I'm worried. My cat is so sick. He's been having problems when it comes to going to the bathroom. Just when you think he's going to get better, he gets worse. He's peeing blood. It's bad. His eyes say that he's getting close. I hate it, and I don't want him to suffer...he went to the vet, we gave him meds, tried everything. He was getting better...I try not to let it get to me that hard, but I'm not heartless. I have eight cats and when one is sick, I worry. I'm a country girl, I get by with the cats.

Tabatha, I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. I'm a cat person, too. The 'smts in my name is all for my cats...Smudge, Madison, Tyson and Sophie. It's very hard to watch them suffer, especially since we can't understand what they are thinking.
How old is your cat and what is the prognosis....is she older and perhaps in renal failure?
What does the vet say?
I understand about your not wanting them to suffer. If you see in her eyes that her time is coming, perhaps the best thing you can do is help her over to the other side in a caring and loving manner? The hardest thing is letting go, especially if she wants to be let go.
Hard decision.....sending you a hug.

He's only 4 going on 5. The vet said he didn't really think that he'd make it. I lost Franny last year, she was in her teens. If I have to put him to sleep to save the suffering then I will. Striker loves him, she's the shyest of the bunch. It's so sad cause he is so loving. We will probably talk it over tomorrow. My mom knows more of the details than I do. Thanks everyone. It's nice to have support.

I have 8 cats. And have agreed on taking another. Crazy I know, but I hate seeing a healthy cat be put down. I get plenty of food every month, they are all taken care of. And when the weather is good, most are outside anyway. My landlord likes feeding strays. He has a soft spot for them. That's where two of ours came from. poor bird. I lost a dog and cat with in 6 week. It was tough.

Glad you have many cats to help you through this. Why did the cat pee blood?

He has some kind of infection, or something more serious. They had to hurry up and use a (bad spelling) catheter to get the urine out. He was blocked, and bloated. It's hard to see.

Sounds like FUS or feline urologic syndrome. It's a chronic condition. Your cat need a special diet. One of my cats had a problem with FUS at about the same age your cat is....he lived until 15 years and died from cancer. They can surprise you. Hang in there.

News isn't that good. Found out that the only chance at a real surving rate was if he had a kidney transplant. He has eaten in two weeks, stopped drinking. Wasn't able to control his bladder. So we decided to put him to sleep. I couldn't wait knowing what the outcome would be. I can't let him suffer. I'm not like that. It's not in me. It's really sad because he's not even that old. Now we have to bury him. I'll be back later on today, if I'm not, then you'll know why.

Sorry, tabatha! It's hard losing a beloved pet. I hope things went as well as could be hoped, and that you are feeling more cheerful and taking in another stray soon. You have a sweet heart.
