I'm flying to Washington to see my brother get married a little over a month and I have a stop in SLC on the way there and a stop in Seattle when I fly home. So those are two cities that Apolo could be in and I'm hoping that I can have the same experience as you raingirl. I know my chances are very slim that he'll be in the airport the same time as me but hey a girl can wish right?

OMG! go to yuki's diffusion in seattle and get your hair done b4 the wedding! Its a cool idea but I'll be going to Seattle after my brother's wedding, on my way home. But I have no idea where his salon is and I'd probably get lost there, oh and I only have 2 hours before my flight leaves.

Unfortunately, it takes about 30-45 minutes to get from the airport to downtown when traffic is good (which is not that often in Seattle.) Hopefully, you'll get the airport sighting! Good luck.

Thanks so much for that tidbit of information Raingirl. To say I'm envious would be an understatement. Do you mind, if you can, elaborating on this part: He clearly did not want to be noticed, so we all pretty much left him alone. Also, did he always have a 'following' in Seattle? I know you said at the time you met him he wasn't as well known, but I'm suspecting he was already quite a household name in his hometown before the rest of us had the pleasure of being introduced to him. I'm just trying to picture you standing there as your luggage circled the carousel again....and again...and again. Even then he had an effect on people! This happened back before I was a teacher - still in corporate life - and I was flying back and forth from Seattle to Denver at least once a week - on United airlines. I had to check bags in Denver because the flight was totally full (and I was late) so there I am standing waiting for my luggage in Seattle, tired and ready to move on. Standing there, I happened to notice that the guy in front of me to the right had beautiful hair. (One of my biggest regrets in life is that I didn't figure out sooner who it was and immediately look farther down if you know what I mean.) He had on a hat but I could tell it was long and seemed very thick. The person in front of me to the left got their bags so I stepped up to the carousel and was just standing there waiting and happened to look to my right. The guy next to me was looking down - not making eye contact with anybody. I remember thinking - gosh, not only does he have beautiful hair, but really long eyelashes. Then it hit me and I about fell to the floor. You know how people just look down when they don't want to converse and want to be left alone? That's what he looked like. I figured he was tired and glad to be back home. One of the things Apolo has said about coming home is that people do pretty much leave him alone. I did take several looks in his direction, kind of pretending I was looking for someone off in the distance. It took a few minutes for his bag to show up and I know mine went around several times. I was dying to turn to somebody and ask them it they realized who that was but held back. I'm sure that was my only chance since I suspect his days of waiting at the Seattle airport for his luggage with all the rest of us are long gone. So sad. As for how tall he is, his eyes seemed about level with mine. Maybe he was an inch or so taller - but not where you would notice. Yes, we probably were much more aware of Apolo before the rest of the country. The curious thing about Seattle, though, is that with the exception of skiing, winter sports are not big here. We are a coastal community - fortunately we only have to go 30 minutes East and we're in mountains with snow - but ice skating is not really big here. So I don't know that as many people were aware of him as you might think. Obviously, over the last several years, that has changed. Fortunately, I had had the good taste to zero in on Apolo immediately so had been following him for quite awhile - even before 2002. We probably do see more in the media about him. I think he has known some of the media here for a long time and has some trust with them. The guy who did the KOMO reports during DWTS was a sportscaster for a long time before he switched to general reporting. He does seem very relaxed with the folks here and has shown a bit more of the fun Apolo than some of the national media might have been prior to DWTS. That's the story. Oh, to be have been that close to perfection once in my life............. ACKKKK! How did I possibly miss this??? What a great story, Raingirl. I'd heard it from you before, but you provided more detail this time around. I can't even imagine what I'd do. Well...yeah, I can. Probably nothing. Hockey star Sidney Crosby (from my city) was on my flight last year from Halifax to Toronto. He sat directly behind me. He even slipped his carry on bag under my seat. All I could think about all the way to Toronto was "I can't wait to tell everyone I touched Sidney's bag for two hours!" To add to the adventure, a steward put me in charge of the emergency door beside us should something happen. All I could think was "Crap! We've got a guy on here worth how many millions of bucks and they put me in charge of his welfare!!" Anyway, I probably spent the whole flight repeating in my head what I'd say to him as we got off. I was still rehearsing it as we walked off the tarmac.....and still again as he raced off ahead of me towards the baggage claim. The thing about us Canadians is we're very reserved (I'm sure that's no surprise now that you've gotten to know me ). Everybody in the airport was starring, but not one person bothered him. The whole scene was just surreal because he was connecting to his flight to Pittsburgh were he was off to sign his contract to officially make him a Penguin. It was amazing that here he was, the most sought after celebrity in North America that week and I had just spent two hours in seclusion with him. Crazy!

There you go Lexi - one more thing we have in common - our nearness to the luggage of the great ones! Isn't it amazing how such mature, intelligent women can be reduced to drooling fools like that. But we love it!!!

That would be so cool to meet Yuki or just even be in the salon! I'll just keep wishing that Apolo will be in the airport that same day as me.
