athlete of the Month. www.universalsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPID=13052&DB_OEM_ID=23000&ATCLID=3625538

Universal Sports had Beijing listed on their schedule online weeks ago and then they removed it...this time Nagano is not on their schedule so the logical thing would be that they DO indeed broadcast it. Ok, I will tone down the sarcasm regarding the awesomeness of Universal Sports, ISU, etc. if we can get video. I'm going to have to call my digital cable provider because the channel that was previously Universal Sports, for the past week is broadcasting another channel ("THIS" network) even though the TV listings still reveal it should be Universal Sports...*sigh* Also, thanks for the streaming video link. I actually see ST listed for Saturday so fingers crossed. Edited to add: Took a closer look and Nagano WC is actually listed for Friday, December 12th: www.universalsports.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=23000&KEY=&SPID=13052&SPSID=105576

ITA sk8on. Every google alert you get about short track is out of Canada or Asia. Does USS not have a media person who can call the coaches and say--need an update from Beijin for the site? If I can visit with my friends in Germany via text, one would think.....

Hey guys: Just received the streaming video information from a very backdoor google alert about how to sharpen your skating blades. WTH? As soon as I have this site figured out and how to link, I will post here. From what I have generally read thus far--streaming video is all day Saturday & through finals on Sunday. Let's hope this is real! WOO HOO

Thanks, Mtme for the sports4freelivestreaming.blogspot.com/ link. I'm assuming that once the competition starts you will be able to click on the live button. There is no "live" button next to Sunday so I guess we're out of luck for the races on that day. Saturday 06:05 - 07:30 Short Track Skating Live! World Cup Short Track Nagano And thanks Sk8on for pointing out the Universal Sports is a "delayed" broadcast which is usually the case with them. I did enjoy watching some of the WC #1 races again when visiting their site. Wish they would put up WC #2 if they covered that event. Hopefully a "live" link will turn up for us before the World Cup competition gets started.
