July 20, 2007: Made modifications to #2.
July 13, 2007: Added a new rule on members' privacy. See #8.
June 3, 2007: Just a friendly reminder to some of our newer members--we've got sort of an official rule here to not just have one or two word posts. Of course there will be exceptions, but it's just kind of a way to prevent the board from getting cluttered. I don't want to have to go through and delete some posts because they just don't have enough to say... and I've spent some time today doing that.
Apr 25, 2006: I've modified this list to be titled "The Guidelines," because there was a lot of confusion. I've also modified them to be less specific, and combined a few, etc. Remember, this isn't the 10 (or 8, now) commandments! These are just things to keep in mind. If I see that these guidelines are no longer necessary, I just might remove them. So far, we haven't had too many problems, but I've had a few complaints. So here goes.. Feel free to let me know of any issues you have with them.
1. Keep the site "clean." Don't read too much into this, but if a post is sexually explicit, it may be modified. I do realize the majority of posters are 18+ or at that level of maturity but I want to be respectful of everyone.
2. Be respectful to other posters and to other people. Of course you will have your own opinion, but flaming people personally isn't nice. I really haven't seen much of this at all, but I wanted to include it just in case. In addition, please keep in mind that excessive/repetitive smiting is generally frowned upon. The karma feature can be cool, but when it turns into a popularity contest or a way to take out frustration, that's (to use Bella's word) just uncool. To be official, the admin and/or moderators can trace this and will deal it on a case by case basis at their discretion.
3. Try to stay on topic. Don't be afraid to open up a topic! ;D I don't delete off-topic posts, but by posting off-topic things on an old thread, it does get confusing for people trying to "catch up" or new members. Some off-topicness is totally fine, but at some point try to bring it back to the main subject. We do have an Un-Apolo related board for anything you want to talk about!
4. A little sillyness is okay, but let's try to keep it to a minimum - a little is okay, of course! All of us are going to get a little crazy about Apolo now and then. lol.
5. Use the "Modify Post" option. If you have a spelling error, there's really no need to post again telling us you had a spelling error -- it's so easy just to modify your post! If you got a fact wrong and realized it later, again, feel free to modify your post. It's a great option (I use it all the time, lol!)
6. If you have a question about how to do something, please post in the FAQ/Help thread. That's what it's there for! That's the place I go to first when I get on the forums. If you post for help somewhere else, we might not get to it as fast. But I guarantee we'll help you as fast as we can. We don't have all the answers, but I know I'm willing to go and search it out for you!
7. If you use any graphic, like signatures from the galleries, or any avatars, please credit the user. It's not nice to take another person's work and not give them the praise! (this is a special request from nerka who works very hard on our graphics and doesn't always get credited... )
8. The personal information of each member of this forum will be respected and kept confidential at all times, unless the member provides his/her written consent otherwise. Any posts containing personal information about a member are subject to modification or deletion as the admin and mods see fit.
9. Enjoy your stay here! This is one of the largest Apolo forums on the web (if not THE largest), and we're all really good friends here. I don't want this rules thread to sound like a kill-joy, because it's not. I just wanted to have something general for people to keep in mind as they post, so this can stay happy and full of love for Apolo. If you all have any more suggestions as to how we can make this site better, I am ALWAYS eager to hear them!
I love you each and every one of you guys!!! I'm so proud of this forum and how lively and exciting it's become. Everyone has so much enthusiasm, and I don't want you to read these thread and think your personality is going to get snuffed out, because that's the LAST thing I want to happen. Everyone is unique and it's your uniqueness that make this an awesome place to be. My goal is just to make this a nice place for everyone. Please PM me if you have any concerns! ;D

Bella's Guidelines Revisted: posted Jun 5, 2006, 3:16am
OK guys, in and effort to improve things, I wanted to start by reposting here the first 3 of Lindsey's original guidelines, which she initially published late April of this year. Black is Lindsey, Blue is me:
1. Keep the site "clean." Don't read too much into this, but if a post is sexually explicit, it may be modified. I do realize the majority of posters are 18+ or at that level of maturity but I want to be respectful of everyone.
The key word to me in this statement is explicit. Without reading too much into it, as Lindsey suggested, I'll go so far as to say that I think innuendo is not explicit and as such is exempt. You are all now charged with figuring out a creative way to get your message across without being sexually explicit. As women, we are already all experts at this on many levels. As an extra added step, anyone that feels offended by any comment from another poster and doesn't feel comfortable addressing the offender, please send me a PM about the situation. We will handle these things on a case by case basis. Don't be shy. I care about all the posters on this board. As a moderator, I am charged with considering the needs of all posters on the board, particularly the members. Now, I know there are a lot of folks who want to be sexually explicit, and we can discuss this further when Lindsey returns.
2. Be respectful to other posters and to other people. Of course you will have your own opinion, but flaming people personally isn't nice. I really haven't seen much of this at all, but I wanted to include it just in case.
I'd like to extend this and ask folks not to attack any other posters on a personal level. This means no name calling or personal insults. This obviously includes guests and members alike, anyone that posts.
I'll try to introduce a new thread each day to give us something new to talk about and keep interest high. Other folks can also feel free to introduce new threads. If things are veering off topic and it seems like something to explore, don't be shy... open up a new thread!
Lindsey intended these to be loose sort of guidelines for people. And she published it mostly because she was getting complaints. She says she was actually against it at first, but as she continued to get complaints, she realized she had to publish something so people would have some sort of structure to go by.
I'm definitely not trying to undo anything Lindsey has already done or take over or anything else. I'm just trying to do the best I can to address everyone's needs.
What do y'all think?
Comments on that thread:
MT: I'd like to say this sounds comfortable for me. I also don't object to moderators modifying any of my posts they feel necessary (but would be less confused if I got a note to that effect when/if it happened).
I think ruffians chatroom is a good way to bleed off excess steam and steamy postings. A BIG red warning should be posted with the URL easily accessible and general times when one might expect to find others there who are in the mood to chat and not easily offended, (please.)
If the chat room becomes a regular outlet, I would think the worst of the racey posts will quickly subside.
Don't give up bella and anyone else who cares. I'm sure we can work this out so all positve and realistic minded members can reach an acceptable comfort level.
torinogal: I agree wholeheartedly with MT. I think it will be pretty easy to figure this out. We'll just have to get through the glitches, that's all.
And, being one of the people who's posts are getting complaints. Just give me a nudge if I'm getting out of hand. I usually don't realize I'm doing it. I get worked up like a steam engine, and just don't stop sometimes.
I'm a bad bad bad girl. [image]
Sorry.
laura6: of course you are a bad bad girl....thats why i like you so much!!!!!!
torinogal: Here's the BRAVENET chatroom address we've been using if anybody wants it:
pub38.bravenet.com/chat/show.php/3259265877
susie: Bella, it sounds like you've thought this through. I support what you're doing. ;D
rach2crazy: rules sounds easy 2 follow!.. ill try 2 stay on topic, my mind just wanders off sometimes...we'll all the time...
And nice emotions torino! lol funny
