oh, another thing, when they announced his arrival to the Barnstable Brown Party, they played a short part of the Olympic song and said "Ladies and Gentlemen, Apolo Anton Ohno" The crowd went nutso,,,they didn't announce Allison at all and that's how we passed them, because she was standing back and photographers were taking his picture and interviewing him and she stood there with a hostess juist smiling. I am sure there are pics somewhere though,,,,I wonder if he wne to the Muhammad Ali Gala last night? It was at the Galt House in Louisville. Muhammad has also been in town (this is his hometown) for most of last week. he is so awesome. What a story. maybe someday there will be the Apolo Anton Ohno Center!

I went to Gettyimages.com and WireImage.com and I couldn't find any more of Apolo at all, unfortunately. But yeah, I also found that pic of Apolo at Simply Apolo ( I wonder where SHE got that, but to me, it looks like a cell phone picture, doesn't it, I mean LOOK at it! ) so either he was tired, or had one too many ( though I doubt it, I heard he's not really a "drinker" ) or was just kind of annoyed that someone came up to him, in his face, to click a pic of him, who knows?
I hope we find more pics of him at these things somewhere. But I can see WHY they made a BIG deal of Apolo and NOT Allison. Apolo HAS won 5 Olympic medals now. Allison has not won any and most people outside of us, knowing about short-track due to our Apolo fanship, still do not know the world of short-track skating as well as all of us do, know what I mean? I don't think it was a slight to her, the "general" public probably just does NOT have a clue about Allison, that's all.
Well, that's MY take on it, anyhow....

yup yup!! Well...i think some of the public will know that she's APolo's Gf...i mean if they saw them together at the paties and all. Well...it's not just Allison...but other skaters as well, the public doesn't really have no clue except like the Olympics...

Hi! I am an outsider but wanted to put this on here because I checked the Ohnozone.net and can't find the place I was told about,,,anyway this is the story. I live in Louisville and was I guess a red carpet viewer. We had our camera to take pictures and the crowed of "gawkers" was very friendly. I met a lady that had 2 kids that wanted to get autographs from Apolo Anton Ohno and Allison (Baner?). There were hundreds of people there but we had these 2 kids up in front. When Apolo got there it was someone's idea to yell "Allison" to get her down to the crowd. We figured he would come with her. We yelled "Allison, Allison come down here" She was looking down at the crowd like "Who is that" We kept yelling ,,she kept looking. Aparently she was waiting for Apolo to be interviewed in the press tent. Long story,,but,,,I told the mom of the two little kids "If I get a piture of them I will get it to you" She said to post it on Ohnozone.net. Anyway, the pics are crap and a blur. When I got a shot of them they were too far away on the bridge and it was dark (bout 10:15 PM). Those two little kids were crying their eyes out. A reporter came down and asked the little girl what was wrong and she said "I wanted to see Allison the skater and my brother wants Apolo's autograph". The reporter took her name and age (she said she turned 7 last week) and he said I will see what I can do. I think that the kids and mom left about 11:00 and as of 1:00 AM, I never saw them leave (Allison and Apolo) . Mom~I am very sorry, I hope you see this somehow and Apolo fans sorry I didn't even get a picture. The account from the fellow partyer looked pretty acurate although I thought her dress was more of a halter style than grecian. Also when Apolo was walking up the hilled walkway, he was walking like looking down and trudging up the hill and then I guess realized his partner was not with him and he turned around and waited for her to join him. She was watching these little kid dancers on a stage that said "TV Land". Totally my opinion, and I do not know much about Apolo, but he looked tired and this does not seem to be the life for him..Partying,,,I think he would be much more at home on the ice. Celebritys did come down to sign autographs for the red carpet watchers, but Apolo and Allison did not

Thanks for your take on it all, outsidelookinin, I appreciate it.
Well, in Apolo's and Allison's defense, I know it was the first time to any Kentucky Derby events for the both of them. Maybe they were not sure what they could and could not do due to security or maybe Apolo and Allison were having some kind of problems or Apolo just did not really feel like being there, who REALLY knows "for sure" except the two of them.
But that does NOT sound like the Apolo we all know, not coming down to sign stuff for fans. As I said, maybe he didn't know that he could or that they were getting held up by reporters, celebrity fans, etc. I mean alot of celebs really like Apolo, too and maybe several of them there had not met him yet and he did not want to appear "rude".
But I mean, outside of those kids, I'm sure that still, not many people knew who Allison was. Even though it got out at this Olympics that he was seeing a fellow U.S. women's speed skater, there are, believe me, ALOT of people who have never seen the woman or a picture of her, etc. I know several of them is why I say this.

Thanxx Outsidelokin' for the post.....and sux that you didn't get to meet them...or those lil' kids didn't get autographs. But...like Amy said this is their first time like at the Derby/party and maybe they had somethiing else in mind, and APolo was pretty busy the past week with DC and wedding singer and all that..soo...

I was just checking back to see maybe if my message was received but no Apolo or Allison were not being rude at al. And I don't think that they realized that they had a fan base until they were up the road a bit. They did both stop on the bridge and looked back where we were and it seemed like they were going to walk off the end and down the hill (I know this is not making sense)to where we were and they were kind of guided up by some man. No, I think they are probably great people but not sure they could walk down or were not sure. Not bashing either of them. I thought he was great in the Olympics,,,an inspiration. If I remember right at the BB party when the crowd was chanting his name he raised both hands over his head and I know for SURE that she waved. At that point they seemed like they were coming down. I am talking they were 100 feet from us at that point. That courier article has some pics to give you a better idea of the set up there.

Oh, I wasn't thinking you sounded as if you were bashing them at all, hon. I was just thinking on what may of been going on with them, very LOOSELY I might add since: A. I don't know Apolo or Allison personally and B. This was their first Kentucky Derby party scene.
It's all cool and good. No hard feelings and just interesting to hear what was going on from someone who was ACTUALLY there and was just a "normal person" like us and not a writer for a paper or magazine, know what I'm saying?
