The good news is our 5.5 year old daughter is in the top 10 in her entire preschool in almost everything. She had testing done and placed high in everything. The bad news because of her vision issues she has a definite fine motor skill delay. We are waiting on the school district to get her set up with occupational therapy and we knew this might be an issue but to hear it from her teachers and know it is reality definitely broke my heart I will do anything for her. Please pray for us right now.

Oh my gosh! That's awesome she's high in her class but so sorry she has that condition. I will pray that God will take care of it and she'll get the help she deserves!

Hey, daisymomma! Sorry to hear that your daughter's vision is affecting fine motor skills, even though she's doing well in other areas of testing. It's so hard to see one's child struggle in a particular area. I actually just made an appointment for my son (4 1/4) to see an eye doctor. He couldn't read the eye chart at his yearly appointment. I kind of expected him to have poor vision: his dad and I both have strong corrective lenses. At least we didn't give him any allergies! But, poor vision might explain my son's lack of athletic co-ordination, especially in sports involving a ball. I signed him up for "Creative Movement" at the YMCA. My husband raised an eyebrow: "Dance?" But Josiah LOVES it! They walk on tippy toes and pretend to be birds and spin and hop, etc. Anyway, your daughter's situation does sound serious, so I hope they can teach her how to compensate. They really do a lot these days with OT! God bless!

I'm sorry to hear that. But hopefully it won't slow her down, or affect her. My brother's ex's daughter has eye issues. And they want to put her in a different class. I feel for the girl. It's not her fault. The doctors made a mistake. Her eyes were crossed a little, they went in for surgery, and it somehow reversed itself and made it worse. But they are going to try and make it better for her. She wears glasses. She's a doll. Your daughter sounds pretty smart. So I pray everything will turn out well.
