J.R. is no slouch in the brain department either. He's been accepted to Cal, the University of California at Berkeley, the best public university in the world. (They have special parking plaques for the many Nobel Prize winners). If he doesn't make the Olympic team he's going to Cal, probably the most difficult public university to get into in the country. They routinely turn away loads of folks with GPAs of 4.0 and high SATs. congrats to JR future golden bear! must concur with sk8er...cal is a very difficult university to get accepted to.Young girls, old broads, and everyone in between. He is such a cutie! ain't he Not sure what I'm talking about. One of my fave movies: Meet Me in St. Louis with Judy Garland when she was in her "best" voice. clang clang clang goes the trolley...love that movie and gotta LOVE JUDY! r.i.p.

I love that movie with all my might! So many memorable scenes, it's like six movies in one. Judy was amazing and a huge round of applause to Margaret O. as well! Loved the trolly song and Lon's going away party. The Christmas dance and Merry Little Christmas (sniff). The Halloween scene... Oh heck, let me just go watch it.

Hey everybody,
This is my first time posting here. I went to Nationals recently-my first live event-and just loved it! I've watched many races on YouTube and various websites, but seeing the races live let me see the "story" of each race. It was such a different experience.
And I love the warm-ups. If you go to a live event, make sure you get there early enough to see the warm-ups. They are so cool. All the skaters are just millin' around and then a line will emerge and suddenly you have four skaters zipping past and through the others. Then just as suddenly, the line will dissolve, each skater off again in his or her own warm-up. It was really cool to watch.
I got to meet a lot of the skaters and their parents, which was such a treat. Travis Jayner is adorable. And JR is a sweetie. Poor Jordon got struck down by the speedskating gods (his words) but he was such a class act calling everyone to call AAO back into the 500 meter race after a bad ref call. And I really hope Jeff's back is better. And AAO made it worth going out in the 11* weather. Seeing him race live warmed me right up.

Hi Rinkydink, congrats on your first post! I concur with Lori, - fun name! The warm ups are the best, aren't they? People don't know what they're missing if they don't show up early. It's worth those early morning wake up calls....(usually following those late night bull sessions with the 'posse') Poor Wags, we kept her up waaaaayyyy past her bedtime! -and thanks Wags! The party room was great!... ( I'm still thinking about that fudge....probably because I can no longer have any)

Sorry, Susie! (But Wags brings candy and Christmas trees, and I can be 'bought'...) LOL! Hey, my guys are holding their own. You can keep those fingers crossed. Gotta love our rookie QB. ETA: Joe Flacco, first rookie quarterback in NFL history to win two playoff games! Love ya', Joe! (...and they didn't give him so much as one vote for Offensive Rookie of the Year. *grumble, grumble, grumble*...) Wags, your Titans put up a worthy fight. That game was a nail-biter right up until the end.
