Hi everyone - during Nationals I was out in the lobby talking to this gentleman, Larry Lanius, who was taking pictures of the races and is licensed to sell them. His pictures are now up on his website and you can sign in for free and view his photography. He's got some great stuff: l2photography.lifepics.com/net/Pro/Default.aspx

And Mtnme...Master of Blurriness! LoL! Wise master, don't give out your 'secrets' just yet, haha! We could always play "guess that skater"?!

I don't know what's going on with him this year. Bubblebuttsbabe would probably agree that he's never had a season like this since 2002. I do agree. It's crazy. I hope 2009 is better for him. Thanks to everyone who has posted their wonderful pictures. ;]

Wow, where to begin? First, I guess I should state how much I LOVED going to see an Olympic quality event like that. I have ran at Drake relays and met Track & Field Olympians but this was SO cool in how personal everything is. I just strolled up to athletes if they weren't too busy and they ALL were very sweet and fun people. I have always been a Speedskating fan but some of the US Team just makes me personally love them even more getting to meet them personally. I think J.R. and Katherine are definitely my biggest favs but once again I ALL the athletes out there working for their dream. Secondly, I'm really glad got to meet some of you ladies here on the board. My friends give me weird looks when I jump around my house with a Travis Jayner & Kimberly Derrick autograph shirt. They just don't get the awesomeness that is speedskating. At least I have a group out there who understands the coolness. Lastly, what a great meet! Besides a little bit of drama, all in all a great meet. I got talk to pretty much the whole US squad EXCEPT Apolo. lol The story goes is that Friday night I stayed around for probably about half hour or so after awards. Stayed around talked to Kimberly Derrick, then I spotted J.R. with some little kids around the area. Couldn't figure out if they wanted his autograph/picture or what so I strolled up and asked in which they replied "we are waiting for Apolo". So I asked J.R. to sign my shirt and chatted with him and his mom(? not quite sure if it was his mom or coach). Very sweet guy with an nice looking smile if I do say so. Waited around for a bit longer to see if Apolo would be out (I'm sure he was getting cooled down, rubbed out, ice bath, etc). My mom was getting a little impatient so I figured what the hey I have 2 more days. Well, we all know that Saturday wasn't a very good day for him. I was talking to Katherine Reutter and her dad (family), then saw Travis, Jordan, Allison, and a few others I can recall on the top of my head. I don't even remember what I was doing but a crowd surrounded the locker room hallway and Apolo was out and was taken up by kids, fans, and by the time I made my way up there he was gone (not surprising since they were replaying the 500m final in back of him which I'm sure was pretty aggravating so he didn't stay anymore than 5 minutes (basically trying to take a picture, sign an autograph and keep moving). So alas, another failed attempted. Which wasn't good because my sister informed me that she wanted to go home for her birthday meaning we would have to leave early from the meet. Hence, why I asked approx. when it would be over hoping that I could maybe get to see everything with a little extra time to get a quick picture or autograph. Well, luckily we made it to the end of the meet but from there we had to get on the road meaning my last change was blown. I was bummed but I have been wanting to see a National/World Cup meet for quite a long time and to personally meeting other skaters was a major blessing and a very exciting experience. Even if I would have known I wouldn't get a chance to meet Apolo, I would definitely do again because the US Team in general are fun, very nice, people to meet (I'm definitely a Reutter and J.R. fan ). I also must say Jeff Simon has such guts to do what he did out there. To have back spasms AND skate like he did. Definitely, props to him because it definitely takes a lot of determination and tolerance to do what he did out there. Even after each race when the ladies gave him a cheer he would recognize them which I thought was super sweet. ;D So enough of my rambling, I got my pictures all organized. Forgive any spelling, grammar mistakes in the titles. Also if I misidentified a skater please let me know and I will fix it. I really wanted to get as many people identified because I thought it was important to know who they are in the picture. AND my disclaimer about using my pictures are at the very bottom but who ever is in charge of theRocker's fund (not sure if that's you Lori). But you may use any of my pictures on theRocker fund site if needed. The easiest way to get to the next picture is to click on the current projected picture, it will then go to the next picture. helios.augustana.edu/~jrm/AugieWXC/USSNationalChampionships2009 (don't mind the 2009, i just notice it automatically did the update year on my program when uploading the page, i will fix it later ) ENJOY!

Wonderful pics. Love the different 'look' that you have from behind the lens. I'm sure Lily appreciates the posts. Gives her a wee bit of a break! I'm amazed at how great all the "amatuer" photogs are. Before long AP Wire will be contacting Jerry, Lily and goodtimes for their pics. Props to all of you!

Thanks number1fan and gasp. For me, shooting photos of short track is a lot like a box of chocolates. I never know what I'm going to get. Sometimes it's a happy surprise.

Woohoo! Thank you Autumnbliss and Goodtimes for your incredible photos! It's nice to see some different perspectives. (Goodtimes, that photo of Apolo, Jeff and JR gives new meaning to the term "In your face" LOL! I loved it!) Autumnbliss, - Lori and I work as a team, but I'm responsible for the The Rocker Fund site, (Lori takes care of the Rocker-U site) and I would be grateful and honored to put some of your photos on TRF with your permission. (All my photos of Morgan Izykowski came out blurry, so if I can find one of her, I'd love to post it. The fish-eye view of the rink was awesome!) When I have more time, I'll look through all your photos more carefully and let you know which ones I would like your permission to use. And Thank You for the offer! It's very much appreciated.)

Goodtimes... WOOHOO!!! Fantastic pics... I love every one of them. I loved seeing them from 'your angle' since I didn't move from my seat much this time. So great to see everyone else's pic here too, since I'm waaay late to the party! (Somebody, somewhere, gave me a gift of the intestinal bug and then Sam got it too!) Here is a shot of JR, waiting for awards to begin on Sunday, with his *million-dollar* smile!

We sure have a talented group of photographers!
Great job everyone - and thanks for sharing your memories from St. Louis!
I particularly love goodtimes' action shot of Jeff & JR playing 'Twister', as Apolo waves 'hasta-la-vista' in Jeff's face.
Hmmm, looking at Apolo's gloves, it seems that he may have bought his tips from Jordan - wasn't it Andrew Love who had the blurb about tips and the pic of the ones Jordan sells?

I hope you don't mind but I'm going to be posting pics out-of-order because I took so many! I'm starting here with *Awards* on the final day, Sunday-Dec. 21st. I'm glad that there are many fantastic action-shots posted already b/c I'll get to those later, as time permits. I used a setting on my camera that caused the ice to have a pink cast, so I'm trying to 'whiten' the pics with software (time-consuming, to say the least). And I haven't gotten to any of the women's pics! In the future, I'm going back to my old ways of using shutter-priority setting! I love the seeing the camaderie between the skaters! Apolo seems to interact with JR quite a bit. Heck... I would too! Jordan was amazing, coming back from an injury!
