What is your favorite restaurant? BBP's comment about Red Lobster inspired me to start this thread (someone tell me if there was already one from a while ago and i missed it). I'll start. No, wait. I have two. Olive Garden and Panera. No, three. This Indian all-you-can eat buffet called Sitar, where I go to school. Whoops. Okay, maybe just make this: Name your favorite restaurants. Plural.

My favorite restaurant is a local place owned by an expatriate Frenchman. It focuses on classic French cuisine. I spent the evening of Bastille Day there and it was wonderful -- he and his staff always put on a big show, and this year they brought in two Broadway singers, one of whom had been in "Les Mis". It was quite special.
My favorite restaurant in New York City was a neighborhood Italian place which has since closed. It had wonderful red banquette seats and it was so much fun to go there with a date. I had been to fancier places, but I always liked that one the best. I also liked eating at the Union Square Cafe (I think it's called) there.
I like trying different ethnic foods and I'm ususally willing to go to just about any restaurant. I don't like *really* noisy places, though.
One member of my family is the sous-chef at a well regarded restaurant, and two of us have cooked at restaurants at one time or another, so at family get-togethers we eat really well.

The place I go to, they slice the meat and cheese in front of you and they are big whole peices of cheese, not the little crap triangles subway gives you! The subs are so big that it is rare that you can close them!
