Ya know those crazy eye masks filled with green gel they sell at places like linens and things, bath an body works, etc.? Pop one of those in the freezer for about an hour and put it on your eyes. It's a cold shock at first, but then it really helps. I tried heat, but ice seems to do the trick, so it's worth a try. Also, breathing in menthol (vicks) or eucalyptus helps. If black tea makes you sick, try coffee. You might talk to your doctor about Topomax. I was on it when I used to get 2-3 migraines a week, and it got me down to 1-2 a month. It seems to be the miracle drug for people who get migraines. Hope you feel better! I feel your pain hard core (including the former cheerleading pains )

I went outside, and sat by our bonfire, and my headache went away!

OK, now, I know this might sound simplistic, but hear me out. Calcium is a pain killer par excellence. Seriously! The trick with calcium is that it is difficult to absorb, and that's why symtoms of calcium deficiency are so common (i.e., muscle twitches, menstrual cramps, insomnia, irritability, etc.).
Now, I'm not saying that a mega dose of calcium will cure ya if you're in the throes of a full blown migrane, but you might experience some relief, and if the mineral is abundantly supplied on a regular basis when you are not having a migrane, future attacks may be prevented.
The best source of calcium is dairy, of course. You can also take calcium tablets, but make sure the tablets have magnesium and/or vitamin D to improve absorption and that you take them with orange juice or lemonade during a meal that contains some fat, because calcium cannot be absorbed without an acidic base and a little fat.

Heh, I hadn't thought of that. I never drink milk or eat ice cream. I think calcium also has some effects on blood pressure and sudden drops in blood pressure cause a tremendous migraine.
Off to eat some yogurt.

I've suffered with migraines my whole life. I usually get them 6-9 times a year and some last for 3-4 days.
Caffeine can work for some but for me and others it makes the migraines worse. Some migraines are triggered by sinus pressure. You could try a sinus medication if you think this might be the cause.
I normally take extra strength Excedrin (in frequent doses) Caution--it will upset your stomach.
When I was pregnant and couldn't take anything the first trimester I was plagued with migraines. The only relief I could get was to put an ice pack covering the area from just below my eyes up across my forehead. It won't cure it but it will relieve the pain and give the meds a chance to take hold.
