And a big hi to skaters waltz from musical mom Hey there musicalmom! It was so wonderful to meet you last weekend. I remember you talking about the WC2 coming to your hometown a LONG time ago...and it was so fabulous. I wish I had more time to go sightseeing, but I have to say -- I got quite an eyeful and had quite an amazing sightseeing visit right there at the Pacific Coliseum. (...only 6 more days until we VOTE! Everybody - don't forget to vote next Tuesday -- like anyone could forget!)

With so many pics being posted, are we in danger of having the thread disappear, like with the 'Nationals' thread of last December? Thanks for the reminder, lily!! Good point.

What fabulous pics EVERYONE!!! I thank you all for the wonderful reminders of the weekend. They make me feel all warm and fuzzy all over again.
All I can do is add color commentary. One of the best memories of the whole event was Apolo's reaction to winning the relay final. It had to be the best relay I've ever seen. Please excuse my poetic license if I'm not completely correct. This is how I remember it!
We all knew that unless something crazy happened it would be between Canada and USA. The race started out very close and few, if any, lead changes for about the first half of the relay. It was actually kind of boring until we realized how close it could be. Finally, Canada and USA started putting a little distance between them and the other 2 teams. (GB and Japan) The last...oh maybe... 10 laps were as close and exciting as anything I've ever been lucky enough to enjoy. There were several lead changes and we knew it was going to come down to a race between Charles Hamlin and Apolo....with Charles in the lead. We couldn't have won by more than a foot at the most! WOW, it was close. When USA won, Apolo was so jubilant that he spun around (a whole 360) on the ice. I've never seen him do that before. I thought someone said they might have gotten a picture of that. I hope so!!! Then he and Jeff, JR and Anthony stayed out on the ice a long time. Just skating around and being happy. It was a joy to behold.
Their excitement and rush of pleasure from winning was totally contagious.
Thanks again to all you guys that took all those beautiful pictures for us to drool over.

I hope so!!! wags- I saw that too! And he literally jumped up in the air and spun around at one point! It was just so weird to see his skates leave the ice like that...they are usually so firmly planted. I've been asking around and looking around if anyone got this on tape. Would be so great if they did because it's priceless.

Thanks to everyone for the awesome pictures. You ladies out did yourselves. Wags, I felt like I was watching the 5000m relay finish with your commentary. Wish I could have seen that jubilation. Hopefully a video will appear in the future for our entertainment. Thanks again everyone for the pics and your posts.

Okay... I have an important question.
With so many pics being posted, are we in danger of having the thread disappear, like with the 'Nationals' thread of last December? Can someone here alert us when we need to start a new thread... I don't want to crash the system... LOL..!!
Also, my pics haven't been editted or enhanced with software b/c I just don't have the time to do that. What you're seeing are the actual shots, some are a little 'soft', some are a little dark, and I'll just post the original pics.
Number1fan... if you have photoshop... I wouldn't mind if you took a full-face shot of Ryan and put his face in the team photo (where he is hidden)... I won't have time b/c I've got to put together many albums for the Special Olympics athletes before their next games the first part of December. Just a thought! i was thinking the same thing lily. mtnme...lori, what do you think? mods? we cannot lose this fabulous thread.
m'dear, your pics are marvelous just the way they are!
sorry but i don't own photoshop...i can provide the photos, if someone does the work..apolostarr? ...that would be such a great team shot with ryan edited in there.

It isn't the amount of pics per say, it's the number of posts. Once we go over 1000 posts, we run the chance of the thread nuking itself. When the thread is loaded with photos, it's even more likely. I do prefer it when the photos are on the thread we're discussing, it's kind of a nuisance to read about the event here, and then go to another thread to see the pics for it. So I'm going to go back and duplicate them on the pictures section for the event, as that is the photo archive for WC1 and 2 once we're done chatting about this here on this thread. Does that make sense? On another note, I'm in the process of posting the rest of our trip to Whistler, Vancouver and the Grouse Grind for those of you who didn't get to do much site seeing, but since they really aren't about Apolo or the event per se, I'm posting it on the 'Where have you been?" thread on the un-Apolo board.
