Local tv station KWWL has raised $325,000 in one dayf or the tornado victiams. The amount continues to rise! My high school football team is holding a strongman competition to help raise money to rebuild the Applington-Parkersburg high school.

I live in North East Iowa and right now we are getting some pretty bad storms. Tornado warnings to the north of me for about 2-3 hours straight. I just talked to my cousin who is camping in one of the towns that got hit...they have to go back to shelter cause they were about to get hit again. Please pray for my family and everyone in the path of these storms and everyone who has been hit by these storms. I have 25+ family members camping there. Just heard that they are evacuating a whole town northwest of me because a tornado damaged several anhydrous ammoinna tanks and they are now leaking.
Please pray for everyone in the path of these storms!

thanks...sounds like I am going to be next. Tornado warning 2 counties west of me moving east...a little farther north than me...hopefully it will miss me tho. so far w/ the storms 14 injuries and 3 deaths.

It has been several hours since your last post so I pray that things have calmed down with the weather and I'll be praying for you.
My parents live in south-central Iowa (near Ottumwa) and I have a brother and sister in the Quad Cities (Rock Island and Bettendorf).
Feel free to send some of your rain (and cooler weather) to south Texas!!!

getting pounded right now...heavy rain...wind has calmed down a bit tho. we had hail....firetrucks are going out all over don't know what is up. Power went out a couple of times. At least 2 towns have been leveled. 7 deaths in just one town. Wind is picking back up...I think the storm is getting stronger again. It has been raining for probably a half hour to 45 minutes, we already have rain in our basement. The rain is just coming down in sheets! Serious wind!!! I am getting downstairs it is getting really bad...I'll update u all after it calms down!

yikes. sounds like you're taking a beating too. i live here in illinois. it was bad this morning. the lightning and thunder was so harsh it shook the whole house. it woke me up. it did so the other morning too. another lighter storm is passing through. it's getting crazy. sending prayers your way. may it calm down.

fire trucks are still going around town. Don't know what is up. Just a light storm now. The storm that was here produced a tornado about 25 miles away. Power just went out down the block. Not sure what is going on. Tornado warnings in NE Iowa ave been consistant since 4:30 this afternoon....still going.

Apolosangel, you are in my thoughts and prayers and I hope the storm has ended and leaves you and all your loved ones safe.

thanks everyone...as of right now 6:52 am no storms. Who knows, that could change. If you hear anything on the news about the 7 deaths in Iowa, that was like 40 miles northwest of me. My cousins are fine, however there is flooding right around the area they are camping at. Emergency cleanup crews were out untill at least 1:30 when I fell asleep. We have water in our basement and there are limbs down everywhere. We didn't even have a tornado (winds were strong enough tho!) I'll pdate later, I need to try to get some more sleep.

apolosangel, it sounds like it was pretty scary for you last night. Glad to hear that you and your family are okay. I saw tv footage today of the devastation from those tornadoes in three different states. It's so sad.  |

thanks everyone. Could you keep the families of Parkersburg, New Hartford, Hazelton and Dunkerton in your prayers. Those towns were pretty much leveled. Parkersburg was evacuated and the high school was destroyed.
